HUGE SCAM....Discount coupon on Groupon seems like a deal till they charge you an additional $120 for the certificate and $25 per day pick-up fee. Like the other reviews when calling to schedule an appointment they said additional fee needs to be paid to cover the certificate..I was referred to the "fine" print of their groupon add. They did state "Certificate not included" but failed to include it is $120 in that "fine" print. They will tell you over the phone to look at their website. That is some shady BS!!!!! Complaint being filed with Groupon and the State. Regarding the business response. 1. Learn to spell...every one of your response's has a typo. 2. I am the Grandpa you talked to on the phone and I did not abuse you...I asked if you were sh#tting me about the additional fee's not listed on the Groupon. 3. I do live in San Diego so the cost of living is apparent to me but what does that have to do with your deceptive advertising? 4, The Groupon has not been redeemed yet nor will it because my research has found a less expensive driving school here in San Diego...BTW...their fee's are all listed on the front page of their website...no need to search as required on your website. I feel absolutely ripped off. Purchased a groupon (I'm a single mother of 4), only to find out that they were going to charge another $125 once we attempted to redeem the voucher. Plus, they won't even begin the classes until you pay the additional money. I do not recommend this place. The guy who called even seems condecondescending and has I couldn't care less attitude. huh? Website says $5.99 for online drivers ed course. wow, what a great price! Except when you read further you see "does not include certificate fee". Umm, okay.....isn't a primary reason to take the online course is so you can GET the certificate showing you took the online course? I guess they are providing a unique service to that rare person that just wants to take an online Drivers Ed course for funsies and has no intention of using it towards a drivers license, but it seems rather confusing to advertise their price that way.They don't handily provide the certificate fee in that online course description either. You have to scroll down the page (past repeated photos of pretty-blonde-passenger-lady-that-is-starting-to-creep-me-out) to find out it will cost an additional $120 for the certificate of completion.I'm looking at A AAAfordable Driving School right now. Shitty customer service!! Asked a question about what I'm paying for get the 3rd degree like I don't have a right to ask and guy hangs up on me. But only before he tells me I can't pay if I'm not dropping my kid off because they need to see payment and ID. What's the point of paying over the phone if I have to be there anyway, I offered to pay when I drop kid off but they hung up on me.  Not sure if the driving course is good or not it's a pain in the ass to get to that point. Save money if u can. Never buy this. They don't respect ur time. They give very late appointment and most of time reschedule it. They cancel so much that u end up not learning and assume ur money totally lost. We have 2 sessions still Left and last 1  month no slot.Very unprossional service Read Less

Truly- this place is schmarmy! They offer a Groupon- but NOT included is a $120 certificate fee. Groupon listed there was a fee but not the amount. Truly the fee was almost as expensive as the lessons. Once paid, they are very difficult to get hold of to schedule- since they do not ever answer phones but want you to leave a voicemail so they can call you back when it is convenient for them. In the end they refunded my "certificate fee" and I walked away unhappy. Read Less

Bait and switch!Their Groupon special implied pickup & dropoff (it said "within a 20-mile area" in the text of the deal) and the small print mentions a certificate fee, but not the fact that the fee is $120! Pickup & dropoff would add another $75 for a total of $345!!!I'm writing off the $150 I wasted on the Groupon & using another driving school that gets GREAT REVIEWS and only charges $260 for everything!STAY AWAY from Matt RIPOFF School! TERRIBLE SERVICE! Matt Driving school has terrible customer service. I spoke on the phone to Mark who I believe is running this "business." There had been a mix up on our end about an emailing confirmation but Mark was not helpful about the situation at all. He then began to yell at me through the phone and then continued to belittle me as a customer and also someone who works retail. He kept referring to himself as the "Ceiling" that no one is higher than him, and after a long conversation with him he ended up having a breakdown, raised his voice even more, then hung up like a 16 year old who does not know a THING about customer service or professionalism. I do not know of any owner who would hang up on a customer through the phone when all we wanted was some help to clear up some confusion with their policies. For someone who is running a form of service like this you would expect someone who can be helpful when you are confused, but with this driving school it is not the case. They will debate with you about other policies and belittle other companies to make them seem better. For the amount of money we were spending for this school a little courtesy from the owner Mark would have been nice. Still in shock of our customer service here. The service here was unlike I have ever seen before. Word of advice is to stay away from this driving school. I would give him negative stars if possible. Read Less

Their instructors are really nice and friendly, but not so much the guy running the operation - his name is Matt. All it took was a minor misunderstanding for him to have a meltdown and then scream at me on the phone, he went as far as accusing me of thinking too highly of myself because of my doctorate degree .. LOL. Kid you not, this is the FIRST time someone has accused me of something like that, he got issues and I don't say this lightly. I moved on to another driving school, got my license, and am actually still very good friends with the folks guy there. Our two sons have benefitted from their six hours with Matt Driving School. The instructors eased them into freeway, downtown, Coronado Bridge, heavy traffic, etc. and shared with us what the boys needed to work on after each session. Stay away. Not very nice and not ethical. Unlike most driving schools (I've used three other schools for my older children, but heard about a great deal at Matt's), Matt's School charges for proof that you have taken the lesson.  They call this a certificate fee, and I was told it would cost $120. They say it was disclosed in the "fine print." When I got out my glasses, I found that they were correct. The fine print states "Certificate fee not included."  So, yes, they did disclose this fee upfront in very small print; but I still think it is wrong. My daughter was scheduled to take her 6 hour behind the wheel driving class with MATT Driving School and after her 1st 2 hour session, she had to leave out of the state. MATT Driving School worked with us and was very understanding of our situation. MATT Driving School cares for its customers and takes pride in providing a great learning experience for teen drivers. It is expensive compared to other driving schools. They sell coupon for 150$ but their pickup fees is 75$ and insurance is 115$ ( i am not sure if they have so many claims) thy are charging so high.They should mention everything on coupon rather than putting in small letters about condition applies Read Less

Awesome Company! Very professional. Mark made me feel like family from the beginning. Gil was patient and an excellent instructor. From the beginning I felt like we were all on the same team and had the common goal. Thanks to them I got my confidence and achieved that goal.
