Unfortunately, I had a very dreadful experience with this school.
Dan was my instructor. The content of the lessons were generally OK. But the instructor was very rude, and don't have even a little sense of respect, patient or courtesy. I forgot my permit in school in the first day, he told me I am a pain in his ass. For the next two lessons, he was keeping yelling at me, and giving arbitrary direction without clear explanations. I am not a totally new driver and had a driving licence in China. He laugh at me so much, and ask me if I bought my licence(I passed all the request by Chinese driving school). He told me I was the most stupid he ever taught. I don't understand what is that related to the driving. At least I held a PhD from a globally top 10 university in the most difficult subject (I don't think you can find a lot of people smarter than me). He also told me I was not ready for testing, and I will be put into special list and kill people. I did not yield, and won't buy any more his lessons.
I told him not to yell at me, yelling does not make information pass through better (trust, and clear instruction/wording are more crucial). He told me because he wanted me to be perfect....Certainly I did not receive enough detailed directions from a experience driver. My friends probably can do better commands than him simply saying stop, turning thing! I am not a robot! He was very crossed by my complaint, and murmured "fu*k"....but later apologised when finished with the lesson.
On the whole I got more confident at least from the driving hours, and hope will pass the driving test soon.
Another thing I have to complain was that he was always 20 mins before agreed time and call me which made me very nervous (I don't want to make him wait), so I couldn't do my work, and had to keep waiting for his call.....
I regret I did not read all the reviews carefully. Otherwise I would have chosen a different instructor
I have made another milestone that I met a most rude person in SD. But I don't want to make this review totally negative, I will give this school some suggestions:
1. Respect the student's background. Don't judge them by their nationality/driving experience etc.
2. Criticism is great. But please limit them to the driving itself and the facts. Don't insult your student. Don't curse them to fail or to kill people or kill themselves.
3. Please give clear instruction before hand, don't wait for your student to make mistake and then bully them.
4. Take the driving class as a life-long education, don't fix on only the test itself.
4. Please be punctual. Call your student no early than 5 mins before starting time. Respect people's time.
A little update: I got recommended an instructor from a friend from my Chinese community. She was very clear about her instruction and pays a lot respect to her student. I took another 2*2-hour class and passed my driving test(it's the only one I took) today by 2 minor errors.
By here, I don't put all negative to Dan: I guess he has many good points, especially by being strict and critical, which would fit some personality well. I might even think if you could choose two instructor with different teaching style that would be the best.

I just moved to SD and had Josh as my instructor, he is calm, patient and extremely knowledgeable as Mohammad mentioned. It was a great experience and highly recommend Josh as an instructor.

I ordered this service to take my DMV exam. They said they would be an hour early so Ill have the chance to practice before the driving test and familiarize myself with the car. The instructor came in 15 minutes late, and I only had the chance to practice for about 25 minutes. I called the owner of this school to let them know that I was unsatisfied with the fact that the instructor, named Kelly, was late. The owner then decided that it would be a good idea to form a three way call with the driving instructor, owner, and myself. Kelly begins to scream over the phone and called me a liar and claimed that she was only 5 minutes late. I offered her proof that she was not 5 minutes late, but 15 minutes late. She continues to scream and the owner did not really say anything besides "I apologize, but being late is sometimes the reality." Try saying that to your boss at work and see how that works out. When you have a job to do you have to do your best to be there on time. No matter what. I feel like I overpaid for this poor service. I definitely do not recommend this place.

I just took my driving test and got 3 mistakes!! Thank you, Bob from Allstate Driving School!! Bob was my instructor and he is THE BEST!! 👏🏽 When I would make a mistake, Bob was always so calm and he would let me know what I did wrong so if it happens again, I know what to do. He also showed me this really neat trick to parallel park perfectly every time 👌🏽 Thank you so much, Bob!!! 💞

Josh was my instructor and I found him extremely knowledgeable and well mannered. I took 6 hrs lesson and it was more than sufficient to clear the road test!
First two hours he judged my driving habit...
Josh was my instructor and I found him extremely knowledgeable and well mannered. I took 6 hrs lesson and it was more than sufficient to clear the road test!
First two hours he judged my driving habits and gave his valuable inputs and remaining time we worked on it.
If you are looking for a decent and knowledgeable instructor then I would highly recommend Josh for it.
They are a bit pricey but it is worth!

I'd definitely recommend choosing Bob as an instructor! All of my lessons were with him. He made me feel more comfortable driving and I learned a lot in my first few lessons. His instructions were very clear and his tips really helped me prepare for my driving test, which I passed on my first try!

Unfortunately, it took me 3 times to pass my behind-wheel exam. However, I did enjoy those 3 instructors who had helped me to overcome my previous mistakes. Josh helped me picking up the driving skill...
Unfortunately, it took me 3 times to pass my behind-wheel exam. However, I did enjoy those 3 instructors who had helped me to overcome my previous mistakes. Josh helped me picking up the driving skills that I've forgotten for a while; Then I had Bob teaching me some small but useful skills on the road; Last I had Mr. Chan (Quinn), he taught me how to drive in various road conditions, and build my alertness (not nervousness) on the road. So thanks to all of them, I got less nervous each time, and of course less mistakes during each exam, then finally I passed on the third attempt with only 2 minor marks. It's been awhile, but I still want to share my experience and hopefully more people can get helped by them.

I took a total of 16 hours with Quinn. He was very patient, knowledgeable, helpful and also fun to talk to. He made driving, that was really scary to me at first, a fun and positive experience. I am taking the test in 2 weeks and I am confident that I can pass it on the first try. I highly recommend this school, and Quinn in particular. You will be a more confident, responsible driver - which is well worth the money. It may also preserve your good relationships within the family - and that has a price, too :).Update: I did the test on June 23rd, with Quinn's car. He came to pick me up 1h prior to the test appointment, and we did some last minute practice (parking, backing up, driving around the DMV neighborhood). It made me relax, and I passed the test with only 4 minor mistakes. Again, it was so worth the investment, I recommend the school, and Quinn in particular, to anyone interested in learning fast and efficiently to be a responsible driver.

I do not think that the word "manners" even exist in this ladies dictionary. I have some great news for you lady, you come rude across, you don't earn my business. As easy as that!

Maryella was my instructor on my first lesson and she made me feel very calm and comfortable. On the first lesson we sat in the parked car and she showed me quarter turns, halfway turn, halfway turn tight. This was so helpful because I had never been behind the wheel before so it made it so much easier for me to steer once we began on the road. After that I requested her for all 10 hours. She was always on time and was always giving off such positive vibes. She took me to the test and I passed! She is an amazing instructor and overall just an amazing person. Taking lessons here was a great experience and the school itself is ran very efficiently.

My son took your driving course and we are impressed with the high level of instruction. On the day of my son's test, the examiner commented after looking at his paperwork, he said Oh you went to All State Driving School, they are a very good school. My son passed with flying colors. Thanks again.

Brilliant, easy for a busy person. I never had the opportunity or the time to learn to drive growing up. I just moved to the states and I needed to learn to drive ASAP. I called Dee late on a Friday, and she returned my call immediately and booked me for lessons starting Saturday and the payment on the phone was a breeze.I did about 30 hours ( a session is 2 hours) with Darol, who was very patient, all ways on time at my desired pick up locations and very particular about performance. Today, in less than a month since my knowledge test, I passed my test. I even used Darol's car for the test and was able to book it as soon as I booked my test appointment. Thank you All State Driving School!

Five stars to my instructor (Josh) for being so helpful and efficient and explaining all I need to know about driving, and one star or even less to the one who claims to be the owner of this company! She called on a day that is definitely not scheduled to be for my driving lesson and was yelling at me in the phone about how could I do this and not be there for the appointment!! I never made an appointment on this day and she kept insisting that I have to pay a cancellation fee!!

Thank you to All State driving especially to my instructor Mr. Thomas, I passed my driving test today. He is very good in teaching/explaining to me the things I need to know behind the wheels, not just for the drive test but also in everyday driving. I gain my confidence through his well thought explanations and practices during my driving classes.. Thank you!

Unfortunately, I had a very dreadful experience with this school.
Dan was my instructor. The content of the lessons were generally OK. But the instructor was very rude, and don't have even a little sense of respect, patient or courtesy. If you are looking for a decent and knowledgeable instructor then I would highly recommend Josh for it.
They are a bit pricey but it is worth!

I took a total of 16 hours with Quinn. He was very patient, knowledgeable, helpful and also fun to talk to. He made driving, that was really scary to me at first, a fun and positive experience. I am taking the test in 2 weeks and I am confident that I can pass it on the first try. I highly recommend this school, and Quinn in particular. Thank you to All State driving especially to my instructor Mr. Thomas, I passed my driving test today. He is very good in teaching/explaining to me the things I need to know behind the wheels, not just for the drive test but also in everyday driving.
