I went into there school a little bit skeptical, but as soon as I talked to this awesome lady I felt immediately at ease. They are probably some of the most kind people I have met and really have an amazing atmosphere inside that school. I took the written and driver's test and was absolutely thrilled with how I was treated. They are cheaper than any other place I checked and make you feel right at home. I cannot describe how amazing these two are at making an atmosphere that is calming and easy to test in. I would recommend this school to anyone and everyone. Hong Kong driving school is a refreshing break from the oppressive institutional feel of just about everything else associated with the driving certification process. Sam and Joanne Wong run this longstanding establishment from a house conveniently located at Beacon and Columbian Way, an easy run on the 36 bus from Beacon Hill light rail station. Joanne works the desk while Sam does the road tests, and one senses that after all these years they're still very much in love in a way that only a time-tested couple can be. Their warm and supportive approach to clients is evident from the moment you walk in the door. Sam is an honest road tester, neither unduly harsh nor unduly lax, he will let you know where and how you must improve in a supportive manner with an eye towards your and others' safety as well as your certification. You will leave first feeling that you have known them all your life, and then wishing that you had. I can't wish more Sams and Joannes into the world, but I can strongly and unequivocally recommend Hong Kong Driving School to students of any age and at any stage in the process. The coach, also the examiner, sets unreasonably high criteria to fail you unless you pay $250 for a 60-minute lesson and a practice test. If you pay $180 for the 60-minute lesson and the practice test, you will definitely fail. Besides they have no receipt for cash-only transactions. Read Less

I understand they want to earn money, however being righteous is more important than money. I have 2 years' driving experience in US. However they failed me very unreasonably. They didn't even let me to complete the whole exam, neither showed a specific score to me. So was a girl who came before me. They wanted me to take another $250 package in order to pass the exam. I held my anger and reserved another driving test immediately the same day from another driving school(I don't want to advertise to give a name, but it's definitely more formal, you can easily google it online). I took the driving package, where the instructor guides you through the process, then you practice for a bit and then the practice test begins. I passed both written and practical at the first attempt with a good score. I would recommend this to anyone.They are very helpful. Read Less

I had an awesome experience. Mr Lee at the Hong Kong Driving School in Seattle is very patient and extremely helpful in explaining all the safety rules of driving. Besides teaching the basic concepts, he also gives a ton of suggestions on forming the right driving habits. I also took the test at this school, they were very professional and explain in detail all the points taken after the test. I highly recommend the school to any beginner. Read Less

Worst place ever, they will fail you on purpose in order to let you take some kind of package which cost more than $200, if you choose that package, they will treat you very nicely, but if you just take road test, the attitude will change. Very expensive with the worst attitude,I wanna give negative star if Yelp has it. I came here for the road test, they told me there is a $235 package which include some practice or just $90 road test. Then I took the $90 because I have lots of driving experience. But they will give you a hard time if you choose 90, like I definitely stopped in front of the stop side, they said you did not. Then I asked why, their attitudes turned extremely bad. Then they keeps ask me to pay more for the $235 package. Overall this is the worst place. If you do not pay the expensive one, they will try anything to fail you. Read Less

I had a great experience with Mr. Wong. He was patient and gave great advice. He was also very accommodating and set-up a refresher course on Christmas eve on a day's notice. He picked me up at home, took me to a low traffic area and had me go through the basics.I ended up taking my driving test through Mr. Wong and it was a quick, no fuss affair. After the test he dropped me off at the DMV and I was abel to get my license in under 45 minutes. Read Less

I attended the teen driving sessions for a month, and I'd say it was a good use of my 400$. Sherry O's a hating troll who's looking for someone to hook up with, that's why she's so MAD. Mr. Wong is real patient, has a great sense of humor, great teacher, and gives great advice. The classes to me were totally worth it. I was scared to drive the first time and he reassured me multiple times that everything was going to be okay. After the first lesson I wasn't scared anymore.Whenever I drove and someone called him for lessons, EVEN IF  they were  from Bellevue or Mercer Island, Renton, etc he always said he'll drive out there just to teach 'em how to drive and that's a real nice thing to do. Because if I were a driving instructor I'd tell them to get their booty over to me. Overall I'd recommend people to take his classes. this was a wonderful driving school. I wasn't sure what sherry o. was talking about but I also purchased the package and Mr. Wong's teachings were the same, which is spectacular!! He really accommodates to your schedule, he really does his  best to schedule a good time for you. I would recommend him to anyone trying to learn or reviewing how to drive. what a disaster of an experience and a waste of almost $400. maybe it was a bad fit and i needed someone younger and more laid back, and more willing to throw me into tough situations, but i was pretty specific about what i wanted, and i felt like he really avoided doing what i asked. he is slightly cheaper than many other places, but looking back, i wish i had gone to 911 driving school, which is taught by former cops. they offer single lessons and the price really isn't that much more.if you do end up going to him, i would really recommend doing it lesson by lesson. after i paid him for the 5 lesson package, i felt like the quality of the lessons severely and immediately dropped off. i quit because i felt like i was being taken advantage of. Sam Wong was very professional, patient, and knows what the DMV seeks on a driving test.  He was quite knowledgeable about each DMV's practices and where the driving tests would be held.   Additionally, he's a walking DMV driver's manual.  Very patient.  He also took the time to explain Why certain speed limits were imposed and there Where's of the given situation. Also, if you need to have a car provided for you for a driving test, he will do so.  I would highly recommend him. After one lesson, I felt steady on my driving feet again! Read Less
