U District 911 driving school is one the best driving schools I have been to. I have taken driving lessons at some of the popular driving schools in Seattle so I think I am in a good position to compare them, the instructors at 911 U District driving school are really nice and they will make you comfortable during sessions so that you are not under any stress while also emphasizing up on important things. I also took the 30 min warm-up session with Ramei and that really helped me to ace my test as I got to know what is expected from me in general during the test and also gave me an idea that in which areas I am prone to make mistakes. I already had driving experience of about 3 years in India and I wanted to get familiar with US driving rules and the feel in general and decided to get single driving class and then give the test based on how I do in the class. Mr. Charles took my class and he is an excellent instructor. He emphasized the important of safety, common mistakes people do during driving tests, explained me the point system for the tests, how many marks each aspect in the test carry. He was also very encouraging and with his encouragement I decided to give my driving test, with warm up, the same day. This time, Mr.Bill took my test. He was also very kind, casual with me. He noticed that I am a little tensed during the test, talked to me casually to calm my nerves and it didn't even feel like I was giving a test, rather just go out on a drive with some one I know very well. Worst experience I ever had.  Been here twice for scheduling and driving test.  The receptionist with dark hair had the worst attitude.  Trying to ask her a few questions and she got really mad. My son says that they present the information in a way a student could understand and  with a sense of humor,  He thinks they're fair in the way they structure the classroom conduct, and the driving. In addition, he would say that they prepared him well for driving. They are very straight forward with no surprises but be prepared to take the driving test where the student has not driven. Best advice, and they will tell you this as well, is that you, as a parent, need to let them practice, practice, practice! I had a great experience at 911 driving school in Seattle. My instructors are Charles Greene and Tiffany Pol. They are both very helpful, patient and teach well. Because of their nice and efficient coaching, I passed the driving test after my 15th classes, although I had no driving experience prior to the classes. In particular, I must thank Charles a lot. I took 10 classes with him. He gave me much encouragement and help. The staffs and owner of the school are also very nice and care about the students. My son took the lessons out of Kent, and classes were conveniently at Tahoma Hi School right after school. Instructors are current or former law enforcement, and care about what the kids learn. The stories of what they have come across are good for the kids to know, and they don't just pass kids from the driving tests ; they seem to really want to make sure the kids are ready and will be safe on the road. I would highly recommend this driving school- based on less positive reviews perhaps not all of the locations have great instructors, but my son liked all of his and easily passed the tests. The instructors are patience and very thorough.  they understand the state requirements and the students look forward to attending class. My only complaint is re-scheduling drives.  They indicate that you can re-schedule easily but they are so busy it can take sometimes more then a month to get a drive slot if you can't attend the pre-scheduled ones.  That is a symptom of being a very good school, but it can be a inconvenience.  I do recommend them and I chose I-5 Driving school. This is a very chilled out and one of the best driving schools for knowledge test I visited last year. Took three attempts and boom... passed. I had a couple of family members who went to Kirkland for an instructor based test and paid $35 first time and next scheduling they said would be another $75 with the group... Took the knowledge test and 10 driving lessons here. Scheduling was a nightmare. There is no option to do it online. You have to call and you'd be lucky if someone picks up. I had to call almost everyday just to see if there is availability and to see if the instructors had already put up their availability. I had Andrew, Tiffany, Bill, Charles, and Justin as instructors. Hands down, Charles was the best instructor I had (5 lessons). Andrew, which I had (2 lessons) with, was a good instructor too. Try to avoid the rest. I ended up taking and passing my driving test at another driving school the next day after my last lesson because I didn't wanna deal with the scheduling at 911. Read Less

The 911 driving school in Seattle deserves no star. Really bad experience with this driving school. I almost spent 1000 dollars in the driving test and classes. I took five lessons and they assigned me with a different instructor each time. The 1st instructor almost shouted at me all the time, not sure whether he is just in a bad temper or something else. I don't feel like l learned anything in this 5 lessons. They told me that I have to practice more, which I did. During the recent driving test. the instructor was impatient all the test and wanted to go back to school for the following other class with other students. In my mind, they just try to make money. I am not sure whether those good reviews are true. From my experience, everything is just so bad. Not worthful class and biased test, each instructor holds the different standard in the driving test. Really bad, I took my knowledge test last September here, and I don't remember my confirmation number(I want to get permit), and I called them this morning ask them to find out my number, they said they cannot find out, the only way is go to licensing office.Bad management! I had 5 lessons in 911 driving school, 2 with Bill and 3 with Charles. Both of them are really great people and amazing teachers. My English is not really good, but they are still very patient and give order clearly. I just had a road test with Bill and passed it! I try to be as objective as possible :)First, this is 911 driving school, so you know you gonna be tested with a police officer. He's ok, though he doesn't smile, shake hands, give you friendly look but he will help and answer all the questions if you ask (after you fail or pass only). He will instruct you after you fail, that's good part, so you'll have more experiences next time you test.Second, about the receptionist, there are usually two girls, one white girl and the other is mix. For me, the white girl is frank, she is not rude, she is just not friendly and doesn't social well. But I hope they should hire someone better because this is really bad impression if you fail, you will feel more frustrated, but don't blame them lol. About the other receptionist, she is ok, she is not talk-active, she just do her job, but she is not friendly enough to make you feel "great service" so. This will somehow affect you but yeah, do your best, they don't intend to fail you, if you are happy, they are happy for you.Third, knowledge test on saturday is noisy, because of the students. This place is clean, tidy, but noisy. It's small but doesn't look professional. I recommend going to Redmond, it has better service there :) The tester seems friendlier too.For someone who looks for my advice, if you fail, don't worry, you only have to pay 40$. My eldest attended Swerve for her drivers' ed (and they were great) but my youngest attended the Redmond 911 Driving School, as it was closer to our house and they accepted payment installments (when Swerve no longer did so. Thanks, 911!!!). The Redmond branch was great, but when it came time to take her driving test, our Redmond site was booked up for days and days. I called this Kirkland branch and the lady I spoke to was super helpful and was able to give my daughter the last available opening (this was in late December 2016, on New Year's eve afternoon). I think it was their last availability in the year, for any of their branches. We rushed there right away!The venue here is small but cute, with antique metal car/driving/gas station signs posted and a large toy police car on display. A man named Denny was assigned to take my kid out for her driver's test. He was terrific. Very thorough and very fair. My kid passed - barely, - and was explicitly told afterwards where she lost points and what she needs to work on. We were explicitly told the next steps in the process (i.e., where we needed to go, what we needed to bring to the DOL, what it would cost, even the best time to visit, etc). Even though we were the last appointment here, late in the afternoon on New Year's eve, and the place was closing up and no one else was there, never once did Denny try to rush us out so he could leave. Had a great all round experience, we had Judi M, Jonnie K and Robert H. The Admins and Reception are welcoming and friendly. Every driving lesson was comfortable and full of knowledge. My young Adult son who took the classes came home happy every time. They gave him the Drivers test when he was ready even before the class bundle we paid for was complete, refunding the remaining classes. They could of easily finished the classes and schedule out for the test, to make more money off me but didn't. I felt the prices were reasonable and did not feel they were trying to suck me like an ATM with explainable fees. Read Less

The worst experience ever and 911 does not worth any star at all! And KJ is the rude instructor! Don't ever choose him! While I bought warmup the first time, made a mistake, and I got that. However the second time I only bought road test, and the instructor was not only rude but also showed the expression of you gonna fail or whatever~ at the very beginning he asked me how I failed the first time and after I told him, he showed an expression like he saw something disgusting of what, which really offended me! And when I got into the car, I asked him how to adjust the rear mirror since I don't know where the bottom are, and he just check his phone without even look at me! The most weird thing is he asked me to park on a hill since I checked the Video of department of driving, this is not on the list of exam at all and he said I wasn't turn my wheel, but the lane is so narrow that can only fit one car, how am I suppose to turn my wheels and not to park on sidewalk? Most hideous thing is he sounds so blurry and arrogant. He even yelled at me when I got confused by his meaning. He said part to that red sign but there was literally no red sign AT ALL! This school deserves no star at all! It is expected that the instructors will be strict with respect to testing your driving skills. But, the school needs to teach their instructors some good manners. My instructor was very RUDE! I'm not a new driver but the fact that i am taking the test in another country makes me nervous. My instructor will make sure that you will be uncomfortable throughout the test. First, he gave me really vague instructions like "drive on the side of the road", so I made sure i was on the side of the road. Then he said "why are you still driving?... what are you doing?" (In a very rude and arrogant manner).  Then, he kept on repeating "drive on the side of the road". Then i finally asked him what do you mean. So he arrogantly opened the door and he pointed at the curb. Instructors should be more sensitive with the possible language barrier especially with foreign students. i know the rules, but instructors should be able to communicate their instructions clearly as it may be perceived differently in view of some language barrier. For sure, it is not their duty to intimidate you. Second, he gave me belated instructions, like turn left on the corner and the corner is less than 10ft away. How can he expect me to change lane instantly and be able to turn left on the corner? Third, he's asking me to park behind a car but there are 2 cars from which i can park behind. Again, why can't he give a clear concrete instruction? I don't want to be perceived as someone who can't comprehend instructions. Fourth, about the speed limit, i was very cautious because we are driving in a school zone/ residential zone. Although there are no visible kids around I made sure i was within the speed limit. Even assuming that for him i was going too slow, he could've said it to me candidly. But instead, with full sarcasm, he asked me what's the speed limit? Is there something wrong with car?" Etc. The way he asked questions caused me confusion i guess.  I want to discard the possibility  that the instructor might have some racial discrimination issues because of my race, but i can't help but wonder the reason why he behaved himself in such a rude manner? I was being polite the whole time. The fact that i am taking the test does not give my instructor the authority to treat me in such rude manner. Mind you i am a professional as well and i never treated any of my clients the way my instructor did. 911 driving school should not tolerate this kind of attitude. The experience was so horrible! I took my road test the first time with Duncan. He was super nice. Got a 78%. Okay, fine. I took the test with Mike again, and he was RUDE. He was a complete jerk the WHOLE time. He said that he had to take control of the car when he NEVER had to. His 'rules' were different than Duncan's so how am I supposed to know what his rules are? He was just not a nice person. This location (18421 Hwy 99) was extremely accommodating when my son scheduled his driving test with them.  Even though my son's schedule was tight, they were very polite and worked hard to find a testing time that would work for him.  My son passed his driving exam and used that to successfully apply for his license at the DOL.  I would highly recommend this 911 Driving School. There's one common factor with any low ratings this location gets: the receptionist. If I'm not mistaken, we're all talking about "Amy." I haven't had the displeasure of meeting her in person but the over-the-phone attitude is enough to make me steer clear of this place. You can just hear the annoyance in her voice when you ask questions. She lacks basic interpersonal skills and in turn, is unfit to be the "face" of any company. The extent of her unprofessionalism is astounding. Hey Amy, you don't tell your customer: "If I don't answer the phone the first three times, leave a voicemail." You're not taking a personal call, you're representing a business. We've paid 911 Driving upwards of $400 for my sister to attend their sessions. The least they can do is have a full staff that makes the expense worth it. That includes the people who are meant to provide basic answers and create a welcoming environment. Read Less

I just passed my exam :-) i took 10 classes over a period of 3 weeks at seattle. My classes were with Bill (5), justin (2), robert (1) and Andrew (2). For all new drivers out there- i had post traumatic disorder, after meeting with an accident I could not drive again. But it is only because of justin and bill that i was able to clear the test and come out of my fear. Bill you rock. Robert is the owner and in one class he gave me so many tips. He too was very helpful. If you guys are reading this thank you One of the trainers, Was very rude to me. But 911 gave me a refund for those classes. Make sure you have experienced trainers who can train you well and are patient. You do not want someone yelling at you when you are paying them to teach you. I had very bad experience in Bellevue location. I just took only the driving exam and got failed with a score of 76 inspite of performing better.  I am not sure if they expect people to attend their classes before taking driving exam. I went there recently just to take a driving skill test, the reception desk was not polite , asking questions and explaining processes in a really bad way, the first time, the lady taking a test told me that it was not qualified because of some really simple mistakes and she said that no need to wait you can take the test again and you will pass so did I. I did both my knowledge and skills test here. This place is hands down the best testing company/facility in all of the Greater Seattle Area! I'm confident that these other reviews leaving bad ratings for this specific location have no idea what "good service" means, or failed to study properly and are blaming this location for not being "easy enough" for them to pass with. I did a lot of research before deciding to come here, and I'm really glad I chose this place.I've had 8 years of driving experience, but since I've got a license from Ontario, I had to do the written and driving skills tests all over again to be licensed in WA. This facility accommodates same-day knowledge tests, and early morning skills test bookings; I booked skills test for 7am on a Saturday, and was done before 8am (usually would take the full hour)! I bought the package that had the 40 minute "warm up" before the test started; I believe the cost was $90. The knowledge test was a separate $20, both prices of which are reasonable, given the quality of service and the test vehicle they let you use (especially because this is also a driving school).This review is going to be 5 parts: the website, the written test, the company/facility, the skills test/examiner, and the car provided. There will be an "overall" rating, as well as a "value for money" rating, since a lot of folks don't tend to talk about these pieces either.Website: 9/10; There wasn't much wrong with the website, outside of the form needing a "parent/guardian", despite the fact that I'm 25 (I trolled the website and got a funny response from the person at the facility). The major thing I disliked about it was being unable to know whether or not I'd get to rewrite the test if I failed it right away, although booking the written test itself was quick and easy. A great part of this experience was that the school called me that morning saying I could come in anytime that day to get tested, since they'd already processed my payment and my registration for testing (there's no specific time you need to go in).Written test: 9/10. The cool part about this place is that if you fail it, you can do it again the same day. It's multiple choice, just like every other place that tests, but it seems that this place has different "types" of tests, which have very fast answer key matches to tell whether or not someone failed. This place was awesome - the area to write written tests was spotless, but somewhat bland. There's a "classroom" in the back area where the driving school takes place - there were kids coming in to attend the 1pm class as I was leaving. Kathy was my examiner; she was incredibly personable, and the entire time we were in the car (from the warm-up to the exam), she was extremely professional and helpful, telling me what I could improve on for various techniques, and giving me refreshers for techniques that would be tested that I had forgotten. She had some entertaining stories about her life outside of being an instructor, which I found to be great, because the driving examiners I've had in the past felt drone-like and impersonal. I didn't even know the hour was up by the time the test was over - that's how comfortable I was during this entire test (and I have chronic test anxiety performance issues).Car: 10/10. It's a pretty standard testing / driving school vehicle, decked out with the 911 Driving School logo on the outside. The car handles nicely, has a good set of brakes, and is very generic in terms of the overall driving experience (which is important - you need to have the most "normal" experience learning how to drive with this car, or at least warming up on it if you're testing with it - "quirks" like a weird turning angle or engine issues where the car won't accelerate naturally are terrible and should not be in cars used to test or learn basic driving skill).Overall: 10/10; Value for money: 10/10. I am glad to have taken the 40 minute warm-up option, as I was able to practice critical techniques that would be tested afterwards, such as hill parking, parallel parking, and backwards driving around a corner (all of which I had become rusty in). The examiner was great, the facility and staff were helpful and very efficient, and I felt like a valued customer the entire time I was there.I would highly recommend this establishment for anyone wanting a driving skills or knowledge test. Not impressed. I will say the cops were good teachers. Front desk personnel were stupid and frustrating to deal with regarding scheduling. They rarely answer their phone and there is no message option. Even while i was at their front desk and the phone was ringing I told the stupid lady she could answer it as i didn't mind. She says she doesn't answer it if she's doing something else. Wow! No wonder i couldn't get through to schedule or cancel drive sessions. Business end needs a lot of improvements. First I started my knowledge test with Issaquah branch. Front desk was ok but I had to take the test in a very noisy environment. The road test instructor was too stiff and made me even more nervous. Then I decided to take a warm up and road test with Kirkland office. Front desk was very polite, prompt and helpful. Then the instructor was far too much friendlier than former instructor and he was very motivating and helpful during the warm up and cool at test (whilst the other instructor yelled at me for slowing down at the intersection) his name was Denny, go with him- you will not regret! The young woman that works the front desk is driving customers away in droves with her bad attitude! She is rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. She is the face that sets customer's first impression--And it's not a good one!I hope her boss makes an effort to teach this young woman the basics of customer service. I brought 2 friends to take their knowledge test there and the first day we were very badly greeting.  The lady at the front desk is very rude and treat you really bad. We had a 6 years old boy with us and he politely asked for a pen to draw and she was absolutely mean to him. Her face shows right there that she definitely hates her job and she shows it to costumers.  Well I forgave her because she is pregnant and as I am too I sympathized with her, but then I came back with another person to take the test. She was even worse and I had enough. I will never ever bring anyone there again. I hope someone takes an attitude! Read Less

I know I shouldn't posted review here because I went to 911 Driving School of Seattle, but I want to share my experience and thoughts. I took knowledge test in 2012 in 911 Driving School Bellevue location. I just remember in general it was a great experience, personal were friendly, I passed I got 100. However after 3 years I decided to get driving license.  I am so happy that I took driving classes with 911 Seattle Driving School. There school is new in NE Seattle location but its a great location and best experience. I sighed up for 5 driving classes. My instructor was Robert Hensley(I know that he is teaching in Bellevue location as well so I thought I should share my experience here as well). Highly recommend him! He is friendly, very patient, and professional instructor. He did a great job and made me feel confident enough. So after my second class he told me he is gonna testing me for real driving test(but practicing!). Today was my third class, it was dark , rainy and slippery road. He told me to do parallel parking, park and start on hill, and etc. I made couple mistakes but I thought I still practicing and when it will be real test i will not make any mistakes. So when I drove back to driving school he count all my deductible points and said "You've got 86 points, You passed your driving test, congratulations". Next step -  go to driving license office and get driver license. I can't believe that I am passed after two classes. I didn't drive before and I practice only once with someone. I though he was joking... however he wasn't. He said he doesn't want to waste my money, I am good to go. Does the company tell you save your money? I don't think so.. Highly recommend 911 Driving School! I read a lot of review before sign up and I decided to stick with 911 Driving school even I don't remember I took knowledge test here.   They are really good, trust me. This review is primarily for the new University District that opened this Fall. I had started my driver's education in New York City and had a negative experience with the driving school I attended there. They did not do an adequate job preparing me for the NYC road test and I moved to Seattle sans license. Fortunately, I found the 911 Driving School and right from the beginning, I felt like I was in much better hands. Everyone I've encountered from the customer service manager and the instructors have been very kind and supportive. I can't say enough good things about Robert, who was my main instructor and owner of the school. I was able to pass the driving test with less classes than I signed up for and have been offered a refund for the unused classes. I highly recommend this school; my only regret is that I didn't find them sooner! Read Less

Their on-line sign up for driving is very easy to use with up to date technology with text and email reminders. There are plenty of time slots to choose from. Wish I could give this place zero stars. The workers there were rude and unaccommodating. I went there to take my drivers test and the guy clearly didn't know what he was doing. First off, he didn't check if the break lights, turn signals, etc. were working, which was a telltale sign of poor testing, then he proceeded to yell at me and make me very uncomfortable throughout the test. He then failed me. Needless to say, it was a waste of time, money, and effort to go here. Maybe he was just having a bad day but If I were you, I wouldn't take your drive test here! Read Less

I took both the knowledge and the driving test here. It was quick and painless. The people working here were very polite. For the driving test I used their provided car and I also did a 40 minute warmup session before the actual test. The warmup was really helpful to get used to the car dimensions and handling, and to also practice the test maneuvers. The instructor was very polite and gave me good feedback. During the warmup we also rehearsed the maneuvers I performed the worst at.After taking the driving test, they immediately updated my DOL application, so I was able to go straight to the DOL office and get my license. I was able to schedule the driving test very early in the morning (7 - 8am), which enabled me to reach the DOL office before it opened at 8:30, thus avoiding the long lines. Read Less

The staff was great.  They kept us updated on what the kids learned and their progress.  We even received a few follow messages after completion.  I highly recommend 911 Driving in Marysville and will be enrolling another kid next fall! Read Less

I'm posting this review here because if it hadn't of been for these guys I never would have known to go over to the 911 Driving School on Evergreen way (they don't have a yelp page of their own). I had gone to the Marysville location in hopes of possibly being able to squeeze in a drive test appointment but the really friendly receptionist told me they were booked but to call the Evergreen location and let them know I was coming since it was on a walk-in basis and they were closing soon. I cannot express how impressed I was by this school. My drive instructor was Clay, and he was honestly the sweetest and most caring examiner in the world. You could really tell he wanted me to do well. He did his job correctly, but also made sure that I felt safe and eased up the tension by getting to know me a bit prior to the test and making me feel confident throughout it. Now, I'm someone who went through a lot of crap with Margo's driving school over in smokey point and they made me feel like there was no hope left for me..but 911 driving school made me realize how good of a driver I really am. I could ramble on and on about the issues I faced at the other school but I've already posted a review about them so if you want to know what happened its on that page. However, my main point here is that if you go to 911 Driving School you won't regret it. They really do believe in each person and want them to succeed (at least that's what I gathered from testing there and observing a bit).Let me put it this way. I went to Margo's and failed by a point and a half due to the examiner being unfair and probably the entire school being money hungry..and went to 911 and passed with a 90 all in the same day. How could this happen?? Because one school was only out to get my money and the other believed in me. I would recommend them to everyone, especially the Evergreen location. What an amazing place this is! I can't explain how much I appreciate every officer here at 911 driving school. I've recently passed my 1 year mark since passing my DOL test (90 on knowledge test and 92 on skills test) and I have NOT been in an accident and have NOT been pulled over and given a ticket and it's all thanks to this school. I had a lot of anxiety about driving and just thinking about it would make me sick to my stomach but having actual police officers teaching me how to drive made me feel at ease and I wasn't nervous at all because I knew I was with someone who knew all the rules to driving and I felt confident that I was driving the right way. Here at 911 driving school they really teach you so much and go into great details When teaching you all the odds and ends of driving. Not to mention the classroom is so much fun! I know a lot of kids are like "police officers are mean and uptight" but that is NOT true at all! The officers here are funny and really welcoming, I felt like I could laugh and be myself in the classroom while learning all I needed to be a successful driver. This is the only driving school you as a parent should consider! Very knowledgeable instructors/police officers. They made it a very enjoyable experience for our daughter! She is now an amazing driver! We can't thank you enough. We always were kept in the loop and the class and driving schedule was very accommodating. We are very lucky to have you in our community! The best driving school!!!  The police officers are very educated and pass on that knowledge thoroughly to the students!!  Our first child took the class and we look forward to our second child being educated by this great group of police officers!!!  My oldest child comments on all the things she has learned and has taught me a thing or two!!! Definitely worth the money! This driving school is the best place to learn how to drive. As a student, I have learned a lot from the instructors who are police officers. They are very patient and care about their students. Most of my friends who have gone to different driving schools sound like they did not like driver's ed. Compared to them, I actually enjoy going to class. 911 Driving School is an excellent choice. Read Less

I recommend this driving school to anyone and everyone. The instructors are so dedicated to their students. They really make sure they go the extra mile to help the kids learn all of the necessities to be a safe driver. My son comes home every night excited to tell me what they learned in class that day. The instructors are awesome! They tackle all of the real issues that arise, and know exactly how to deal with them because they're actual police officers. I have actually tried 4 driving schools, including this one. I know, sad but true. I was an extremley nervous driver and was afraid I would never get my liscense. I was instructed by Jack Scott, and unlike my previous instructors, he never once raised his voice to me or showed any frustration whatsoever. He was so calm and so incredibley patient and that made me feel calm and secure. I am not easy to teach, because of a mixture of learning disablities and because I was so scared of driving. I am so happy and thankful to say I FINALLY got my drivers liscense at the age of 29! And I passed with a 98! I am so thankful for the patience and encouragement of this school and this instructor. He also encouraged me to spend more time behind the wheel with my husband instead of wasting tons of money on private lessons. Honestly I have yet to meet anyone who is at patient and calm as Jack Scott was. I am so thankful and I am thanking God that I can FINALLY drive myself and my children around.
