On March 27,2018 an officer wrote me a ticket in Newport News, Virginia stating that I was speeding 46/25 on Stratford Road and Warwick Blvd. That’s reckless driving. I admitted to driving a little fast but I also knew that I was not going that fast. Two days later, I signed the ticket stating that I was guilty and paid $192 because I saw that the court date (April 27,2018) was the same day that I was planning on going out of town. I knew reckless driving was going to take my insurance up so I signed up to take the 1 Stop Driving Improving Program to get some points on my record. In the classroom, Mr. Jerome told us to always go to court and plead no content instead of guilty because you never know what the judge will do. He also informed us that reckless driving stays on our account for 11 years. That means 11 years with high insurance. He told the class to get our cars speedometer calibrated. After listening to him, I realize I had screwed up big time by pleading guilty and choosing not to go to court. On our lunch break in class, I called the court and told the lady that I changed my mind and wanted to go to court. She put my ticket back in so I could go to court but she could not give me a refund until after I saw the judge. A week later, the Lord lead me to go back to the site where the officer ticketed me, just to find out that the speed limit was 35 instead of 25. I took photos of the street names and the street speed limit signs and printed them out for court. I took this proof showing the officer's mistake, a copy my speedometer calibration and my drivers improvement certificate to court today. When I went before the judge, I gave him everything and he dismissed my case based on all my PERSONAL DETECTIVE WORK. The court is going to refund $126.00 back to me. If I hadn’t taken the driving improvement class, I would not have known my options. This is Zhao, and this review is long past due. Well, I can say for sure that you won't be disappointed with this driving school. I have not taken their classroom instructions but those are not as important as the behind the wheel portion of your journey for getting that license. Because there are only one way for you to learn how to drive compared to the many ways of getting instructions in a classroom. Jerome is a very good driving instructor, the price for behind the wheel is $400 for 7 days but that will be worth your money. Jerome will start the 7 day class with just the basics and 25MPH road, he'll do that for about two days, and you will go on a slightly faster but empty road on day 3, day 4 and 5 he will push you out of your comfort zone and get you on the high way and roads with busy traffic. You won't be learning parking and parallel parking until the last two days. Personally, I think this is what made Jerome's behind the wheel an excellent class because he constantly pushes you out of your comfort zone but also gives you guidance on how to master this part of driving, in addition, he offered me to drive around some more with him once I have my own car. I had a previous driving instructor who spent almost all 7 days on a big but empty parking lot, driving around pretending that it was a road, I still didn't know how to drive after finishing the 7 days class, they wanted me to pay for another 7 days but I got out of my previous driving school and went into this one, best decision I have ever made.
