My wife obtained her Virginia Learner's Permit and was driving while I was with her in the car for around 2 months, but needed more confidence to drive on her own, so I decided to check Yelp and find a good driving school for her.  Yelp showed AA Plus Driving School as the top choice.  I called the main number and after talking with the owner, Mr. Nasim Ijaz, I decided to enroll my wife in the Adult Waiver Program which is comprised of Classroom and Behind the Wheel Training (No DMV Road Test will be required) for $ 450.  Adult Waiver Program includes 30 hours of classroom or online driver's education instructions and 7 sessions of behind the wheel training.  We decided to go for the 30 hours of classroom because I thought my wife will be able to focus more in the classroom than online.  I was wrong because the only day the class instructor was present in the class was the first day.  The other days the class instructor was in his office and my wife a long with 1 or 2 students were watching videos and reading the class book on their own.  The class was 3 hours long (from 9 am till noon).  Total number of 8 classes (8 days, 3 hours per day) were needed to complete the material. The ninth day was the exam day.  The material was more condensed and detailed than the material needed to get your Virginia Learner's Permit.  However, since the classroom is just for videos and the students will have to read the material on their own, I would recommend the online driver's education.Regarding the 7 sessions of behind the wheel training, the driving instructor Louiza was a good coach for my wife.  She was patient, but pushed her to expand her driving experience. She helped my wife gain the confidence and also explained the technical aspects of driving.  Our problem was the scheduling.  Louiza is so busy and you would need to accommodate her schedule more than she would need to accommodate your schedule.  As for getting your license, you will not get it right after you pass your driving test nor will you get it the day after. It will take a couple of days until Louiza or the driving instructor contact you and deliver the Virginia Driver Training Completion Certificate - Adult Waiver to you.  You will then need take it to DMV, have your picture taken, then you will get your driver's license in the mail. They know the best solutions when you're in trouble with the law or becoming a new driver. They really work with you one on one if you need to understand more on certain areas. Professional setting that helps even the most new and nervous drivers feel comfortable driving. This is the place to get your license, even you believe you're late to the game like I am. I'm a 22 year old, recent college grad and I decided to finally get my license with AA+ Driving School. I signed up for the Adult Waiver Program, which consists of doing a quick online class and then at least week of driving.The online class is with the National Driver Training Institute, a nationally recognized driver's ed program. There are seven chapters/levels, each with a quick 50 multiple choice exam after all of them based on all aspects of driving. While I had already done driver's ed in sophomore year high school, it was much another repeat. Unfortunately, the program is very dated--much of their information is based on 1990's statistics, where in fact car technology and social behaviors change, so I found some of the information pretty much useless, but still a reminder here and there in some aspects.Of course, the only way to learn how to drive and get experience would be behind the wheel. After you complete the course, you complete seven hours of driving with your instructor. It was pretty convenient because they conform to your busy schedule, and drop/pick you up straight from your house. My instructor was Osei, a very friendly, patient, kind, and helpful man who had been teaching for 28 years at the time I was with him he said. After just a couple minutes with him, he knows your strengths and weaknesses driving, and will help you fix even the smallest errors each session. I found myself laughing and connecting with him most of days I was practicing with him and most definitely has some jokes.After the seven days, you get your blue sheet which you take to the DMV and get issued a permanent driver's license. I'd recommend this school to anyone and everyone, especially to first-time drivers.  I'm a transplant to VA from New York City.  I'm in my late thirties and never had a driving lesson before this school.  When I started taking lessons, I'd barely been behind the wheel, and had my permit only for a year.  My instructor was patient, awesomely competent, and full of advice and tips on how to be a safe and effective driver.  He gave me the space to get used to being behind the wheel, and then successfully added on teaching me about the extra elements that, combined, make a person a good driver.I'm happy to say that after my lessons at this school, and with the guidance my instructor gave me, I'm the proud owner of my very first license.Thank you for everything.  You've been integral in me gaining my independence in a place where not driving is not an option. I am very impressed with this driving school, I really did come in here thinking this was going to be the longest 8 hours of my life. But the moment I walked in I was welcomed with smiles and the class was not boring at all. The instructor, Mr. Abid was very interesting very engaging and made the best out of the 8 hours as possible. He’s very caring and kind and wants you to pass. There’s only so much fun you can put into a driving improvement class and he really did. Very clean and there’s so much available parking. AA plus driving school is quick on the response after I registered. Once I got the email I called them and mentioned that I found them on yelp and I got a 10% discount, which is a plus.  Their customer service is on point up until my son had to get his 180 days DL in hand.  My son scheduled for his behind the wheel and completed it.  The instructor told him that he could pick up his 180 days DL at the office in a couple of days but to call first, which we did after a couple days has passed.  Had to LM with a gentleman and he said that the instructor would give my son a call back.  A few days later still no call from the instructor so I had my son call and text the instructor to find out the status.  Nothing..no call or text.  Finally got in touch with the instructor after 2 weeks of multiple phone calls and texts.  She said she would stop by the house with the paperwork so it can be completed, which is fine, but I wish this was done or suggested 2 weeks ago.  Paperwork completed for my son's 180 days DL.  We were told that the Courts would mail us more paperwork to go to a Juvenile Driver's License Ceremony in a week or so, which I found out later that it would be the last 30 days of the 180 days DL expires.  Other than the lack of information given this company was perfect for my son to achieve his 180 days DL.  Much appreciated. They are fake and make false promises. I took classroom and behind the wheel package and made the payment of $300. I paid extra $250 to Louisa who is the most unprofessional lady I have ever met. I was pregnant then and wanted to take a break of few months and resume the classes afterwards which I have informed her. I called her many times, messaged her but with no avail. Louisa takes break for smoking and teaches you nothing. Luckily I have learnt driving but lost my $550 because of this dupe driving school. Save yourself Read Less

I've been loathing taking this class only to find it surprisingly pleasant especially for an 8 hour class.  The instructor is a cool down to earth dude who truly wants you to pass this class. There are 10 minute breaks integrated into basically every hour, there's a shopping center nearby (3 minute walk) you're worried about the lunch situation. The material is very digestible, also the instructor makes the class very interactive. He creates an safe space where you don't feel ashamed to be here or afraid to ask questions. I had some reservations initially since I was not familiar with the company, but I went into the office personally, and the manager was very patient and willing to explain everything in detail, and show me any records I needed to review to be comfortable. They also respected our requirement for maintaining personal information privacy and request for female only driver, Luiza. She went out of her way to make sure our experience was comfortable. Completed the course within an 8 day span of time, but we had flexibility in our schedule. If you don't have an open day every day, then it might be trickier for you to coordinate, but it worked out great for us. I marked 5 stars because everything important was done to our satisfaction. The only suggestion I would make is to keep the instructors car cleaner (free from food debris and resident cigarette smell mixed with strong air freshener smell that gets in kids clothing). Other than that, we very much appreciated that it all work out great and Luiza is nice and professional with kids throughout. Read Less

Like many people, I got a speeding ticket. I was advised to take drivers improvement classes (a total of 12 hours). This was not something I was looking forward to as I have sat in drivers improvement classes before and it would have been less torture if I had to watch paint dry on the wall. Well, you would not believe it. This was a great experience at AA plus! Both of the instructors are such kind gentleman, and they really care. Something that stuck out to me that one instructor said was "Don't be shy to ask questions or answer questions, there is no right or wrong answer". This took a lot of pressure off the class, and therefore we had a good time and there was no awkward silence. I would say this is the best driving school in all of Virginia! (I have been to many in my lifetime haha). 5 stars for good and kind instructors, kind receptionist, and the price was right. Thank you so much AA for such a great experience and taking care of me! I had to take an 8 hour improvement class due to getting a ticket for disobeying a traffic sign and everyday leading up to it, i was dreading it. All I could think about was how slow the time will go by. I got lost on the way there and I called for directional help and the staff is nothing but kind and helped me find my way to the center. The instructor is so witty and fun that it made 8 hours feel like the fraction of the time. I definitely feel more informed and gained more road knowledge. I highly recommend this place to anyone who needs to take an improv class. I left with a smile on my face from the jokes made and the light heart because I got this out the way. Read Less

I had the best driving instructor ever her name is Miss . Louiza . She is an amazing instructor for someone like me who does suffered with really bad anxiety disorder and panic attacks she made me felt very comfortable and she also helped me become a better driver and I ended up passing my driving test with her . I also made some friends with some of the students who did behind the wheels with me . I really enjoy this one week session with her and it's so sad for me to leave because my session is finished  with her . I really wish I could stay a little bit more longer with Miss. Louiza , I still stay in touch with her . Soooo I got a speeding ticket, I opted to take a drivers improvement class to get points. I searched all over the northern Virginia area for reasonable priced classes that would fit my schedule. This was last on my list of schools to call, I was so happy I called AA Plus. I was charged $150 for the 8 hour and 4 hour course because I got a student discount. Other places I was looking at charged way more for just the 8 hour course and it was so far from home. I was afraid that this school would be fitting of its price, but I had a wonderful teacher! Mr Aabid was helpful and made the 8 hours fly by so quickly! Seriously. I never looked at my phone once. I learned so much about him and driving. The students attending the course were super diverse and friendly. I made a lot of friends in the class, which I did not expect! More importantly, this class made me feel accepted... A lot of the people in this class had speeding tickets and the teacher was understanding. He was extremely patient. He didn't stand there and condemn us for speeding he actually talked about methods for reducing speeds and ways to prevent accidents.At the end he gave us a final exam and let's just say I'm a happy camper! I took the seven hour driving lessons and am very glad to have made the right choice. The instructor was very patient, professional and encouraging . I had few experiences with other driving schools and noticed that with this one the instructor was always on time and never had cancelled any class. The 8 hour driver improvement clinic was very entertaining for an 8 hour class. There were several breaks in between the class so it would be bearable. The instructors are funny and make sure you understand the material. The price of the class is affordable, which is awesome. This is a review on behind the wheel for teenagers. AA driving school was amazing. My instructor was Louiza and she was amazing. She was not intimidating and took great care of me. She didn't yell at me but was very patient and kind with me. She made me feel comfortable and taught me so much. She even made little talk and I felt the bond. The timing is very convenient and works with your schedule as long as you talk to her. She's one of the BEST driving instructors in the world. I LOVED every lesson with her and looked forward to it.
