Don't believe the one star reviews. This guy was excellent. He's really willing to be flexible with your schedule and is great at communicating. I was super nervous about learning to drive, but he was very reassuring. We got on the road quickly and safely. I was able to learn everything in just under a month. I completed the DMV road test waiver program for adults (driving lessons + classroom component) w/ Quam. He was great. I was very anxious when I tried to learn how to drive as a teen, and I sort of gave up on ever learning. Then I recently turned 30 and decided to try again. Quam was very patient with my anxiety and made me feel much more comfortable behind the wheel. I really didn't think I'd ever get there, so that's saying a lot. Would definitely recommend. Read Less

Highly recommend for driver improvement clinic. Instructor is humorous and tries to make the class go as painless as possible. It's still incredibly boring because of the outdated 90s videos, but the instructor is very helpful in providing tips and anecdotes to become a better driver. You have to walk around to the front of the building (if you park in the back due to no front parking spots) to be let in through the lobby. The room is pretty small and cramped, but it's no big deal. The instructor provides a lunch break and a couple 15min breaks so you get to stretch out from time to time. There are multiple lunch options across the street and a Dunkin Donuts if you want to grab a coffee before the class starts. Read Less

Jeez. I'm not the type of person to write a bad review but this place is ridiculous when it comes to customer service. 1) their website is false advertisement. 2) the hours are horrible 4) I called left a voice mail requesting a appointment and got no call back. 3) did a walk in too to set an appointment, went in on a day that was "open" and no one was in 4) I was requesting Wednesday (which was a day that was suppose to be an open day for that class) an I got an answer like no we're not doing those days just Saturday's. I work Saturdays and wanted a weekday (I even requested a month away for an 8hr class, if their book was that full but he still said no). He's like oh go somewhere else then. This school is the best. I did try two other schools in the Alexandria area before coming to Metro Driving School and neither of them ( although highly quoted) have not met in my view, the quality of service that this school provides. I would like to share the distinct qualities that in my view makes them really good: I did 14 hours behind the wheel driving with Quam. I had my driving licence from another country and never drove here in US. I always resisted it after an accident that I had in the past. Quam made this experience so smooth and seamless. He is calm, patient and always very positive. He always greets you with a smile and will be fully supportive while you drive. I never felt so comfortable driving. The thing that I was so fearful to do, has now turned into something that I enjoy doing. Quam is a great teacher. He is genuine and he truly cares about your safety and that of your family. He will be very direct and yet constructive and respectful. He is very grounded and real. He will take you step by step into the process and you will leave your driving refreshed and more confident. I teach for a living and I know the learning process needs to be broken in chunks that you repeat over and over to build the muscle of your competency. Getting Quam's help has truly been amazing for my journey. Oh and of course he is very punctual and quick in responding to your text messages. I finish my last chunk of classroom training this Saturday and I should be heading to the DMV soon to get my licence and be a free woman:) Thank you MetroDriving School and thank you Quam. Got a reckless driving ticket. So ended up having to take an 8 hour driver improvement clinic class. So this place I heard about from my brother. The instructor is a great guy! Very friendly. The location of the class is a small crammed apartment. But hey, it does the job. Read Less

I am learning to drive for the first time as a 45 year old. I was nervous and very unsure of myself.  I drive under a restricted learners due to a medical condition. Pros: The instructor is constantly giving feedback.He picks you up and drops you off at your home.You can pay with paypal.Cons: The instructor does not have a secretary to answer his calls so he routinely answers calls during the lesson. I have to note that I did not feel unsafe with this, just annoyed that he was less focused.He was routinely 20 mins. late without giving advanced notice.He eventually stopped answering texts.He is also too chatty for my liking and constantly told me to relax when I was not feeling nervous.He made me drive in a busy area on the first day when I told him I had no experience driving.
