I was wary of this company when I saw a checklist on their website that actually reads, "THESE ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR TEST - BUT MUST BE TAKED TO DPS TO GET DRIVERS LICENSE". That should have been a red flag not to use this company, but we decided that we weren't using their school, just their services for the road test. We paid them $70 for the DPS Road Test that they graded as "good" throughout with nothing major other than not turning your head 180 degrees. However, they still gave a failing grade, then kept an important form that was not theirs to keep. It seems pretty obvious that they fail a certain percentage of students in order to make more money. We will take the road test at a much more professional driving school and would not recommend Green Light to anyone. Read Less

HORRIBLE PLACE!!! Did a practice test before the official road test and the man was very nice. But when it came time for the real one "Terry" was very rude and only gave nasty and unsettling looks. Counted off for points for left turns (understandable) and said that my hand would go through my face and if I didn't die on impact my face would be so deformed I would, " want to kill yourself." No one I have ever come across has who took the test with "Terry" has had a positive experience. Also, with a 96 grade on the test he said that I should not be allowed to drive for a long time. My son took his road test today. I watched as the testers interacted with several students. They were friendly, and disarming to each of the students. I saw several young people go from very nervous to being ready to go. When my son's turn came, the tester was kind and clear. My son said that after the test the tester complimented what he did well and explained where a few problems resided. Additionally, in getting an appointment, we had to reschedule a few times because of problems that arose on our side. They were very accommodating and helpful with that as well. When we were done, the lady who checked us in explained what we could expect at DPS and what line we needed to make certain we got into. Overall, a thoroughly positive experience! Read Less

I can't speak to the driving lessons, but my son took his state road test here and it was a wonderful experience!He did not have to wait in a crowded waiting area full of people was out on the road within about 15 minutes and had a wonderful encounter all the way around.Of course you still have to go to the DMV to get the license issued but at least you don't have to deal with road testing there.Thanks Greenlight! My son took DPS road test here. Long wait for test at DPS. GLDA were very thorough but very friendly. I brought the wrong form and they allowed me to email it to them right then. They printed it off and helped me fill it out. Instructor was friendly but detail oriented. Explained mistakes made during test to us afterwards. I would recommend them. Read Less

Horrible, you learn nothing in the boring unconditionally cold classrooms and then you're expected to know more than what is taught by the time you're doing your drivetimes. I would never recommend this course to anyone I know because it's overpriced and taking a driving test is no different if not worse than taking the test at the dps. I have a child with ADHD learning to drive.  They were patient and were willing to extend my year out a bit further so he could gradually progress; he needed more time.  We never had a difficult time scheduling drive time.  You do have to take some time to wait for times to open, but with one local driving school, it is going to take a little patience to get a slot.  You have to do your job and monitor the openings after 7pm on Monday evening.  It was not a big deal and I am not sure the reason for one star.  We go to the Coppell location.  They are excellent. The only thing I could recommend is a quick remedial program where the kid can get some tutoring in between drives.  They do not offer tutoring. Read Less

Warning: This is the worst place to send your kids to learn to drive. Listen to the other reviews. They charge for every little things. To schedule a drive time you have to be online at an exact time every week and hope to get a slot. We made the mistake of not reading the reviews. Their dmv testing people are absolutely stupid and look for every way to make you take the test again and charge you another fee to retake. Go somewhere else. Horrible people and just plain rude. Greenlight was great alternative for my sons road test. After we had to cancel our DMV appt due to missing paperwork they cut our wait time from 2 mo ths down to 1week compared to the DMV. We had a great experience on the day of his roadtest. Showed up about 55 minutes early, got checked in and he was is the car less then 10 minutes later. We were in and out in about 40 minutes. I would recommend this driving school to everyone!! My daughter took the class & we plan on our other two children to be taught by them. It was stress free & they were will to work with the students! Check out their Google reviews. Not good. They have awful customer service and a flawed infuriating drive scheduling system. They can take away your drive time but if you make a mistake or have an emergency cough up the exorbitant fee. They just don't seem to have any interest in the clients once they've gotten your money as evidenced by their email responses to questions or concerns, phone conversations with staff and in-person experiences on various occasions. Listen  to the negative reviews.  They take your money and then hold you hostage. You have no recourse for any issues. I've checked Google reviews and they are similarly poor. I can't speak to  quality of instruction as my teen didn't say much about it . Based on his comments one or two of the driving instructors instructors may be iffy. But their two biggest faults are the frustrating, nerve-wracking scheduling system- for which they will provide no help - and the awful customer service. I've had 3 or more separate occasions necessitating contact in various forms. Email responses are snide and useless, phone call and in-person they are snippy and not at all helpful. I'm deeply disappointed and wish we could be finished but we can't. You invest too much money to go elsewhere or not finish. Read Less

Do NOT send your kids to this school!!!  It is impossible to get drive times, you have to sit on your computer and wait for them to post times because it gets full in minutes.  They change the rules on you.  They charge for everything. They LIE, one person will tell you the rules is this and put you on hold and the next person will tell you the exact opposite!  The front office staff are the RUDEST most UNPROFESSIONAL people I have ever dealt with!DO NOT GIVE ONE PENNY TO THIS SCHOOL!!!!! This is the school if you want to waste your money. They really dont teach your kids how to drive or the rules of the road. They sit in a classroom and read a book, the same one at the DMV, and expect the students to learn everything they need to know. Then they sit in a car with an instructor that marks a little card with things the PARENTS are supposed to teach and correct. During the driving the instructors do not  give any feed back or advice to the new driver. I paid my money to have the school teach my kids and not put it back on me to teach them. My daughter came home crying because one of the instructors yelled at her and told her to "shut up".  I think the instructors are all sub-par and should all be dismissed from the position they hold as "instructor". I am also disgusted that the High schools pretty much endorse these bozos. There are other good driving schools out there. Read Less

On my daughter's first driving time with instructor, he humiliated her by making her get out of car & hug a stop sign.  The same instructor on her last lesson was extremely negative to both kids in his car & later same instructor went as far to make fun of my child by using her by name as example, saying to students in his car, "you don't want to fail your 7th & 8th lesson like her."  This was completely inappropriate & unprofessional, definitely not the type of guy you want teaching your child. Don't waste your money here. Trying to schedule drive time is an exercise in futility. This is my forth daughter to attend drivers education and we have never had such a frustrating time as we've had with green light driving academy. We signed our daughter up with them because they operate out of her school, but good luck getting any drive times from Trophy Club. If you don't cancel your drive 24 hours in advance for any reason, you will be billed $25, payable before your student will be allowed to drive again. We were told this $25 fine was required because the instructor was going to get paid regardless of having both students. What they don't tell you is that the slot will be opened and all subscribers notified so that they can book another student and double their profit. I believe this to be illegal as billing should only take place if the slot cannot be filled. If you care to be nickeled and dimmed to death and have drivers education drag on for six months then by all means sign on with Green Light driving academy of Grapevine/trophy club. Read Less

They would not give it to me. They gave me some long explanation about an alcohol and tobacco program that is automatically added to the Trophy club program so they couldn't give me the discount. Too early and too tired to argue while I was there.I do know they offered to charge an extra $15 for an alcohol certificate so I'm confused. Called them back after I arrived home and they gave me a similar explanation. The web site doesn't indicate anything about any alcohol and tobacco program providing the discount. It only indicates that the discount is activated by paying cash or check. I think they are either confused or they did not print it correctly on their web site. Either way it's not cool to mislead the public. I hope they get it corrected on their web site soon.A few hours later: .... They emailed me back and apologized. Turns out there is a different agreement with Byron Nelson High School so the $15 cash discount can't apply. Kudos to them because they made it up to me in another way since they graciously mentioned the confusion existed. I like companies that make it up to you. I would recommend them to anyone. Read Less
