Oh man, where do I begin? To start, I wasn't as lucky as Wai to have such a patient instructor, but he did at least teach me the basics as to how to work a clutch. The first day was great! I started out on a Honda Grom and I thought it was pretty awesome considering it was the first motorcycle I've even sat on. The clutch was a little tricky at first, considering how sensitive it is compared to other bikes, but by the end of the first day, I was very confident in my riding! So confident in fact, that I went out and purchased a brand new 2017 matte black Grom! And just so you all know, I do not ever plan to take my Grom on the interstate. My reason for taking this class was to learn to ride so I could get something to cruise around on the street with, nothing more or less then that. I couldn't help but to drive it around a little when it was delivered to me. Anyways, I used the clutch and switched gears perfectly, so I figured the second day would be a piece of cake! Boy, was I WRONG. The second day started out as normal, but he decided to make us switch bikes! I was switched over to a larger and much heavier bike, something I would never even buy, but it did have an easier clutch to use which turned out to be a blessing and a curse. I drove that bike fine, but when he told us to switch over to our original bikes, it seemed I lost my touch with the Grom!  Now rather then Dave (our instructor) being patient with us, he seemed to get a little testy with some of us because I wasn't the only one having an issue. Long story short, he made one girl cry by telling her "I'm really trying to be patient with you" and he caught an attitude and demonstrated poor professionalism with some of us throughout the rest of the day. Needless to say, I passed the final test, but I do not feel comfortable taking my little Grom on the street just yet. It seemed as if Dave just wanted us out of his hair so he could enjoy the rest of his day. We were only in class the second day for 5 hours and that included more learning exercises and the final test. Lucky for me, I work with some awesome officers in my department who ride and they gladly accepted to pick up where Dave left off. This type of class seemed like it was geared towards people with previous clutch and motorcycle riding experience and I would not recommend this school to anyone else. I'm only giving two stars because I at least can ride my Grom around my empty parking garage instead of just staring at it now. Read Less

The BEST!!! I took this class last week. My trainer name was Sam. I was so nervous at first bc I didn't really know what to expect. To be honest right from the start he made everyone feel welcomed. He knows how to speak to people letting them know how to improve and by giving positive feedback. I can tell he enjoys what he does and that he cares. Not a true beginner's riding course. The instructor had to rush through 17 exercises in only 9 hours and there wasn't enough practice time to get the basics down before we move on to the next level. I get the philosophy of this class ==> 1.) Get the license. 2.) Learn to ride motorcycle on your own and try not to get killed. 3.) and then come back to take their advance class. I pass the class but feel that I could get a lot more out of this class. The class is fun but 9 hours is too short for me. But if you are looking for a chance to ride motorcycle safely with an instructor to show you how, this is the class to take if you don''t have friends or cousins who owns a mortorcycle. I had my first experience riding motorcycle and it was great. Make all the mistakes here and not on the street. And I will think very carefully before riding motorcycle in DFW area. This course helps me realize my weakness and what needs to work on and to help you realize the reality of motorcycle dangerous. I would suggest to encourage students to watch prework videos on basic riding like clutches and changing gear and friction zone. All of that stuff is totally strange to newbies. It's not a relaxed learning experience. Just rushing through to get things done. Read Less

As a brand new beginner, the instructor was REALLY patient. I didn't even know how to drive a stick shift car before my class! Everyone else in the class already knew how to ride a motorcycle, but they just wanted to make it legal. I was the only one who did not already know how to ride a bike. The instructor could easily have blown me off and just taught the class for all the other students, but he didn't. He stayed for a couple hours after the class ended to teach me. Now, that's dedication. I recommend them for sure! Thanks to Sam's patience, I am now a licensed motorcyclist. Vroom, vroom!!! Read Less

I thought the classroom portion instructional wise was well put together.  It was a group participation review.  However, inside the Yamaha shop (In Irving)  the workers were a bit insensitive to our class and were too loud for my liking.  That's not a knock on the instructors, just the people who work in the store.  On the range - Our conditions were less than ideal.  Cold and rainy.  Our instructors --( Ok shoot me- I forgot their names- Husband and wife who have pet ducks.  lol ) still made sure all materials were covered and we did the drills extensively as to make sure we all obtained the objectives of the drills.   The drills were well explained and well demonstrated.  I'm a 20 year + experienced rider needing to complete the course to get my class M endorsement and I completed the course with Confidence, relief and excitement.   We all had fun out there and all rode smart (and most of all - weren't douche bags) which made the time go by fast.  Even in the cold wet rain.   I am ready to roll on my VTX 1300 come Tuesday-- I'm so fired up.My only knock is that there are no porta potties out there.  So if you gotta go------- if you are a female,  well..  You are going to be a long while / wait as you would have to go in to one of the stores in the mall.    As for me - I'm a pig.  I'll go anywhere, which I did, while not holding up the class.  Hey- a dog goes outside- what is the difference?  seriously?Overall--  A great experience, great fun, well worth the fee. Outstanding school, amazing, perfect instructor In Don! Just recently got through a class c course with a teacher who yelled and made the driving test with the DMV the more relaxing part. So I was concerned about that issue. Well with Don it was the opposite: everything you want in an instructor: passionate about motorcycles, and as a plus, very into motorcycle safety and proper gear. Don was open to any and all questions, patient where one struggled, good and slow with instruction and just delighted and encouraging when students succeeded. He's where he wants to be, working with his passion and it shines through and makes Go Motorcycle an excellent place. Bikes were nice, helmets did the job, maybe bring your own gloves which don't have to be motorcycle but have some grip. I'll be looking forward to the advanced class down the road! Read Less

He really wants to make sure you understand how to use a motorcycle and wants you to be riding safe. I had a great experience and I'm sure if your wanting to take this class you will too! Read Less

Read Less

Great experience and take away. Took the Basic Rider 2 training to refresh safety habits, update bike control and maneuverability skills. Training was at the Irving Mall location, plenty of room to maneuver the bike with very few obstacles.Training is hard but you have to have fun, Instructor Sergio was able to balance riders current capabilities with the classroom facts and fundamentals.  Sergio is a great trainer and uses lighthearted interaction without loosing focus on the purpose of the training and safety awareness. Sergio interacts very well with every student, and adapts his teaching methods based on the individual student's needs. I came to the class with riding experience, but no formal training. Professional, quick course. Classroom work is done at a local Yamaha dealership. First half day is spent there, the rest of the day and next day are spent at a shopping mall parking lot.You will be certified by the time you leave, and simply show up to the DMV with your course completion card.Lots of maneuvering practice, including emergency stops, obstacle swerves, riding over an obstacle, constant speed turns, etc. No prior riding experience necessary. The instructor, Don, was very patient, funny, and experienced. The course is very well organized, and was a pleasure to attend.Only complaint is you will wait if someone forgot something like glasses, ankle high shoes, etc. We waited 20 minutes.
