Do a track day!  This was my first track day and it is a gas.  I have ridden motorcycles for 2 years and 22000 miles.   I would say I am a average intermediate rider.  My bike is the BMW 1200 GS.  So you may guess I am not a knee dragger.  The RideSmart school I took was in Cresson Texas at a dynamite track.  The school breaks down into 4 groups numbered 1, 2 and 3.  The beginners, 1 are further broken down into first timers and riders who have attended prior track days.   The beginner class was very well staffed with one instructor for every 6 to 8 students.  The day is broken into a series of sessions in which you are progressively given more riding coaching and classroom review.  Lots of riding!  And you get one on one coaching from your track sessions. There are extraordinary riders on very hot bikes.  I was welcomed and did not feel out to place on the GS.  Pros:- You will have a great time- Ridesmart makes it a safe and fun day- You will learn a lot about cornering, line planning and your bike- You will learn what you can do in a protected environment- First times get a loaner track suit- excellent organizationCons:- the track was almost 4 hours away- I am not as good as I thought I was Read Less

RideSmart is a school designed to give people the chance to take their bikes to a closed track and turn them loose, without the worries of speed limits, gravel or running into a post etc.. etc...Don't worry though, this is not a free for all out on the track.  It has been set up to give you the tools you will need to to make you become a better rider off and on the track.  You are set up in a group with how well you ride at the track(everyone starts out on level one their first time).  Coaches take the time to follow each person on the track to give them pointers and there is also set times for classrooms throughout the day.Worried about not having the right bike or gear for the track?  No worries, ridesmart offers free track suit rentals for those who don't have one on their first time.  Nearly every kind of bike is welcome.  They also offer video services at an extra fee and photos as well.So where do you ride at?  Well there are several tracks all over texas that you can ride on(usually on the weekends).  There are also special events at other tracks in ks, la etc...Overall this has been one of the best days every!  Everyone is friendly and helpful.  By the end of the morning i had learned so much and most of that could be applied to the streets, safety.   Basically the only complaint i had was being a newbie to this i didn't really know where i should be at what time, but after my friends explained it to me they had no problem.  There is a lot to cram into one day, so i was running around like crazy, which i didn't really like.   But i was for sure getting my monies worth! If you love riding on the street and really want to go have a good time and learn how to properly take a turn or just want to improve your safety skills this is totally worth it!
