Pros: easy to get an appointment (much easier than the DMV) so it's great if you're eager to get licensed right away. The route is simple and not intimidating.Cons: One of my evaluators didn't tell me if I had passed or failed until a few minutes after the test - I waited for him to stop writing until he told me I failed. Ideally, they would tell you your results immediately, because waiting that long to get a result is pretty anxiety-inducing.My second evaluator gave me "constructive" criticism, albeit in the most obnoxious way imaginable... He once said "people die on these roads and it's because of people like you." Was he helpful? No. Was he taking out personal frustrations out on me just because he could? Yes. I took my driver's test today with Mark and he was so pleasant to test with! I came in being nervous but ready, and he just eased my worries away by being calm throughout the test. He's very friendly and easy to talk with which is helpful when you're so nervous. The staff was nice, Mark gave great directions, and the car was easy to drive. I would recommend this company to anyone. :) I passed! And I didn't take any driving classes with them prior to this. You will for sure be in good hands! Read Less

They changed their policy so new driver have to drive their vehicles. This puts an unfamiliar car in the hands of a new driver and increased the risk of failure and an accident. We spoke to the DMV and apparently this policy is unusual. They are very nice, but look at other schools. Read Less

This place is very easy to get to--right next to the last stop on the blue line MAX.I had a great lesson with Skip before the test. He had a very soothing voice, was low key but friendly, put me at ease. I've had some lessons at other schools and this one was better than most if not all.I failed the test three times previously through the DMV. All the examiners were dicks. The examiner at Pacific Driver Education was nicer and calmer. I felt more relaxed with this examiner, though still nervous. I made a few small mistakes but passed. Read Less

I would like to thank both Pao and Skip for being one of the best instructors that I had while having them as my driving insturctors. They both taught me how to be aware of my surroundings and also to make sure to use my mirror, turning signal, left or right mirror and my blind spot. The instructors are amazing at what they do. Pao was my instructor. He provided information about situations that may happen even if they weren’t currently happening, and what to do in those situations. Driver's ed. is a big commitment in terms of time and cost, but well worth it.  Pacific Driver Education is one of the best companies providing this service.  Lois, and especially Pao, did an excellent job of engaging the teenagers and providing useful feedback to students and parents.  The last class is a DMV-approved driving test.  If the student passes, they only need to take the written test in order to get their license.  I have no doubt that my daughter is a more skilled and safer driver after taking this course.  Be warned, though, some of the driving laws have changed over the years and your teenager will enjoy pointing out everything you are doing wrong!  It's a small price to pay, however, for a safer driver. Went in there to take the driving test. Within two minutes the instructor screamed at me as i was pulling into the middle lane to let out a line of people behind me. I asked "am i not allowed to do that?" He said "No i just didnt know you were going to," I thought the test went alright despite being rush hour and raining. The yelling made me a little nervous but i thought i worked through it alright. He gave me 73 of 76 needed to pass. At the end of the day i feel cheated out of $50 with a mediocre instructor. I feel a different instructor probably would have made all the difference. Read Less

I highly recommend the driver's education course here. My older child did a different company, which wasn't a great experience. For my younger child, we switched to this company and I am so glad we did! Pacific Driver Education has been a wonderful experience for my son and therefore for me as a parent! They are professional, clear in their communications and expectations and friendly to work with. I have noticed that my son has taken driving more seriously since he has begun the class. He seems more mature about realizing what a responsibility it is to be solely in control of a vehicle that can cause harm if handled irresponsibly. Wow... So I'm 29, never got my license due to having no living family that I know of, I guess I'm a rare case. I've got my permit and have practiced allot before coming here, when coming I decided to go for the lesson and test after talking to them. I'm a father of three living in poverty so at first it sounded very steep on pricing, but I wanted to get my license and learn some good habits so we went for it. I came in swetty palms and completely nervous, the lady who was my teacher was extremely nice and firm on her teaching which I loved. She got my nerves on point and got some great habits implanted into my head by using the same tricks teachers used to help me learn to tie my shoes, I got an hour and half lesson and by the end I was super exited more then nervous! My instructor was super chipper and nice, his directions where never confusing and when he thought it might be he would further explain the directions. I'm extremely happy with my experience here and I wouldn't change any part of it at all, I passed and didn't pass with a 💯, but I still passed and was told what I did amazing and what to look out for in the future. As a driver on the road with these "instructors" I cannot say too many times to stay away from this "school". Following behind one of their marked SUVs I held back and gave them lots of space. Who knows? It could be the student's first time on the interstate. They took the long approach at 35 MPH, in this part of the highway, our entrance lane becomes the third lane of the interstate so I thought it would be easy for them to get to speed with no merging needed. As the car reached the fast moving freeway traffic, the SUV slowed from their high speed of about 40 and began blinking left. The vehicle then merged into the middle travel lane at a speed that left those behind them slamming on their brakes. I pulled alongside the teaching vehicle and could not get the attention of the woman in the passenger seat. She was so busy talking and gesturing that she never took stock of the outside world. Not the kind of driving I want others to learn. Not at all. I did try to leave the school feedback about their instructor privately, but they apparently don't know about or can't afford voicemail. I absolutely loved the adult driving class! It helped me not only to know how to drive, but it curved my anxiety as well. I took my driving test at Pacific Driver Education because the waiting time for a driving test at the DMV was much longer and I needed my license as soon as possible to drive to work. I practiced before the test with my husband as I already have a driver's license from another country.On the day of the test, my husband and I were still waiting outside at 13:00 for the door to be opened. Test appointment was at 13:00. After several minutes, Damon, who was my examiner, opened the door and apologized, the reason being that he was having lunch. The smell of the room and his breath which lingered throughout the test attested that fact. I finally did the road test where I failed miserably. Damon gave me questionable reasons for failing me. My confidence was shattered. The same day I called a driving school in Hillsboro and booked two 6-h lesson packages. This time I waited patiently and had my driving test at the DMV and got a 100% pass. It was far less stressful at the DMV.I would have saved money if I haven't gone there and also avoided this horrible experience. Read Less

I purchased the 4 lesson package and I couldn't be happier. Steve O was my instructor and he was great! Very friendly and professional, he was very knowledgeable and gave me the confidence to get behind the wheel (not an easy feat, as I'm 30 and thus far, been terrified of it). By the third lesson I already felt comfortable driving. I scheduled my Class C driver's test through them as well, which I had immediately after my last class. Matt was very good about giving me enough time to know when I had to do something, and at the end gave me some great advice. Oh yeah, I also passed! I took my son in for a driving test because the DMV was booked solid for about a month.  I was apprehensive because I was the one who taught him and, although I am a very good driver (if I do have to say so myself !), this is a driving school, after all, and I thought they might be extra hard on him and maybe engage in some up-selling of some lessons.  The person who administered the test was professional but friendly enough.  After the test, he took the time to explain the grading in terms that were clear but interestingly descriptive for my 17 year old to understand.  I won't say whether my son passed or not; that isn't really the point of my review.  What is most important, I think, is that he was treated fairly and, as a result of the  experience, walked out with a much clearer understanding of his strengths and weaknesses as a young driver.  I would highly recommend Pacific Driver Education for their welcoming but professional environment, their ability to accommodate those who speak languages other than English, and the skill, care, and ethical integrity they observe in the conduct of their business. I use yelp all the time to check out what other people think about various businesses, so I decided that I should finally contribute my own input. I am happy to recommend Pacific Driver Education in my first review. We weren't thrilled with the idea of paying someone to teach our son to do something it felt like he could learn from us, but it was money well spent. Our son  is an extremely reluctant driver. We had to "force" him to get his permit, and he would constantly refuse to drive. He recently graduated from high school and was about to turn 18, so we really needed to make a push to help him get his driver's license. I liked the idea of avoiding a stressful driving test at the DMV, which would possibly require a repeat visit. I knew he would do much better taking the test with someone he had developed a rapport with. His instructor, Pao, was awesome! He put my son at ease right away. It is hard for him to pay attention in classroom settings, so I was amazed by how much he learned in class. I was impressed with every interaction I had with the various staff members of Pacific Driver Education.  Even the required parent introduction night, which we were dreading, was actually quite informative and entertaining. The staff are amazing with the students.  This driver ed program is extremely thorough and as a parent of a new driver, I felt completely confident they would teach my daughter some mad driver skills that she would retain forever.  Josh uses lots of humor to keep the students engaged and at the parent orientation I went to, he had us laughing after awhile.  By completing this driver training program, my daughter will not have to do the driver test with DMV when she goes to get her license, because this is an ODOT program.  Highly recommend it.
