My Daughter enrolled in classes with Masters Driving School in November of 2014. She paid the class fee of $75.00. She completed the classes as scheduled. Early May 2015 her and her mother called to schedule the driving portion of the program. They were informed that the window had expired and she had to retake the class portion. My daughter went online and completed the classes. a check for $235 was sent, along with the certificates from the online class to Masters Driving School.
A couple weeks passed with no acknowledgement from Masters, so we called to schedule the driving portion. we talked with Terri in scheduling and was told that they did not have her check or the certificates required. We called the bank and the check had cleared PNC bank. We called Terri back and Terri was very short and rude. She said that they did not have the certificates and that the soonest they could get our daughter in was about 2 months out.
At this point, I called and spoke with the owner Barbara. Barbara indicated that they did not have the certificates and we need to come in and sign a contract. I explained that my daughter has summer ball and that to try to accommodate both her and Masters, would it be possible to schedule driving at one of the other 25 locations to get her in sooner. Without hesitation or even offer to consider, Barbara emphatically said that was not an option.
I called a couple other driving schools and they were both able to get us in mid-June. We scheduled with an instructor in Defiance. I called Masters to get a refund on the driving portion and left a message for Margie to call me back. I called Margie back and she looks for my daughters file. Margie gets back on the phone and said the reason she could not find her file and because we filed a complaint with the state and that in no uncertain terms were they going to issue a refund, that they had done nothing wrong. She also indicated at this point that they had found the certificates.
We did not sign a first contract and we did not go in and sign a contract after the first contract or agreement expired. I called Margie back today and told her we would like to stop by and pick up a copy of the contract along with the certificates. Margie said she did not believe that we signed one. I asked if she could check. After a brief hold, Barbara got on the phone and was very defensive. She said that since we filed a complaint with the state that would not be getting copies of anything, if we needed anything, contact the state. I told Barb that we need her certificates for the instructor, again I was told to contact the state. We have now had to order new certificates at a cost of $30.
