Mary was always so pleasant and helpful when I called! I always told everyone that I spoke to how I was impressed with her and appreciated her patience as we were going through this for the first time. My son did the online classes so we did not experience the in class instructors but his overall experience with the in car driving was wonderful. We will definitely use First Drive again. Read Less

Our experience with First Drive Driving School was exceptional. Due to my son’s busy schedule, we were concerned with getting to the classes. We were assured that he could complete each course day as it was offered even if it was out of sequential order. They teach the same material on each numbered day to make this possible for their busy students (Ex. Day 1 material is the same each time day 1 is offered). The in-car driving sessions were easily scheduled in one phone call. The in-car instructor was on time, kind and patient. We were put at ease knowing this school has a specific curriculum and driving route for each in car session allowing my son to experience specific driving situations such as Downtown and the highway with the comfort of a knowledgeable instructor by his side. when I arrived at my first incar I didn't know what to expect. I was new to driving and fairly clueless, but I did have some confidence. Although I didn't have many hours in before my first incar, no amount of hours would prepare me for what awaited me. I entered the driving school and after signing in was summoned to the car to drive, and there, what awaited me, I will never forget for my whole life. The first thing that came out of her mouth was "hi I'm Adele, but not the singer HAHAHAHA"I should've known better I tell myself now, I shouldn't have been so nieve, but the expirence i went through on that frigid day of summer, I will never forget.Adele told me that she usually makes people cry when they drive with her, she said that with pride, at first I thought to myself "please, they probably just couldn't handle it" but after those grueling two hours I lay prostrated on the ground in agony, questioning myself how id made it through that horrible experience. The whole 2 hours was plagued by a pattern of torture, Adele grabbing my steering wheel and veering me back and forth, her slamming on her brakes in the middle of the road constantly, and me escaping with major whiplash. The worst part was her yelling "STEP ON THE GAS, COVER THE BRAKES, STEP ON THE GAS, COVER THE BRAKES" and like I said earlier, I was a little clueless on my first incar, so I thought cover the brake meant to stop, i was so overwhelmed that I slammed on my brakes in the middle of the railroad tracks, Adele preceded to yell at me "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!! YOU CANT JUST STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD GO GO GO!" My foot slammed on the gas in a hurry and the car lurched forward. For 2 terrible hours I experienced nothing but adeles voice, screeching insults in my ear "WHY DONT YOU HAVE SUNGLASSES, NEXT TIME YOU DONT BRING SUNGLASSES I WILL REFUSE TO TAKE YOU DRIVING," "STOP JERKING YOURE ACTING LIKE AN INEXPIRIENCED DRIVER STOP JERKING" "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I did the online classes and the website they used for them was great. I could work on it at my own pace and was able to go back to past lessons to review them. My only complaint about them was when I ordered my first certificate I ordered the free option. The website's company lost it twice in the mail before offering to pay for overnight shipping. I had Patrick for 3/4 in cars and I recommend him for your first three. He was very patient and gave calm and orderly directions. He also made sure to give me 10 minutes of practice for maneuverability each time. He also gave me great tips for maneuverability. My last in car I had Adele. Although she threw me off, I recommend her for your last in car, not first. She is all over the place and though it does help you to learn how to multi-task, if it was my first or second in car I would've been too distracted. Adele was very respectful and gave great information while driving. She does brake and grab the steering wheel a couple of times but it wasn't too bad. Even though your fourth in car you don't need maneuverability, Adele made sure I had time to practice and master it. I heavily recommend this school. Read Less

Classes were fine and most drivers were fine, but one driver in particular is terrible and they just don't seem to care. My daughter had Adele for one of her 2 hour driving sessions about a year and a half ago when she was 16. My daughter had about 50 or more hours of practice so she knew how to drive. 1) Adele would frequently jerk the steering wheel why my daughter was driving instead of offering some sort of guidance, totally horrifying my daughter. 2) She had my daughter stop at a farmer market so she could jump out and pick up something she needed (during the 2 hours we paid for). 3) At one point in the drive she grabbed the wheel, veering off the road to avoid hitting a paper bag and yelled "If you would not step on it with our bare feet, don't run over it!" 4) My daughter pulled up to a stop sign, but sat waiting as just to the right of the sign there was a school bus, with its lights on letting kids off the bus. If my daughter turned she'd have been literally next to the bus. Adele screamed "Why aren't you going? Go!" So, my daughter turned at which point Adele then noticed the bus and said "On my that's a school bus, just hurry up and keep going!" Thankfully my daughter had her only once. She took the opportunity to share with her next driver Adele's behavior. We assumed that Adele would be let go or coached and that would be the end of it. But this past month I've been helping a friend of my daughter's get her temps and practice driving. She is 18. For having very little practice she is a very calm, thoughtful driver with good spacial awareness. She signed up for two in-car sessions with FirstDrive and was assigned Adele for her first lesson. She came home and was furious at what she experienced. 1) Adele again jerked the steering wheel frequently while this young lady was driving rather than any input on where she thought she need to be on the road. 2) Rather than suggesting the driver slow down at any point, Adele just hit the brake whenever she felt the need and without any warning. 3) And what makes me MADDER than anything, Adele was on her phone texting while she was in charge of a multi-ton vehicle with a brand new driver behind the wheel. 4) At the end of the driving lesson Adele looked over and told this young lady "Everything you did was sloppy. You 18 year olds all think you know how to drive." Thankfully this young lady also only had to suffer through one in-car experience with Adele too. Her second in-car was with the owner. I asked if she shared any information with the owner about Adele and she said that she did and that he did not seem to care. I can only speculate that maybe Adele is a relative and they feel they can't work with her to improve her teaching skills or cannot otherwise relieve her of her responsibilities. At any rate, I would not suggest you use this service for any in-car or at least make sure you are not in Adele's car. Read Less

HORRIBLE!!! Customer service. They messed up my daughters schedule and now we have to pay to get it rescheduled. Called and spoke with Mary and she had the worst attitude. Sounded bored by the job, never once mentioned her name, didn't even give the hint of (I apologize for the mistake let me see what I can do). Instead SHE INSISTED SHE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO DOES THE SCHEDULING!!!.. AND SHE'S WORK THERE FOR NUMEROUS YEARS...NEVER MAD A MISTAKE AND NOT GONNA START NOW. She was always on the defensive as soon as I had explained the situation and not once did I blamed her. Mary made sure it was not her mistake but yet I'm still dealing with an incorrect schedule and having to pay more money just to get it rescheduled. My daughter scheduled with the driver, the driver then gives the schedule for Mary to input the info into the system, it's between those two people is where the mishap began. I have the drivers name if anybody is interested. I'd rather give no stars but that wasn't possible.Read Less

Interacting with this business has been frustrating from the beginning. The Powell location is nothing more than a room in which they conduct classes and meet for the driving lessons. If you need to interact with anyone, it appears that they only have staff at the Hilliard location. Also be aware, that once you're ready to start the driving portion, that there can be a 2 - 3 week lead time to get an appointment. I would not recommend them (at least from a Powell perspective) unless you have no other options. It all appears to be very "part time" and unprofessional. Perhaps all driving schools are like that - I won't know until I have to do this again in a few years with my next child and find a different school. Also be aware that if you use the online portion of the coursework, OH apparently has a law that the student cannot complete more than 4 hours a day. The timer for 24 hours away is from the LOG OFF point which delays the speed at which the course can be completed. Read Less

Read Less

Amazing school! The teachers are excellent, above all, patient and very knowledgeable. The prices are very reasonable. Importantly, my instructor was not just trying to teach me the minimums, but thought me everything necessary for good driving habits in general, particularly with safety as a top priority. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who wants their kids or themselves be trained into good, responsible drivers. Read Less
