My instructor was Robert. He was very patient and courteous. He show me some simple ways on how to parallel park and 3 point turn. They really work, once the timing is good. The young lady scheduling is helpful, this is quickly over shadowed by the rude Owner/Manager, rude and lack of professionalism ,when called to complain about his instructor .Alex,the Instructor seems to have "road rage" and even cursed a few times to my son regarding other cars and drivers! Stay away from this place. Alex was my instructor and he was the worst. On the 6th lesson, I asked that we please only practice parallel parking and broken u turns. He said sure...then we drove for 20 minutes, did two parallel parks, one broken u, and then he asked me to drive around for another 20 minutes. He also got me into a near accident just to avoid a pothole. He's very protective of his hybrid car and will grab the wheel to swerve me into the next lane so as to avoid any potholes that he thinks may damage his car. I almost hit the guy to my left because of this!!! Save your money and ask a friend or family member instead. I will say this school is a must. I worked alongside Robert. He is a charming gentleman who loves his career in teaching others to drive. He was very direct, calm, very approachable, understanding, full of advice and most of all honest with you. When I first started working with him, I felt scared and unsure that I could do this. Sat for the 5 hour class here. It was alright, I think the guy that usually teaches it is on vacation though. Anyway, after the class I scheduled my first lesson for Tuesday at 6:00. That Tuesday, I never got a confirmation call prior to 6:00. By 6:30, I called the school and asked what happened. They said they'd call the instructor (who I didn't even find out who it was until that day) and call me back. Never got a call back. Never found out what happened to the instructor of the lesson. Scheduled my road test and an extra driving lesson with this company. Was told I had to sit the 5hr course before I could sit my test. Called on Monday to confirm the course was going ahead today, Wednesday, and was told it was starting at 4p, definitely going ahead. I take the night off work and lose a nights pay, get there at 3:50p to be told it was cancelled. Waste of my time and money. I have cancelled my roast test as I won't waste my money with them. When I asked why it was cancelled and why someone would confirm to me that it was still going ahead when clearly it wasn't, the girl in the office just shrugged her shoulders and said "I'm sorry". I contacted this driving school back in July when I decided to drive and was googling driving schools in Yonkers. Picked this one because the rates were online and they were affordable! The five hour class is great and straightforward, though it gets packed quick on the weekends so be sure to get there thirty minutes before. You watch some videos and whoever is teaching it (I got Kevin) goes over the DMV manual and some questions. He's funny!Fast-forward a couple of days later to the actual lessons. I had Kevin for 7/8 of my lessons and he's an incredibly nice guy. I was an extremely novice driver with no experience at all. He'll pick you up and you'll drive around your neighborhood. The mistakes are discussed at the end for you to work on and consider (if you have someone else to train you, as I had my dad). He is also a busy guy, since he manages the driving school as well. But I do recommend him. For one of my lessons when he couldn't make it, I had Alex. Another really helpful instructor. Both he and Kevin, and the other instructors really, all have new cars. 2 Months ago I did not know how to drive at all nor did I intend to have a license this quickly. I am a student who took driving lessons for 2 months with Karen and the 5 hour class with Kevin. Now I have a license and I am able to drive almost anywhere. I purchased the $500 driving package which included 9-10 lessons, 5 hour class and Drivers test. Karen worked with my schedule very well and was able to reschedule whenever something came up on my end. She picked me up promptly and dropped me off exactly at 45 minutes. Karen was quick to ask me when I want to take a test and I'm glad she did because everyone else is on a waiting list. Of course, when I wasn't riding with Karen, I would practice what she instructed me with my mother or boyfriend for the extra practice.Kevin's 5 hour class was funny and informational. He made sure the 5 hour class didn't feel like a 5 hour class. The space was small and there were many students, which might have been a fire hazard. I actually learned a lot in this class and he gave people the opportunity to ask questions which is great.So Recap: I would def recommend taking driving classes with Karen and would most likely recommend her if somebody asks me where to go. This is a safe place to learn how to drive! Alex did an outstanding job teaching my daughter Elisabeth, how to drive the right way. I could not have been more pleased with the service I got from Manhattans Driving School. The great part that I loved was that my daughter was learning how to drive in the new car, this gave me great assurance that my daughter was in good hands. I was a nervous wreck when i started and the driving instructor took advantage of that and would waste our 45 minute driving class on taking breaks and having flirtatious conversations. I took several classes at Manhattans Driving School and passed my road test last Friday! Alex is a great instructor! He is very patient and can really teach how to feel comfortable behind the wheel. I was very nervous to drive and afraid of the road test, but thanks to Alex's driving lessons I learned how drive very accurately avoiding dangerous situations on the road. Driving classes were well-organized, helped me to learn how to do parallel parking, 3-point turn, and drive safely eliminating any mistakes that could lead to failure in the road test. Two driving schools and so much money I spent else where learning how to drive, I then signed up with Manhattan Driving School because I really needed to get my license already. I knew it had to happen some day but It took way too long, I had Alex as my instructor and he was excellent. Alex kept it real with me and told me what I need to work on, which he tells at the end of each class. I got the 5 lesson package since I knew how to drive but need to brush up on my turns and ...parking. Alex is very professional, and honestly, I don't think you can get better deals like this anywhere. I had tried a few driving schools in the past and they were not so good. Never had the courage to take my road test because I wasn't ready. But I was still driving at times but I still needed to learn the rules and regulations of the road. I found this driving school through Google and Facebook, the reviews are great. The school is in Yonkers, the prices were affordable compare to other driving schools that charged more in Yonkers, My instructor was Kevin. He gave me bunch of useful tips and advise during my 10 classes with him. We drove in different parts in town, it's fun driving in heavy traffic on central park ave, which is actually a very good practice. I had a bad experience with another driving school in... Yonkers that just made me drive around in a circle. I got not during my lessons with them. I had more than 10 class with the other school and still failed the test about four times. I knew something was wrong thats why I am really glad I came here. This school is totally worth the money and helped me get the license. I had a very good experience with Manhattans Driving School and have to give a lot of credit to Alex for helping my daughter Crystal in passing her road test for the first time. Alex is very attentive to detail and patient, and also reinforces areas of learning that need the most development. Although driving may not be nuclear physics, it can sometimes be nerving to drive around in Yonkers, and Alex is definitely very good about teaching good street sense. Alex also give you... the time that you deserve, as opposed to other places that might shortchange you on time just because they can. The great part about going to this driving school was that they offered to pick my daughter up at no additional charge and lessons were priced to fit my budget. My daughter took about 5 hours worth of lessons which is probably the minimum that she needed if she needed more. STAY AWAY FROM KEVIN....HORRIBLE SERVICE. I wouldn t even give them a single star if I could manage it. I just needed a few lessons to brush up my skill and was stupid enough to purchase 10 driving sessions in advance. Kevin, my instructor, took full advantage of that and kept cancelling appointments on me. When he did manage to show up for the session, all he wanted to do was engage in stupid flirtatious chat while driving. He didn t teach much and kept stepping on the brake and putting his hand on the steering wheel instead of telling me what to do. If you are going for the five hour pre-licensing course, good. But BEWARE. They will offer to schedule a test for you but will *not* tell you there is a fee for it until days before the test. They will also schedule you for a warm-up session, which sounds nice, but if unneeded, they will cancel that and your road test. This made me feel they kept my road test time ransom. Granted, there was an offer to call and help set an appointment, unfortunately I never got that call. It was only when I returned a call of confirmation and asked that they stated a fee. Again: BEWARE. You will be roped into paying for a service you did not ask for if all you need is the five hour course! What's also of mention is that - unlike other stated reviews - they neither offered to pick me up nor asked if I had a car. When I first started driving I was a nervous driver who didn't have a proper technique on driving. I attempted to have my mother teach me but that didn't go over so well. It was more along the lines of "OMG! You are going to give me a second heart attack!!" I figured I needed some professional help but didn't know where to turn. My son's grandmother highly recommended Kevin and his school so I said why not.With Kevin's help, I was able to feel more comfortable behind the wheel. One of the best things about this school is their pricing and availability. Kevin is always available for lessons at pretty much all hours of the day/night. His car is small sedan that allows you to overcome any apprehension about driving. He picks you up wherever you live or work at the time you are available. You don't have to go crazy trying to meet up with him. He is extremely patient, professional and knowledgeable about the rules of the road test. He is very good at telling you how to correct your mistakes without making you feel like a complete idiot. One of the best things he teaches is how to get over the dreaded parallel parking. He gives you a three step no fail system which has literally worked for me regardless of the type of vehicle I was driving. He is very experienced and conducts lessons in Florida and New York. He is also available for your 5 hour class, road test and beyond. For your road test, he schedules it (when you're available) and picks you up for a refresher lesson prior to your appointment.I have learned how to drive on small residential streets, on congested highways and at night during various weather conditions. There are many schools who just take your money but you never truly learn the rules of the road or how to properly handle certain situations. With Kevin, it doesn't feel like he is doing this for the money or that you are just a number. The great thing is he starts you off at YOUR level of driving and you progress from there.
