I wish I could give 0 stars. I bought a Groupon for my dad (which was $100) for him to drive one of the cars. However, as a gift it was ridiculous because when we got there he needed to pay an extra $40 for insurance (because they refused to accept printed proof of ours through our car insurance company) and then the car my dad wanted to drive was an extra $10 PER LAP! Then, if you wanted to take any pictures that was EXTRA MONEY! I couldn't even take a picture of him in front of the car with my phone! I had no problem paying $100 for the driving experience but you shouldn't be robbing people of extra money when they get there. WHAT A SCAM! Read Less

Don't listen to the bad reviews. Staff was friendly, professional, warm and informative. They let you gun the throttle on their Cone track, however if you're looking for a track experience, you should go to a racetrack, which is way more expensive whether you bring your car or rent one. I selected the Somerset NY location off 287 which is smaller, as the Meadowlands Cone track is 4 times larger so longer straight away for more gear shifts and speed. Waits were long for the Lamborghini and Ferrari, so I selected the Nissan GT-R and went within 15 minutes of my arrival. Great car! Super fast! Read Less

I bought a voucher off of Groupon for this company for my boyfriend because they offered a specific car my boyfriend wanted to drive (911 turbo). Velocity sent an email to everyone participating in the event only 4 days in advance stating the info and the cars they had available, which was only 3 cars, and NOT the one my boyfriend liked. I went back on Velocity's website and looked at their list of cars again and what do you know... they were now only offering 4 total cars total compared to the previous 7-8 they offered when I purchased the Groupon! And the one he originally wanted was no longer listed! I emailed Velocity asking if i could cancel my reservation and they said no they can't cancel it within 7 days (when keep in mind they didn't send this info out until 4 days prior), refused to offer refunds, and said their list of cars change often. When I asked them, shouldn't they put it on their website that the cars offered changes often? In order to be fair to customers instead of them thinking they will get a cars that were previously advertised when they reserved their event date.... at that point the company stopped responding to me, obviously because they don't care if they rip someone off or not! Luckily I got my money back through Groupon!! Point is do not buy tickets from this company unless you don't care what car is offered to you, otherwise you will be ripped off!! Read Less

Don't waste your money!  Especially if you buy the Groupon this was by far a total waste of my money.  I purchased three groupons as gifts for my husband son and brother in law. since this wasn't my first time using velocity I was excited to bring my son.  Two days before the event I receive an e mail stating that if your insurance doesn't cover driving a car on an enclosed track event you will have to purchase additional insurance or can't drive.  What a scam this is so not wanting to loose my money we went where I questioned them as to when this rule changed since it wasn't required prior and how many people show up having that kind of insurance on their policy!  I was told about 3 out of 10 do funny cause I watched as at least 20 people were informed they had to pay the extra 40 dollars. again what a scam.  Then I get told if I don t purchase the phot package I'm not allowed to go with my family to the car to take any photos of my own I would have to stand behind the ropes and take pictures from afar. again what a rip off, then when I complained I was told I was rude my reply to them was well maybe you shouldn't try to rip people off and I wouldn't complain about something that you never did before I was always allowed to take pictures of them by the cars. Although my family enjoyed the ride In the cars I will never patronize this company again. There are many other companies that do the same events as them so I think I'll give them my money next time. Shame on you velocity driving for taking advantage of people. Read Less

To all those negative reviews - WOW.. they are not deceptive at all - the emails leading up to the event are VERY clear that you aren't getting license to drive 200+ MPH in an all out free-for-all. Track driving in a Lambo or any of these cars for your average driver would be insane. Now that's out of the way - on the the AWESOME. The entire experience was phenomenal. My wife bought me (30) and my dad (67 year old) the 7 lap with photo and shirt for Christmas. I've been so excited for this, and the event did not disappoint. We were on the last schedule of the day, 4pm, so it was pretty light when we got there. Signed in, paid for some add-ons, and we were off. I drove a Ferrari California, Dad drove a Lambo LP560. Yes, you stay in Second or automatic the whole time, but still see speeds of at least 90 MPH in a very short track. It's called controlled and safe fun. Would I love to go out on a track - Sure! But do you ever get to take your Ford or Kia up to 90 MPH (legally) and have some fun on a controlled track? No! My dad lived 67 years and never got to take a car like this out and have some fun. Well worth that alone. I even added on the LP560 and got photos and videos for both. Loved every minute. The laps were about 3 minutes long, but the experience is a lifetime of fun. You don't get to do this everyday unless your some sort of millionaire or rent luxury cars for fun. I would highly recommend the event to anyone looking for a really awesome time. The sounds and feeling of the cars is something you can't get elsewhere. We were very lucky that the weather was so great today too, so it was really an all around fun time. The owner was on-site and very friendly as was all the staff. They are professional from start to finish and ensure everyone has a great time on their tracks. Our track was the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, and would recommend to anyone! Remember - READ the fine print - no where did it say you'd be on a race track at unrestricted speeds. Has some sense when booking these kinds of events and know that they have to be done in a safe manner. Will be back again! Thanks for the stories I get to tell Monday! Read Less

This company couldn't be worse if they tried. The cars themselves are, of course, great. But the company is so evil and apathetic its intolerable. This isn't just a single bad experience, I can only assume that they are paying for reviews to get them as high as they are. Here is what will happen to you in this 'experience'. You will go to a dirty parking lot and will checkin and be sold a $40 insurance policy, which is fine, but then they will charge another $40 just to take a picture. They call it a 'picture package', The cars are behind a line about 100 feet away so you cannot possibly take a picture with your own camera or have a friend take one. Usually the wait time is 45 minutes to an hour but this time they decided to only bring down 2 cars (the least desirable ones) and it took over 2 hours! Since this is done in a parking lot there are no bathrooms and no water available. They do not tell you which cars they will bring and they sold the NSX so you will not get that one ever. We arrived at 2:40 and did not get to enter a car until 4:42. The driving experience takes about 1 minute and 5 seconds per lap so you are in the car for a very short period of time. Since the track is so small you can only go about 45mph except on 1 straight part of the track where you can get it up to 55, for about 1 and a half seconds. The instructor is in the passenger seat telling you what to do the whole time, when to slow down, turn and when to shift. You get no say in anything, its like not being able to drive the car at all. By the afternoon, due to the dustiness of the track the cars will be really dusty and the staff doesn't not wipe them down so even if you purchase an over priced picture the car in it will be dirty. I can only say this whole thing was disappointing from beginning to end. They sell these packages online specifically because if you had to drive to this place, see this dirty, tiny track and were told the actual wait times, and disappointing news that you cannot speed or have any real control over when you shift, no one would ever buy this. Horrible experience. I did not even get to drive.  Showed up ontime, 15 minutes before my scheduled driving time, paid $40 for the insurance, and then was told it would be approximately 2 hours until I was up. Not great, but I was in a good mood, so I waited, and in 2 hours, I checked back in and they said it would be another 45 minutes to an hour.  So my 2pm driving experience was now going to be 5pm, at best.  3 hours late.  I could not wait any longer, I had other things to do, so I asked the staff, maybe the owner, if I could get my money back.  They said no, that since we got it on groupon, we were out of luck.  Honestly I would've settled on 50 cents of the dollar, even though I had  just wasted half of a weekend day waiting for nothing.  No, nothing, no offer besides "come back tomorrow", which I couldn't do.  I'm glad I actually got the $40 back for insurance.  My advice......I can't comment because I never got to drive, but be prepared to wait forever or lose the money you pay.  Or better yet find something else to spend a couple hundred bucks on.  No consideration whatsoever for customers. Sorry to say my experience was not good. My family purchase 7 laps which was advertised as “Supercar Driving Experiences - For as little as the cost of a pair of jeans, you can experience everything these cars have to offer on our custom-designed autocross” well they leave out the part of telling you their autocross is held at a very poor location and mandates you to slow down under 5 mph for a ¼ of the track due to poor conditions. The insurance you will have to purchase at $40 per day only covers you up to $10,000 with no deductible. So you better slow down! I also asked for a copy of the insurance policy via email and no one responded. I’ve asked for a refund and they refused as of now! I was told by Mike via phone from the company if I really wanted an autocross experience I would have to pay $5000 a day at another one of their events. Driving around less than 5 mph you can do at the dealer which is free! My complaint to them is, they should give people an option of a refund or rescheduling and tell people we are at a very poor location so you will not get the experience of what we advertise on our website. Their response I received was; “Hello John, thank you for your feedback. A refund would not be possible, but we will consider your suggestions for future events. Thank you.” Which tells me they know they are wrong? Read Less

Not recommended! What a ripoff / scam! My girlfriend bought me 4-laps with Velocity Driving at the Richmond International Raceway as a birthday gift. I was really excited until I actually made it to the track. FYI, you don't actually drive on the track. You drive on a cone course in the parking lot of the Richmond International Raceway. It's extremely deceptive to advertise the experience as being at the track when all the driving takes place in the parking lot. Honestly, this event could take place at any parking lot but they advertise it in such away that you think it's taking place on an actual track. They even show pictures of actual race tracks and road courses on their website and denote driving the cars on a "private track". Based on the other reviews it appears this is a common tactic for Velocity Driving. Once you arrive you go to a little trailer to sign in and then they try to scam you into buying insurance coverage which cost an additional $40. While they mention this coverage on their website they don't post the pricing. They have a large cone on display along with broken pieces of bumper plastic with the warning that you will be responsible for any and all damages. It was a fairly cold day so they really tried to sell the fact that the cold weather would make it easier for the bumper plastic to break from the cones. In actuality the cones are all of three inches tall and it probably wouldn't scratch the car if you ran over a continuous line of them at 100+ miles per hour. It's frustrating to think of all the people they scammed with this scare tactic. On to the driving experience. The entire course was maybe 1/10th of a mile long, maybe, and you never got out of second gear due to the short length of the one and only straight. Even with super car acceleration I would be amazed if I cracked 85mph on the straight. My girlfriend recorded all four of my laps and it took a grand total of 1 minute and 48 seconds start to finish. 1 minute and 48 seconds! The cost for all this excitement...... $200 dollars. Thank god my girlfriend got a groupon and only paid $89 but even at that price it was a complete rip off. My girlfriend felt terrible that it was such a let down and I truly feel bad for anyone who actually paid full price. Overall the entire experience was a complete and utter disappointment. I would never, ever, do it again nor would I recommend it to anyone. I reached higher speeds on the interstate on my way to this so called "driving experience". Unless your goal is the ability to say that you drove a "911" or a "lambo" find another way to spend your hard earned money. Even then I still couldn't recommend it. Get a part time job as a valet or go to a car show and the experience would be better. In closing, I truly cannot express just how crappy the whole experience was. If you are thinking about doing this driving experience just don't. A can assure you that nothing but disappointment lies ahead. Read Less

Worst Customer Service EVER!Do not sign up for this and waste your money. I bought my boyfriend the velocity driving experience for his birthday.  I paid full price and scheduled his appointment for 12pm in November.  I paid for this in AUGUST!  When we got to the event, the staff were rude and told him they could not guarantee when he would get to ride the car.  They said it could be up to 2-3 hours wait in the rain. We left as we had other things we needed to do and would come back.  I called to try to change the date and they were not helpful at all stating they would not let him come on another date.  They said "Why are you complaining, you are the only one complaining."  I couldn't believe the poor customer service. They would not help us at all and let other people who paid that day go before us in line even though I had a scheduled appointment.  The car choices are poor.  They only had four cars and one was a NIssan.  Who wants to spend $150 to drive a NIssan?!  They were rude and the course is a joke.Don't waste your money!!!!
