Took a packaged lesson, and passed with flying colors on the first try!Before taking these lessons, and being a native NYer, I've had 0 driving experience being in front of the wheel - aside from bumper cars, and posing inside Bentley's and Ferrari's to make friends jealous of a car I didn't own (but hey, how many of you have sat inside a Bentley? I rest my case.)The instructor, Carlos, is patient and knowledgable, with plenty of techniques to teach. He'll teach you his ABC's of driving, and make sure that you don't forget to flick your turn signal when turning...or look behind you while backing up...or fix and check the mirrors before driving, you know where i'm getting at. Now i'm not saying these happened to me, but if it did, he would've reminded me with his ABC's. He'll help you work on your weaknesses, so you can be a better driver, pass your road test, and be the proud designated driver on your weekend shenanigans that you were meant to be (PSA: Don't Drink and Drive.)The car...well yes, it's old - but old is experienced; a veteran of these city lights. Yea, it's not the latest model, but it runs damn fine compared to...ok I have nothing to compare it to, but it runs well. It's also a testament to how well he takes care of his car. You'll have time to play with your fancy digital dashboard when you sign for your own car, but the fact that it's a simple car makes you focus on the important things. The car's pedals are just the right amount of sensitive, you feel it purr when you step on the gas, and feel it resist when you step on the brakes; he'll also remind you to be gentle, so as not to give you and your passengers neck problems.All-in-all, I had a pleasant experience with Carlos and Hawaii Driving School - I can't recommend him, and the school, enough.
