Great driving school. Went there for 5 hour class and immediately after signed up for a road test package which includes lessons, road test appt, and use of their car for test. William was my instructor and I feel I was very lucky to have him. He’s a terrific guy and makes you feel very comfortable behind the wheel. He pinpoints your weaknesses and help you improve in those areas. Gave me confidence to pass road test which I managed to do on first attempt. Can’t recommend Grand Prix and William enough. I rarely post reviews. I only do so when something is either fantastic or truly awful. This case in the latter. I have worked with half a dozen driving schools and none are as inefficient, rude and poorly run as Grand Prix. During my first session, I had a family emergency and tried to cancel my lesson-admittedly I was within the 24 hour cancellation window, but the customer service rep, Patrick, was not only unwilling to be flexible and help out, he was also rude and seems to lack even an inkling of human empathy/understand of what makes customers want to return. Nevertheless i had a good lesson and decided to give them the benefit of doubt as my instructor was solid. I requested another lesson with the same instructor for a few weeks later. Of course, I was greeted with an entirely new instructor and had to start my lesson from scratch. When I called the company to express my disappointment with the service, once again Patrick and his blazing lack of business savvy ruined the experience by acting like an unsympathetic and unprofessional representative. I highly recommend Grand Prix Driving School. I joyfully passed my test on Thursday, in Yonkers. I never would have passed if it the instructor, Mr. Barcena had not been so knowledgeable, kind and patient. Having a great sense of humor and knowing when to use it effectively comes from years of experience which Mr. Barcena has. I had my license for decades but I neglected to renew my license because I had not received the renewal form in the mail and my inability to use my brain and check the Year of expiration really altered my self confidence. I felt like such a dunce. It seems funny now but I was so distraught and demented it physically hurt. I am so, so thankful to Mr. Barcena for getting me through this. William is literally the greatest human driving instructor that could ever potentially exist. Brilliant mind. He breaks things down. He is logical. He keeps things simple, while at the same time letting you know everything that you need to know in order to the pass the test. Amazing guy in general as well. I SPOKE TO THE SECRETARY ON THE PHONE AND SHE QUOTED THEE MOST EXPENSIVE PRICE YOU CAN ACTUALLY PAY FOR TAKING THE COURSE$60....THEN TOLD ME I COULD PAY $110 TO GET MY ROAD TEST POSITION MOVED TO AN EARLIER POSITION..THE VIBE WAS ALREADY SEADY, BUT FIGURED ONE PLACE WAS AS GOOD AS ANY OTHER..#WRONG...THE SECRETARY GAVE ME INSTRUCTIONS TO GET THERE"BETWEEN 63RD AND 62ND AND LEXINGTON".. BUT NEVER GAVE ME THE ACTUAL ADDRESS...SO IM EXPECTING TO SEE A BIG SIGN..#NOPE... IT WAS A 12 X 12 SIGN NEXT TWO A DOOR LEADING TO A 2ND FLOOR SUITE WHICH WAS MORE LIKE A MATCH BOX.. You should avoid coming here. They charge the Highest prices and then they either make it difficult to schedule or don't show up. Whatever you do Never buy a package consisting of 90 minute lessons. They will end the lesson at 60 minutes and roll their eyes when you tell them you purchased 90 minute lessons. After Tommy (Who Screams while "teaching") didn't show up for a lesson without even calling I scheduled a lesson for Saturday morning with Augusto and was in front of my building for an hour waiting for him when he called to say he was in front of my building the entire time waiting for me! I kid you not. My neighbor who was outside the building chatting with me the entire time (doing their laundry next door) while I was waiting for Augusto found it amusing. I did not. When Augusto finally showed up and lied to my face about being there after I waited an hour I was furious. When I pointed out to Augusto that my neighbor standing right there has been here with me the entire time and asked him "Why can't you just act like a man and admit your mistake?" Augusto flips out, stomps his feet and runs back to the car screaming "I'm not working with you!" I just said " Yeah that's right run away like a child rather than man up to your mistake. I'm supposed to lose more lesson time that I'm paying for over your immature Bullshit? I don't think so pal."I immediately contacted my credit card company and had the balance of my money returned to my card. I paid for the 5 hour class and for the 60 minute lessons I Actually had, NOT the 90 minute lessons they cheated me out of. It's obvious you should never pay by cash. It should also be obvious that you should go elsewhere. I Highly recommend Golden Key Driving school. Sure its in upper Manhattan but it's worth the trip and the comfortable BXM1 Express bus stops right in front. First of all you'll learn to drive in Very similar road conditions to the nearby road test. This is something practicing downtown does NOT prepare you for and you'll get the best instruction at a Fraction of the price. Ask for Israel. He gets you ready to pass on your 1st attempt. You'll learn more from him in One lesson than you ever will here and you won't have to deal with nonsense. Believe me. Read Less

Bad experience with instructors. I've had two different ones: the first, in addition to his language barrier (Spanish speaking with limited English), just didn't quite know how to drive himself (for example, he said that I couldn't go into the bus lane to make a turn), the second shouted at me because he could't find the building number that I indicated as a pick-up point. The office people were not particularly helpful or accommodating either. All in all, the other driving school I went to was much better. Read Less

The people at the school were not organized, and often called me several times to ask me the same question. HOWEVER, my driving instructor, Alberto, made up for that AND some. He was the best. He could not have been nicer or more helpful. He was incredibly thorough, and he was very attentive to my specific needs as a driving student. Above all else, he was sincerely encouraging, and really instilled in me the confidence to believe in myself and, ultimately, pass on my first test.
