Citi driving school has great instructors, the packages they offer are really reasonably price too. I did a 5 hours pre-licensing course and took 5 hrs driving lessons package. I had Robert as my instructor at first, he was a fantastic instructor giving me very clear directions on what to look for to pass the driving test. But he had a stroke and we had to change to a new instructor, Bill. Bill is awesome! He just helped me to pass my driving test today. Just passed my road test today! I must say I had an awesome learning experience here! I was a total beginner (I grew up in Hong Kong, another crazy hectic city, and of course, driving was not required), and I had less than a month of time to learn how to drive before my road test.  My teacher Robert helped me preparing for the road test. He is truly an amazing driving instructor: he gives extremely specific instructions, notes and tips to prepare you for the road, not to mention he has 20 years experience in teaching driving. I needed a lesson in driving manual for an upcoming trip and Citi was very accommodating, despite the short notice (I had my lesson 2 days after first contact). The lesson was with Alberto, who was very knowledgeable & patient; at the end of my 1.5hr lesson, I felt much more comfortable & confident in driving stick and at no point did I feel stressed or rushed. Never thought I would write a "woohoo! As good as it gets" for a driving school because ultimately it's a chore. I let  my license expire years ago when I was immature in college and thought "eh I'm a New Yorker now I don't need it." So unfortunately I have been going through the entire process again now that I'm an adult. The thought of sitting 5 hours in a class sounded draining, but the instructor Tony didn't make it feel that way. When he spoke it was helpful information that I knew would help me pass my road test (I mean that's why we are there) and then he left us with a few videos I'm assuming the state wanted us to watch. Luckily we didn't have to watch the vidoes that we did back in 1998 that showed people actually dying from drinking and driving, I guess times have changed and those were too traumatizing. These videos were helpful, and the chairs were extremely comfortable for the long haul. Tony understood that we all wanted to get out of there as fast as possible and we voted on going straight through without our lunch break and got out much earlier than I expected. Citi Driving School is a great and very professional company. I came just to take my 5 hour course, but they do a lot, lot more for a very reasonable price. My 5 hour course instructor, Tony, was really nice, passionate and cool. He taught us a lot about the whole process and gave us a lot of insider tips such as the stricter of the test, how it's graded and how to pass it. If you need a driver's license then book  Citi Driving School. So impressed with the service. The 5 hr class was very instructional, really told us everything we needed to know and more. What to expect during the driving test and a very friendly open environment. They handled everything for me, the booking, the car and driver for the test. Easy and worry free. Follow and service was excellent, a very professionally run company. I had a license in Australia, but thought it would be good idea to book a driving session on the day of the test.  Good choice. Robert, the driving instructor gave me a 90 minute driving test, and took me through 'everything' for the test. Without this, I am pretty sure I wound not have passed. But I did!!! I had a great experience! I unfortunately let my license expire and had to do everything again (FL to NY, or in other words, FML) so I did the 5hour course, expedited road test scheduling (I failed the first test oops,) and then just wanted to get it done and did the full road test package.Seriously - if you are in my situation, SPEND THE MONEY on the road test package with the lesson, it is worth every penny. You 1) will not have to deal with the scheduling website, 2) have a great instructor that tells you what you need to do to pass the yet, 3) have a car that is comfortable for you and the person administering your road test, 4) get it done in one day.There are way too many picky rules in the road test that we break in normal driving, so you will rack up points for minor infractions if you are not aware. Turned up at 9am the morning for my road test to be told that the car was suffering technical problems and was sent home, with no other car available for my 11am road test. 5 hour class was reasonably good, comfortable. This was our second experience with a driving school. CITI was superior in every way. The customer service is outstanding, the expertise top level, the accuracy of information perfect. The instructor Greg was extremely calming and helpful. Greg took my son through all of the important aspects of the driving test and he was very helpful to make sure that he received his license that day.  CITI is the best and Greg was the best of the best. I'm a New Yorker who got his license when I was 18 and never used  it.  Now at 33 and a looming move to suburbia I needed to learn to drive. I took got a total of 10 hours of driving instruction. My lessons were with Greg who was laid back and got me comfortable with driving in the city quickly. You do need to schedule ahead and in fairness I was pretty flexible on lesson times so if your mileage might vary. I would definitely recommend. Read Less

I strongly discourage anyone from buying a package or taking any lessons from this driving school. I have encountered fewer businesses that have offered a worse customer experience than this one. My driver Greg came fifteen minutes late, which I normally don't consider to be a big  offense. But when I got into the car, he offered no apology or any explanation at all. After waiting a couple minutes for an apology or at very minimum a genuine explanation, I asked him if will apologize.He replied "if you really want one, I am sorry, but I don't think you deserve one because it isn't a big deal." I told him I agree it isn't a big deal but it is good customer service to at least offer one. He then replied "By the way I don't appreciate you confronting me about this and I don't like your tone of voice."  I ask him if he always talks to his customers like this, he replies "no only the ones who giving me a fucking attitude." At that point I stop the car and  tell him the way he is talking to me is extremely unprofessional. He is literally yelling at me as he replies "I don't fucking care, I don't need your business, we have the whole Upper West Side as customers, you are replaceable." At this point I demand to be driven home and he replies "You know this is my vehicle I can just make you walk( mind you it was less than 20 degrees outside and I had no jacket on me)." I tell him I am not going anywhere unless he drives me back. After a silent minute of sitting in the car, he finally agrees to drive me back home. But even during the drive back, the very strong sense of animosity coming from the instructor was extremely unpleasant and very apparent. If you are learning how to drive and don't want instructors like Greg who curse, yell, threaten to make you walk home in the cold and have zero sense of professionalism then I strongly discourage you from signing up for Citi Driving School.Edit: The only thing positive about this whole thing was that the manager issued a quick refund for the package I purchased. For the 4 th lesson they never sent a driver, because they forgot about it, I left the driver and their office a voicemail in the morning when the lesson was supposed to happen, they got back to me around lunch time. I took a 5 hours "nervous driver" package classes and it was well worth it! My instructor Craig was very graceful, patient, funny, knowledgeable. We drove around the city, on the highways, practice parking. He offered great suggestions. I cancel once and they rescheduled once but we worked out our schedules (with no penalty) Overall it worked out great! Pricing is competitive for the neighborhood and yes I highly recommend them. this place is the worst. They never have any availability, are disorganized, and are not helpful. Do not go here. It is a waste of time and money. Because I could not schedule anything but one driving lessons before my test, I actually had to go to another driving school and pay extra money.  Also, even though I said time was an issue, they scheduled me for a late test date. I actually cancelled it and had better luck on my own scheduling an earlier date. When I let them know I was dissatisfied with the date of the test, the employee on the phone said, "uhhh, ok." Went for the 5-hour-course. I didn't learn anything about driving and traffic, but that's probably not their fault. Being a product of an notoriously dysfunctional, inefficient and obsolete entity like the DMV, the course couldn't be anything but a hypocritical waste of time and money. On the other hand, the instructor gave us what sounded like a realistic picture of what to expect during the road test. Some of the tips he gave were not obvious and are probably going to be useful for passing the test. I wish it had lasted less. We could have been done in 15 min. Read Less

I have taken two stick shift lessons with Citi driving school. My first lesson was with the substitute teacher who was just OK in my opinion. However, Gus the regular instructor, was so awesome! He was very encouraging and patient with me. After my first lesson I had a strong hate for first gear. By the end of my second lesson with Gus, first gear was a breeze and I was driving on the highway and going up steep hills! If you need to take stick shift lessons, definitely ask for Gus! Read Less

I had a great experience with Citi Driving.  I had little to no driving experience prior to taking my lessons with Citi. 20 lessons later, I am officially a licensed driver!Ask for Greg as your instructor.  He is calm, patient, and easy-going. He helped boost my confidence and kept me calm as I learned to drive on some of the craziest streets in NYC.The front office is also easy to work with, and was pretty accommodating when I had special requests or needed to squeeze a lesson in within a few days.If you need to learn to drive in NYC, Citi Driving is the way to go. I was searching for a driving school that was going to be helpful and get me back on the road. I came across citi driving school which a colleague of mine recommended. I looked them up and was impressed with their reviews. I had my drivers license before in Florida a few years back but i let it expire. So here I am now trying to get back on the road in one of the craziest cities. The staff at the office that booked all my lessons and scheduled my road test were Kim and Nichole. They were very understanding with my busy schedule. I had Tyrone as my instructor. He is very straight forward and taught me everything I needed to know about driving here in the city. I gained my confidence sooner then i planned and went for my test and PASSED! I could only thank Citi driving school. I highly recommend this driving school to anyone trying to get their license. The office staff was very nice, but now experienced enough. After I took the 15 hour lessons and was at the road test in December, the inspector told me my permit was not valid since I had the lasik surgery. I couldn't take the test before this restriction was removed. I ended up going back home. I was extremely frustrated that day. I just wasted $900 for nothing. The staff at Citidriving should have spotted this problem right away. They scheduled me for 1/12 and I ended up buying another package for $245. There was a storm on 1/12, but the road was clear in the afternoon and road test was on, but my instructor Tyrone refused to take me there. He said he was off work that day. I took 2 more lessons with him. He likes to cut off time like 5-10 minutes each lesson. My road test was scheduled for today, 2/7 at 11 AM. He was supposed to show up at 9 AM to give me a lesson first. I waited outside for 10 minutes. He was no show. I went home and found he text me back saying ""I am in PA, running late. Will call you when I am there."" WTF!!! He didn't even have the curtersey to call me to let me know he is 1 1/2 hour late. What kind of crap is this? Of course I ended up failing the test. I felt I was being treated like an idiot. They played me really well. AGAIN PLEASE BE AWARE THIS SCHOOL AND DO NOT USE THIS INSTRUCTOR! Read Less

Having learned to drive in England and needing my driver's license due to a move to the suburbs, and not driven in the states since I moved here 9 years ago I was nervous about getting back behind the wheel of a car! I took the 5 hour course at Citi Driving and began to relax a little. I signed up for 5 hours of driving lessons and an expedited test date. Citi driving took care of it all professionally and very efficiently. Luke my driving instructor transformed me from a rusty out of practice driver to a once again confident and adept driver who passed their road test on first attempt. He was responsive to what I needed to learn and brush up on, never lost his patience with me even after a 1000 takes of a parallel park, and constantly mixing up my left from my right! A first-time driver at age 40, I was on a tight schedule to learn before moving out of state. The office set me up quickly with an intensive schedule of lessons. Luke is a one-in-a-million teacher, a good communicator, patient, expert, and fun to work with, too. He really knows his stuff, and taught in a way that made everything clear and not at all intimidating. Hi everyone. I am very happy to say that my money was well spent here. Specially because my instructor Luke was better than ever. My strengths are anything but driving. Luke helped me overcome my fear of driving and gave me tips and pointers on what I should look out for when I'm on the road. My lessons were always right after work and although I was tired of the long day, my lessons served as relaxation because the lessons were smooth and very helpful. Luke knew exactly how to control the car although he wasn't on the drivers seat, not many people can do that and it is an excellent skill to have in his profession. I am a teenage student driver for 2 years but procrastinated in taking my 5 hour pre-licensing course. Citi Driving school motivated me to go for my license. After taking the 5 hour class, I got my early roadtest appointment in 2 weeks. My instructor taught and reviewed with me some specific road test manuevers and hoola, I am officially a NYS licensed driver.
