Not responsive to texts, emails, and voicemails. Still waiting for my money back which he promised. I am disputing the charge as fraud with my bank. I am really confused about the other ratings - save your money and go elsewhere. I paid $500 on September 1st for a 5-lesson package for my son, which also included a 5 hour class and driving test. Attila was completely unresponsive to our numerous attempts at scheduling lessons, and also cancelled the class 3 times after scheduling it with my son. In 3 months, we only managed to schedule 2 lessons, and most efforts to reach Attila by me and my son were completely ignored. I finally demanded my money back today, after texts were ignored for the umteenth time, and he hasn't even responded to this. I'm normally a very easygoing and forgiving person, but this was simply the most frustrating experience I have ever had with a company. I only had the 5hr class. It was not as long as I thought it would be, Tyrone kept us engaged for the entire 5hrs. We watched the mandated videos as well as him giving us additional information to aid us in what is expected in the actual road test. Not painful @ all. Would recommend!! I also appreciated the fact that I was fit in @ the last minute when someone cancelled. I didn't think the young lady would remember to call me, but she did & saved me significant wait time!!! After years of paying schools and begging friends and lovers to help me learn, I knew I needed a stronger prescription.  I discovered Attila's reputation from an article in the New York Times.  He worked with the anxious, the nervous and the older wannabe drivers, like me.I expected a big personality.  What I got was a kind, pleasant instructor who was clear, firm and encouraging.It took me quite some time to commit to learning, but Attila was patient every step of the way.  He was responsive, communicative and setting up lessons was easy. I will not be driving with them again and I recommend you stear clear. While the driver was very helpful, he ended my ride 10 minutes early and let's say this, the car or driver smelled of something.. not legal. I prayed I wouldn't get pulled over, because they surely would have pulled us out and searched the car. My wife had luck with them, but I did not. I had to start over with driving as an adult after totally forgetting to renew my license years ago, which happens a lot in New York City where we don't often have occasion to drive. I was super intimidated by the idea of getting behind the wheel again and that's where Attila School of Driving came in.  I had an incredible instructor - Howard, you MUST book with him - I took the five hour class and did a package of 5 lessons that I spread out over about a month and a half, and I wound up passing my test. Excellent experience! Atilla is a one-stop-shop. Once you have passed the initial written test at the DMV and received your learner's permit, get one of the package deals they offer which includes the 5-hour class certification, 5 one-hour driving lessons, car to the test and the road test appointment itself. I had Howard who was absolutely amazing. Having moved from Australia 6 years ago, I hadn't driven since arriving in Manhattan - and having never driven on the other side of the road or car I knew I was going to need someone to help put me at ease! Howard was fantastic and calmed my nerves the second I got in the car. There was a massive snow storm the day of our first lesson and I tried to get out of doing it in favor of starting on a clear day but Howard convinced me that it would be particularly good practice since you have to get used to driving in all sorts of conditions. I'm really glad I took his advice and went through that experience, definitely gave me a huge confidence boost and prepared me to drive even in bad conditions. Attila was and is an amazing driving instructor for me. I just got my license and I am very grateful to Attila for helping me get to this point in my development as an adult. As Attila's student I think that I have learned how to be an observant and careful driver. He taught me the importance of muscle memory when driving. Most importantly Attila helped me learn how to both anticipate and avoid obstacles. He is a patient and thoughtful teacher and I enjoyed the conversations that I had with him as well as the experience of learning how to drive from him. I got my license years ago in college when I was living in Ohio. It was pretty easy out there...large wide roads, nicer other drivers, etc. Once I moved back to New York, I stopped driving because it didn't seem to be important. More recently, I started feeling like I should know how to drive. It's definitely an important skill and comes in handy when traveling. I wanted to approach driving again safely, so I figured I should take review lessons. My mother tried taking me out herself, but it was too stressful for her so she decided to send me to Attila. Arturo was a great instructor. He was so relaxed and calm that it rubbed off on me in no time. I started feeling less stressed on the road and sharpened my skills. His lessons about "being the noodle" really came in handy. Check out the new yorker article on him, it sums him up perfectly. After 3 lessons, I feel ready to start driving again. This school is perfect. It's a one-stop shop - five hour class, road test, lessons, they supplied me with a car and instructor to take me to the test and the lesson before ensured I'd pass easily. They take care of everything for you. Their pricing is very reasonable including packages for whatever you need. The admin is great, she knows exactly what she's doing, and my instructor, Ibu, is fantastic. He's an expert teacher and extremely nice and patient. I highly recommend this school for first time drivers. I took the five hour prelicensing course with Arturo and it was a great experience.  Normally in those classes, they have old videos, but he was able to explain all the rules of the road with newer videos in an entertaining way. I then signed up for driving lessons with Damir. He was a great instructor and if you listen to his advice, you will pass the road test. His parallel parking trick makes parking so easy to do. He was able to put me at ease and with 11 driving lessons, I was able to pass my first time. This isn't the cheapest driving school you'll find, but it is a high quality one. Great experience! I had to schedule a last minute road test because my certificate was about to expire and they were the only ones that could accommodate me. Ibo picked me up from the city and he drove me and another girl to the road test site. On our way he gave clear instructions and very helpful advice on how to pass the test. I had a drivers license from a foreign country before and knew how to drive so I didn't need any additional lessons. However, I was very nervous... Ibo calmed me down by explaining everything in detail and watching YouTube videos during the wait. Overall I think he is very passionate about his job and he really wants you to pass. No matter if you are a beginner or an experienced driver, I think you will be in good hands here. Read Less

Terrible, terrible, terrible customer service!  I was there for the 5 hour certification course and decided to sign up for one of their packages not realizing that included a rental car for ($155) and a reservation fee for the road test ($45).  I have my own car and I was planning to schedule myself the test (it doesn't cost ANYTHING to schedule the road test online but they charge $45 for their receptionist to do it on your behalf).  They were hesitant to give me a refund first.  Then they told me that it was only the owner authorized to do it so the receptionist texted him my credit card info (!!).  3 days later I still haven't seen the refund processed....They have my cc details in a text and they are asking to keep 10% of the total (cancellation fee).I've been speaking and playing phone tag with 2 receptionist who cannot tell me when I can get my money back (a total of $265).I'm planning to go to the school in person and dispute everything through my bank as fraud if I don't see my refund processed by today.I was planning to take a few individual lessons through them before my road test but obviously they have lost a customer in the end.  I will definitely go somewhere else and to all my friends that are getting their driver's license I'll make sure they know about this place. Attila's School of Driving is by far the best option there is in New York if you are learning how to drive for the first time or just need a refresher. For me, I was learning how to drive for the first time...and I was INCREDIBLY anxious about the prospect of doing so. From the first time I met Attila, I was impressed with his approach to teaching a nervous driver--he is patient, kind and funny and all the while entirely focused on teaching proper safe driving skills. I started my lessons in early January and despite this winter being a very snowy one (which led me to cancel several classes given the dangerous road conditions), I was able to successfully pass my road test on March 7th! I give all the credit for my passing to Attila--if anyone had seen just how nervous I was getting behind the wheel in January, they never would have believed I would be able to pass the test two months later (and remember that was two months filled with ridiculous amounts of snow!). To add to the great experience I had with Attila, his school is one of the very few (if not only!) school that picks you up at your home (or whatever location you decide) for your lessons--what could be better? Each lesson ends at your starting point so no trekking to get to some difficult location just to take a lesson. I really can't say enough good things about Attila's school--I had done thorough research in selecting a school and since I wanted to select one based in Manhattan, there were only a few other options. After reading all the reviews I could find and making a few calls, my choice was clear--as soon as I talked to Attila and explained my situation, he put me at ease given his experience working with nervous/anxious drivers. I am so thrilled I chose to go with this school--there were no language barriers as with some of the other schools in Manhattan, the car I used was in excellent condition (another common complaint at some of the schools) and I actually enjoyed my lessons! I admit that I first looked into Attila's driving school because I loved his name. I mean, who is going to mess with you when your instructor is named Attila?My daughter, being a traditional city kid, didn't bother to get her license as a teenager. When she was ready to learn, she took Attila's 5-hour class. He and his assistant, Damaris, are so organized and professional that she felt totally confident in continuing with him.Attila is a friendly guy and an excellent teacher. He explains things in a systematic way that immediately made sense to her. He sounds like a classic "defensive driving" kind of instructor, constantly pointing out the stupid things that pedestrians/cyclists/other drivers are doing, so that you'll get in the habit of anticipating the craziness that comes from city driving.Anyway, today my daughter took her road test and passed on the first try. She's planning on continuing with a few more lessons to fine-tune her skills. And after enduring my hit-or-miss style of parallel parking, she gently recommended that I take a lesson myself to learn his method, which is apparently foolproof. Read Less

Highly recommended!Two colleagues who went to Attila School of Driving recommended me this school. And I am so glad I followed their advice. Since I already knew how to drive (I have a European license), I took a package including the 5-hour class and a 90-minute driving lesson before the road test. I was relieved that the school takes care of making the appointment for the road test too, that way I had nothing to do, except be there when Attila picked me up.First, let me say that the instructor (Attila) is very nice, patient and accommodating! I thought the 5-hour class would be really boring (and I’m sure it can be), but with Attila, it was actually quite interesting. And it helps prepare for the road test.As for the road test itself, I took a 90-minute lesson before and that really made a difference. Attila shows you everything you need to know. You may know how to drive, but you do not necessarily know how to take the test, and you don’t want to repeat it.
