Every class has a different instructor which i find weird but each instructor was a joy to work with. I give this place 5 stars because the instructors are great. They make you feel very comfortable behind the wheel. They teach you how to pass the road test and the 5 hour class was actually fun. They give you small quizzes and help you remember things. I highly recommend this place if you are not very experienced behind the wheel. I ended up passing my road test! Horrible driving school they take your money , I had paid them for some lessons my permit had expired and when I renewed it and tried to take my classes they said that it was too late . They are very unorganized and dishonest because prior to that someone from that same office I spoke to told me I can get a refund and I never got it and on top of all of that they are very rude , when I brought it to her attention . Americana Driving School is one of the best by far. The Instructors are excellent & provide a calming besides friendly atmosphere during the lessons. One thing I can vouch for at the end of your lessons the student is very confident about there driving skills. As for myself after taking five classes I passed my road test on the first try. After doing some research it is clear that this business is not only shady but very dishonest on their practice.  I have done one of their packages and towards the end of my lessons the instructors were almost begging me to do another 6 more because I am not ready to drive yet.  Granted all I need was practice of course and personally I believe if I rely on instructors I'll never build my own confidence :/ .I was told It would have been an additional 400 which to me is far too fucking much for a driving school. Their instructors were good except for jimmy , he would rack my nerves with his constant yelling and  chatter. I felt extremely uncomfortable with his practices. At the ripe old age of 69+ I finally decided to stop fiddling around and try to get my first-ever driving license. A friend and a neighbor each spoke well of their instructors at Americana so I signed up for the 6 lesson package and upgraded to 12. For starters, Brenda was extremely friendly and helpful. She recommended William and I began studying with him. He's easygoing, friendly, gives directions as you go and gives constant tips on how to learn FOR THE TEST. Your friends and family may be able to teach you to drive but driving for the test is another story. One day, when it was William's day off, I drove with Fidel, who is also very instructive and very kind. About 2/3 of my lessons were with William and about 1/3 with Fidel. I can recommend both without hesitation.Today, in the rain and with a major case of butterflies in my tummy we went to Riverdale to take the road test. I passed! First time!  (I also took the 5 hour class but with Juani, not Juan, and she made it as interesting and lively as such a class could be). Hooray for Americana! Read Less

I took 10 classes and tried every instructor. My favorite instructor was William, but I took him closer to my last lessons when I was better at driving and he gave me addition tips (in real life situations, like parking in narrow spaces, or parking on a hill etc.). I took my road test and I passed it. Before the road test, while we were waiting to take it in the car, he gave us a crash course on everything. I found this man to be wonderful and great, and left me a good impression of the place.Despite William being my favorite instructor, I had commentary from the other instructors in terms of my driving, so overall this school did not give an impression, take-to-fail. Don't waste your money. Not only did I take my test a good month and a half after my last class, but I didn't use the car that I was used to practicing in (which is the norm), the brakes were messed up and the car I used during my test had to be returned because it didn't have up to date inspection (right after I failed the test because of the faulty brakes!). These people are thieves. There are so many other, better, driving schools. These people don't care about you or whether you pass or not. I gave it one star because the instructor I had was alright, but he isn't even the one who drove me to the stupid test. Waste of money. Read Less

***EDIT***Spoke to a WONDERFUL customer service representative this morning. Her name was Brenda. Extremely polite, understanding and knowledgeable. She scheduled my next two classes with ease. I will update once I finish my classes. So happy Americana actually hires competent people!Just like another reviewer, i am only giving Americana 1 Star because there isn't a ZERO star option. I honestly dont think they deserve the star I am giving them.This place has THE WORST billing department ever. I attempted to schedule classes that I already paid for and was given the run around because of a billing department's mistake. Even after they confirmed that I paid, they claimed the needed to correct billing statements before scheduling me.If Americana is giving you this run around, do what I did... CONTACT YOUR BANK!  DONT LET THEM SCAM YOU!Any company with good customer service would have scheduled my class. Especially since they had proof that I paid.Americana is a joke. Read Less

I was crafting this review for five hours last night in my mind during the 5-hour video mandated by the DMV before you can schedule a road test. I'm doing driving lessons at another nearby school and they sent me here to watch the video. I know that a five-hour video required by the DMV would never be a good time, but this place made it infuriating. It's supposed to be just a video but the guy running the class, Juan, seems to believe he's a teacher. The first hour of class I was convinced he was drunk, I'm still not sure he wasn't. He had a thick accent and slurred his words. He was on a total power trip, asking people questions for quizzes that the school made up and wouldn't let us leave until we answered his illogical and poorly-worded questions. Problem was we didn't understand anything he said, so he just stood there glaring at us until we could figure out what was coming out of his mouth. It made for an anxiety-inducing standoff for hours after work, something nobody wants to do with their Wednesday evening.The class was supposed to start at 5:15pm, or so I was told. At 5pm a movie started playing, and silly me, I assumed it was *the* movie. After an hour of watching a movie made by someone on an acid trip, the class began. It was never made clear to us that the acid trip movie was "just for fun" and when I asked why we were made to sit through it Juan condescendingly said "Well you learned something, didn't you?" Uh, no, and I don't appreciate being forced to sit here under the assumption that this was part of the mandatory class.At the end of the class I had to argue for the original certificate of the 5-hour class for over 20 minutes. He said that it would go to my driving school instructor, but given Manuel's review from several weeks ago, there was no way I was walking out without it. I had to almost scream at Juan to get it, he was incredibly condescending and nasty. The whole experience leaves much, much, much to be desired. Avoid this place like your life depends on it. This place was horrible. When I first took the test with them, I failed the test and decided to take the test closer to home. Not know they gave me a copy of the original paper I was suppose to get after the 5-hour movie. I had to cancel my appointment with my new test. When i went to go complain, they had called me back saying i was suppose to call them and tell them to give me the people. Most places give you the original paper as soon as you are done with the 5-hour movie. They were also horrible to us and was disrespecting my own father in front of me and also put words in my mouth that I had never said before. A warning if you are still going to use this place. Make sure they give you the original 5-hour movie paper and not the copy. Read Less

Right from the start, Americana has been completely unprofessional, unhelpful and a complete nightmare. If you can go ANYWHERE ELSE, do it. Two out of the three driving instructors I've worked with have been rude and almost incomprehensible. The people at the office are equally, if not more rude and did not provide me with any helpful information and you can expect to be on hold at least three times each time you call the office. Each time I've scheduled a lesson, they have called me back and made me reschedule because the first person I've talked to scheduled the instructor for a time he wasn't available. I registered my son, Kyle, at Americana driving school after a bad experience with another driving school in the area. The firs thing that impressed me was their spacious classroom and their support staff. My son was assigned to an Instructor named Fidel who taught my son how to drive and park perfectly in less than 8 lessons. He passed the roadtest on the first try. I would recommend this school to anyone. The cars are new, the classes on time and the teachers are patient. They emphasize safe driving to the students.Read Less

I loved the bilingual instructors and the availability of classes.  The scheduling of classes really helped me coordinate my agenda and afforded me the opportunity to take as many classes as I needed to pass the road test on the first try...I was really happy with the service, most people don't go out of their way to accommodate you, they did...I am recommending you to all my friends!
