My instructor was David, really nice guy and he knows what he's doing. He taught me what I had to do to learn how to drive Stick Shift (Manual Transmission ). It was my first time driving those kind of cars. I'm a fast Learner, I picked up really quick. He told me I need to keep practicing and I'll be good. The Instructor was great, answered all my questions and others, DANIEL Tavares . He was very clear and drew on the board with arrows using little cars and buses, especially how to parallel park.  He really pointed at all important  areas to make sure u know so u pass the driving test. The conference room where the 5 he class took place is well-maintained. They supplied pens and paper for note-taking. The instructor, Mr. Taveras was very thorough and helpful-he gave us a lot of tips to help us pass the road test. He also gave us tips on how to drive safely. He was straight to the point and engaged the class. He was very patient in answering questions. It would have been a 5 star review had it not been for the size of the conference room and the size of the whiteboard that he used to make the driving illustrations. We had 11 people in the class and we needed to add extra chairs just so the other people that came in later can have a seats for the class. It ended up being to tight for the small space. The A/C was on blast and I was not prepared and ended up feeling cold. The white board he used was so tiny he didn't have enough space to show the illustrations. Read Less

I'm not giving them a perfect score because of one detail that turned me off. That is not being able to pay their services online and having to call and give them your credit card details over the phone. Though, they give you another option such as going to their office and pay them cash, but it is kind of inconvenient for people who have too little time in their hands. Overall, everyone and everything were awesome. I'm not saying this because I passed my road test on my first try but because people comprising NY Auto School definitely made this process such a breeze. A special shoutout to Susan, their front desk lady, for being so helpful, pleasant and accommodating. Also, a special mention to Norman and Diego, who were my driving instructors, for polishing my driving skills and for being patient with me.Contrary to some negative comments about NY Auto School, I can attest that they have an excellent service and I definitely had a wonderful experience. I have only the best things to say about this business: First, they communicate clearly and in a timely fashion.  My class had to be rescheduled due to something beyond their control. Yet, they reached out to me with plenty of time to readjust my schedule. This is not a trivial issue and lousy customer service is what sinks most aspiring businesses! New York Auto School excels in this field... Second, the five-hour course, taught by David, was excellent. Let's face it: the material is fairly boring. However, David was able to make it relevant by dropping in lots of helpful tips and advice for the road test. An additional plus was the fact that he was able to wrap it up in no longer than four hours, including a decent break and produce the certificates on the spot. Kudos! Third, they managed to get me an expedited road test within two weeks whereas the DMV website was fully booked up for the next two months or so.  For only $50 to skip that queue? Well, that's money well spent. Btw, $50 is also cheaper than most other places as they give you a special price here if you took your 5-hour course with them. Finally, I booked a car and an instructor to give me a one-hour brush up before my road test. It really was worth it... Mario Valencia was the driving instructor - experienced, professional, patient, friendly and also very much fun to spend time with...  He showed up with a brand new Toyota that was a very easy to handle for the test besides being a pleasant ride. Since I learnt my driving in Europe, where a different approach is being tested, his tips and tricks was what made all the difference for me on that day... Although I had to learn the hand-over-hand technique (as opposed to feeding) in steering and parallel parking with both hands on the wheel on the spot, Mario was able to shoot down my acquired habits skillfully and ratchet up my self-confidence  to tackle the road test, which can be a nerve racking experience, although it sounds simple on paper! All in all, I would recommend Mario to anyone who wants to pass the test on the first try with absolutely no reservations.  My two-cents' worth: Go to David's class and ask for Mario to brush up your skills just before your test. Throughout my experience with New York Auto School I have had the pleasure to have 3 instructors. The 3 instructors I had were Thomas, Daniel, and Alexandra. All of these instructors were excellent and were a huge factor of me obtaining my driver's license on my first try. Thomas has taught me a lot in terms of driving and what to do in certain scenarios. He is the type of person who tells you to just go and expects you to solve your own problems which is great because when I am gonna be behind the wheel myself I won't have anyone telling me what to do for safety. Daniel was also great, in an hour he taught me how to parallel park and that was my weakest point. He explained everything in explicit detail and even drew it on a notepad to make sure I understand. Once he gave me insight on how to parallel park I got it almost instantaneously. Alexandra had the responsibility to give me a lesson the day of my road test and prep me for it in the best possible way. As most people are on the day of their road tests I was extremely nervous, but she helped me relax and focus on one goal - obtaining my driver's license. After having several lessons with great instructors I have gotten my license on my first try. In a matter of 6 weeks I was able to get familiar with driving and pass my test with ease. I HIGHLY recommend New York Auto School to anyone who is a stranger to sitting in the driver's seat or just needs a few more lessons to become a safer driver. First, it was super easy to schedule an appointment and (since I live in the city) I was picked up and dropped off at the train station which was very convenient for me. I only had one lesson with Alexandria who was by far the best driving instructor I've ever had and I passed the test that same day. She not only gave me useful tips that without a doubt helped me pass my test, but she also made me feel so comfortable and confident going into the test. I had a pleasure to work with wonderful people running New York Auto school when I moved in NYC couple of months ago from Europe. I had a decent driving history, however NYC requires taking written test, 5 hours prelicensing class and road test from scratch. I found New York Auto school on the web and they made the whole procedure incredibly convenient for me. The scheduled my road test, endured the vehicle and professional instructor  Alexandra Lopez-Djurovic to take me trough the road test by giving me all most important tips. With only one hour driving experience in US I passed the road test without and problems. I strongly recommend to engage Aleksandra if you have similar situation. Unfortunately, my nerves got the better of me during the test and i temporarily forgot some important points that she taught me which was not her fault. The NY Auto school was a great asset in my learning to drive for the 1st time. It is not just the driving but an encouraging word not to give up and keep trying to achieve the driving goal. One doesn't know sometimes that they are nearer the finish line than they are to the begining of the race, ie.
