I've never written a review for anything but I'm registering an yelp account to make a comment on Jim's Cornerstone. I took road test 4 times before I met Jim, and this fifth time after having a lesson with Jim I passed.Jim is the person that knows everything about driving and road test; even in such a short period of time he taught me so much. He identified my weakness right away and he taught me tricks that helped so much.In terms of the "unprofessional" and "unorganized" that many people mentioned, I find it untrue. Jim picked me up before my road test on time, gave me a lesson, took me to test, and sent me home; everything went so well and on time. Compare to the big corporate that treats you like a number instead of a student, only wants to separate you and your money, doesn't care if you pass or not, Jim really cares about you.Jim is generally a good person; he's a decent, funny person who cracks so many jokes to make you laugh and relax you. It doesn't matter what's the world view or political view of one person; it's okay to hold different views because not everyone is born in the same era and grow up in the same environment. Jim is a nice person, terrific teacher and he has my respect.Overall, I definitely recommend Jim's Cornerstone.

Well for the first 25 minutes of us driving around a parking lot. Jim was telling me about his various war crimes in the east indiantic sea. After I told Jim that the Indiantic sea did not exist, he proceeded to lecture me about how my generation doesnt know know how to work. After telling me his war stories, i broke it to jim that he didnt serve in the east indiantic sea war and that he wasnt a veteran of any kind because he had down syndrome.

Very disappointed. They showed up late to pick my son up, cut the lessons short, and the morning of the road test he was supposed to get picked up at 7:30 for. A 45 min lesson and the take him to a 9am road test appt. they didn't show up til 8:45. Gave him a 10 min lesson and got to the road test late. Very unorganized!!! And refused to make good on the shorted time. Will not use or recommend this company again.

The owner IS a racist and ignorant man. I was a former student in his 5 hour instruction class (because he was the only who offered it based on my availability) and I filed a complaint with the attorney general’s office in the 90s for discrimination. I urge anyone who experienced his inappropriate and discriminatory practices received from the owner to open a case with the NYS attorney general’s office since there is a file on him and shut his business down.

I just passed my road test today. I am so beyond happy and excited and I couldn't have done it without the help of Jim. He's absolutely the best in the business and if you need to learn to drive this business is the one you should use. Going into the first lesson I was so nervous and thought I had no chance at ever passing the road test. But after just the first lesson I felt so confident that I could. I even learned how to parallel park that same day. After 5 lessons I passed the road test on my very first try. Huge huge thank you to Jim and all the drivers at Jim's cornerstone. You guys do an awesome job.

Very disappointed today... I have used Jim for my 2 older kids and had no problems. In fact it was a very good experience.. Now years later as my youngest takes her first class and driving lesson, it is horrible.. The instructor is yelling at my child.. If you expect a child to know how to drive the very first day they get in your car... You shouldn't be a driving instructor!! I just can't express how angry I am.

I've read all these negative reviews and was concerned, but our experience with Mr. Jim was positive. He does like to talk and tell stories, but it's his way to distract and not make the student feel nervous. I paid 5 lessons with another driving school with great reviews and failed. I had a couple of lessons with Mr. Jim and passed. He gave great advice and taught really well, especially the parallel parking! Dianne, who helped me set up the lesson was friendly and professional. I would recommend Jim Cornerstone to anyone, this guy has the knowledge and experience to make you pass the road test! Don't waste your time going anywhere else. You won't regret it.

My experience with Mr. Jim was positive. He does like to talk and tell stories, but it's his way to distract and not make the student feel nervous. I paid 5 lessons with another driving school with great reviews and failed. I had a couple of lessons with Mr. Jim and passed. He gave great advice and taught really well, especially the parallel parking! Dianne, who helped me set up the lesson was friendly and professional. Jim forget about my lessons and I called everyday and he still didn't come or answer for a while than tried doing two on one day , he still forgot one and I had road test and he told me not to take it because I wasn't ready. little did I know that was a scam to pay for more lessons and he didn't teach me anything different . Than when my road test came I failed and than I went to Suffolk auto and I passed plus the instructor taught me way more let me drive more and was more kind. There service was very terrible.

I have read many negative reviews about this school and I completely disagree. My daughter took driver's ed through Our Savior, and Jim's Cornerstone teaches there. My daughter's car instructor was Elka and she really liked her. A few days Jim substituted and my daughter liked him as well. She said he took an interest in the students and taught them a lot. I met him and he was a very nice man who really knew his business. At the road tests he looked out for his students. I would absolutely recommend this school.

All I can say is this School is a joke! Charged my friend for driving instructions and she failed her Rd test with points off for every single thing they test for! She should of received a refund!! My friends daughter could not even change lanes properly! Lucky for her I took her out for lessons and she passed her Rd test. I worked for All Suffolk Auto School in Patchogue 9 years ago.. Everyone one of my students , passed their Road test the first time! The owner took her for one lessons before her Rd test ( needed a car for test ) and had the balls to tell her that whoever taught her how to parallel park shouldn't be teaching! The nerve when she could do it every time after I taught her! The owners daughter is the genius who had her for the whole coarse when she failed and received points off for EVERYTHING the first time she took the Rd test! Save your money do not use this School, they suck!

Where do I even start with the unprofessional, uneducated, racist, sexist, xenophobic moron that runs this driving school? I took 10 lessons with him and didn't learn any driving. Unsurprisingly, I failed my road test today, which I had expected. He never actually taught me driving, as much as made snide disrespectful remarks about people of different genders and races while I attempted to drive. He talked through every lesson about his completely boring and mundane life stor...ies, which was extremely distracting and deterred me from focusing on learning. He spoke to me with extreme condescension throughout the process, while his ignorant remarks always put me on edge. Having had no previous driving experiences and being completely new to it as an adult from a foreign country without a driving culture, paying money to Jim was the equivalent of flushing it down the toilet. I have learned nothing and need to start from scratch elsewhere, with hopefully a teacher that is actually mildly socially aware and does something close to instructing. I highly recommend paying a little bit more money to take your driving lessons elsewhere, especially if you are a new adult driver. See More

Where do I even start with the unprofessional, uneducated, racist, sexist, xenophobic moron that runs this driving school? I took 10 lessons with him and didn't learn any driving. Unsurprisingly, I failed my road test today, which I had expected. He never actually taught me driving, as much as made snide disrespectful remarks about people of different genders and races while I attempted to drive. He talked through every lesson about his completely boring and mundane life stories, which was extremely distracting and deterred me from focusing on learning. He spoke to me with extreme condescension throughout the process, while his ignorant remarks always put me on edge. The owner was consistently late for my daughter's lessons, blaming his tardiness on his other drivers. On the way to my daughter's road test she was driving and was rear ended while sitting at a stop sign. Instead of the teacher allowing her to calm down from this experience, he tells her to do the road test first. Really! Who went shaken up from a fender bender all be it minor, would be ready to take their road test first? The owner is unprofessional and needs to let someone else teach.

When I called to complain all he did was move my kid to a different car. I wanted the instructor fired and they flat out blew me off. I had to leave work to pick up my crying child. THE WORST

I've never written a review for anything but I'm registering an yelp account to make a comment on Jim's Cornerstone. I took road test 4 times before I met Jim, and this fifth time after having a lesson with Jim I passed.Jim is the person that knows everything about driving and road test; even in such a short period of time he taught me so much. I just passed my road test today. I am so beyond happy and excited and I couldn't have done it without the help of Jim. He's absolutely the best in the business and if you need to learn to drive this business is the one you should use. Going into the first lesson I was so nervous and thought I had no chance at ever passing the road test. But after just the first lesson I felt so confident that I could. I even learned how to parallel park that same day. After 5 lessons I passed the road test on my very first try. Huge huge thank you to Jim and all the drivers at Jim's cornerstone. You guys do an awesome job.

Very disappointed today... I have used Jim for my 2 older kids and had no problems. In fact it was a very good experience.. Now years later as my youngest takes her first class and driving lesson, it is horrible.. The instructor is yelling at my child.. If you expect a child to know how to drive the very first day they get in your car... You shouldn't be a driving instructor!! I just can't express how angry I am.

Jim forget about my lessons and I called everyday and he still didn't come or answer for a while than tried doing two on one day , he still forgot one and I had road test and he told me not to take it because I wasn't ready. little did I know that was a scam to pay for more lessons and he didn't teach me anything different . I have read many negative reviews about this school and I completely disagree. My daughter took driver's ed through Our Savior, and Jim's Cornerstone teaches there. My daughter's car instructor was Elka and she really liked her. A few days Jim substituted and my daughter liked him as well. She said he took an interest in the students and taught them a lot. The owner was consistently late for my daughter's lessons, blaming his tardiness on his other drivers. Instead of the teacher allowing her to calm down from this experience, he tells her to do the road test first. Really! Who went shaken up from a fender bender all be it minor, would be ready to take their road test first? The owner is unprofessional and needs to let someone else teach.
