If i could give a 10/5 stars I would. AMAZING staff especially Sam and the owner herself, I came in 10 days ago after failing my first exam due to me trying to go the cheap route and just receive informal lessons from friends and loved ones, but they took what prior knowledge and made me passed today and I am a 1000x grateful for it. Sam is really easy going, she takes it slow and explains why it is you do things you do while driving behind the wheel just overall an amazing teacher and helped me make everything second nature. I would highly recommend everyone if you have the time and availability choose this driving school. It was an hour and a half commute every time I went for a lesson but it was definitely worth it. Also their liveliness and un-robotic like nature makes your more at ease at the day of the test instead of putting so much pressure on you, it was words of encouragement all the way. But honestly they took me a failed student, and within 10 days got my license. So, I took my chance to come to this place, “lama Driving School.” I took the five-hour class, then I decided to continue with driving lessons. Their prices are pretty good compared to others. I am writing my first Yelp review ever in order to give Lama Driving School a well deserved 5-star rating! I learned about Lama Driving School through Yelp, and I was stunned by the amount of 5-star reviews this driving school received. I decided to give it a try, and it was the best decision I could have ever made!! I did the seven lesson package and passed my road test on the very first try!!! My permit expired the day before my driving exam, so I HAD to pass my test. The staff at Lama Driving School made that possible for me. Taking lessons and learning how to drive in Brooklyn is so nice because people aren't as reckless drivers as in Manhattan, and the streets are pretty calm. The driving exam is in Staten Island (a blessing because there are hardly any pedestrians or cars!), and you have your last lesson on the day of your exam to ensure that you pass. The staff is super welcoming and kind. They are also very accommodating to your needs. They encourage you and root for your success all along your journey to getting your license. All of my instructors were incredible and taught me the things I needed to know for the exam. Lama, the owner of the school, became like a mother/auntie to me by the end of this experience. Sam was super kind and often reminded me of the rules of the exam. Aliyah became my absolute favorite instructor because she was so patient and made me feel so at ease while driving (much love and blessings to you Aliyah!). Okay so I'm writing this review literally as I'm walking out of lama driving school. I just passed my road test today!!!! I absolutely cannot believe I got my license. I am a character who hits things when I walk, I never thought I'd be able to get it together to get my license especially not on the first shotI highly recommend lama driving school over any other and I would say this even if I didn't pass. I did the seven lesson package and could have probably passed even with less lessons. From the moment I called to inquire to the last second I felt so invited and comfortable with all of the staff. Everyone is extremely patient helpful kind and really shows they care. I had lessons with a few different instructors who were all amazing and all of them gave me helpful tips.Lama makes you feel like family. I am definitely going back for some highway lessons with them which I think is great that they offer!I had three lessons left before my road test which was in two days and they were able to accommodate me last minute and give me two back to back lessons the day before and then today the day of my exam Abraham (who is soooooooo great!) Gave me a lesson in the area of the testing site.I guess I'll cut this long review off before it gets too long but I could keep going about how wonderful lama driving school is. currently on my second lesson. the receptionist was super friendly and efficient in sheduling. the reminder system is very smart(they text and call you to confirm the lesson). my first teacher named Magus was very calming and he knew what he was doing(he explained the key points that the driving test will look for). additionally he was very encouraging yet critical while driving, and pointed out if you were driving too slow or not staying centered. 10/10 would recommend and will keep updated for whether I pass the test or not. I had the best experience here at Lama Driving School! I took the 5 lesson package at first but added a few more before the road test for extra practice. My first time driving EVER, Lama took me out for a drive and helped me conquer any doubts or fear I had. I also took lessons with various instructors and I especially enjoyed Sam and Aaliyah! Everyone is so incredibly patient, fun and they treat you like family! Their sole goal is to make sure you're a good and safe driver! I will be recommending everyone I know to come here! I am extremely satisfied with Lama Driving School for a number of reasons.First and foremost, I am pleased with the final outcome. Despite being a complete beginner, I passed my drive test on my first attempt. Secondly, I am impressed at how Lama and her team were able to accommodate my schedule and were able to schedule a drive test for me within the same month that I began my classes - that in itself is impressive. Next, Lama saved me money, plain and simple. In the beginning, I was sure I would need at least ten classes because I was a total beginner. Lama herself told me that I should start with six and as it turns out, six was exactly the right number. Furthermore, at Lama Driving School, I took classes with around 5 different instructors; this turned out to be very useful because they all have different styles so you learn different things and during the test, when the examiner sits in the car, you're not afraid because you're used to driving with someone different. On the subject of the test, I felt that Lama did everything to ensure that I was well prepared, not just with the necessary knowledge but with a lot of encouragement. She is a very warm and generous person and you can see that she really wants all her students to pass. She has wonderful energy and that's important in a skill like driving where confidence is everything. Finally, a word on Lama's team - they are all doing a fantastic job including the two young ladies in the office responsible for scheduling. They are very on top of things and manage the work of six/seven people. The only thing that I would urge anyone considering signing up with Lama Driving School is to be flexible. Getting my license was stress-free and enjoyable, thanks to Lama Driving School. The people were very friendly and experienced. The schedules were very flexible, meaning I was able to get back to back lessons with my friend in the same car. It was more fun than anything, like taking turns at a video game with my buddy. It was also relatively inexpensive, and easily manageable with their package deals. From getting my permit to getting my license, the entire process took 3 weeks! Lama Driving School was really professional, friendly, and taught to the driving test. As a college student who as by far the oldest, I felt very comfortable practicing driving with the different teachers. They were very professional and made conversation with me as I drove. They taught me very important skills about stopping, turning, 3-point turn, and parallel parking. I would highly recommend this driving school because even though it is not super close for people living in Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, or Staten Island, this place is well-worth the price. I first went to Lama driving school for the 5 hour class on April 1st. Lama taught it and she was really sweet and optimistic saying that we would all get our licenses quickly and easily. I didn't believe her but I really wanted my license by the summer, so I asked her if it was possible and she said of course! I took 5 lessons within a few weeks, one or two lessons per week, so it was actually pretty relaxing and not rushed. On April 27th I took my road test for the first time and passed! It was pretty easy. Keep in mind before April I had never driven before. Honestly pretty low prices and great staff here. Other driving schools have packages of 10-15 classes, while here they have packages of 3-7 classes. That's all you need to pass your road test. I was so nervous to get my driver's license after using a different driving school and failing my driver's test 4 years ago. I needed to get my driver's license in a week and Lama made it happen. My first lesson with Roula was difficult for I realized how much I needed to learn and I lost self-esteem (also turns out she's a writer, definitely check out her writing!). My next four lessons were with Lama, who immediately put me to ease. Lama is a combination of your funny best friend, mother and teacher. She is rambunctious and funny but she will not baby you. Her lessons didn't feel like lessons out of a curriculum but real life lessons to help you pass the test. I am deeply grateful for Lama and her team for helping a nervous driver pass her test! I had a fantastic experience with Lama Driving School! Great staff!!! Great prices! Accommodating scheduling! Got my license in just 2 weeks!I initially chose Lama Driving School because it was the best pricing and they offered the Staten Island road test but lessons in Brooklyn. Even though I live on the other side of Brooklyn and had to travel out of my way for lessons, I am so glad I chose this school.Only 2 weeks ago I registered for 7 lessons with the school without ever having any driving experience! Since I work a 9-5 job, Lama agreed to schedule me for a 6pm appointment (very accommodating btw!).  I had never driven on the streets before in my life! As I began to back out of the drive way and onto the streets, I realized it was rush hour! Traffic filled the streets as I cautiously drove the surrounding blocks. Little did I know how critical this was to becoming acclimated as a new driver. I broke through my fear of driving and flourished ever since. Additionally Lama had confidence in me that I did not even know was there until the end of that first lesson.Since that time, I took the remaining 6 lessons and practiced as much as I could with friends. When it came time to sit for the road test I passed on my first try!!!You can probably go to any driving school and get your license in a reasonable time but if you choose Lama Driving School, you will look forward to your lessons and make friends along the way! I cannot thank the staff at Lama Driving School enough for helping me get my license. Their instructors were both supportive and informative, and they tailored lessons to fit my personal needs. I made progressive improvement during my lessons. While I primarily worked with Ibrahim, I also had a chance to work with two other instructors, who provided valuable input and perspective. I never had any scheduling issues; their office accommodated my request for weekend lessons, and I always received a confirmation phone call on the day prior to a lesson. Ok so I should probably mention that I've stalled to get my license for about 8 years because of a traumatic accident when I was a child. I was terrified ALL MY LIFE to get behind the wheel of a car. I'm sooo happy that I found this school. My instructor was Ibrahim; he was strict but patient which is exactly what I needed. Best driving school in Brooklyn perhaps even NYC! Unmatched service and amazing people. I took my 5 hr class there. Then they scheduled my driving test on the nearest available date possible. On the day of the test Lama gave me my pre-test lesson which turned out to be the key for making sure that I get my license in first try. She is so hilarious, supportive and keeps atmosphere light so that you don't get nervous during the test. She is the most perfect instructor. Brilliant driving school! I used to drive in the UK - (manual and opposite side of the road) but I managed to pass first time with only 5 lessons. I had lessons with 4 instructors - they have each been trained with the same teaching techniques so doesn't really matter who you go with. They will go out of their way to try to book lessons around your schedule. They always call you to remind you about your lessons/test also. I did the 5 hour class with them which makes it even more convenient. Very reasonably priced and friendly staff. They genuinely want you to do well and pass as soon as possible rather than make money from you. Lama herself is so friendly and hilarious - she took me to the test in Staten Island. I had almost 14 lessons before my road test. It wasn't because of the instructors/school but because I took gaps in between the lessons. I had lessons with several instructors and Lama herself. They are all good instructors, but the one I felt comfortable and being able to learn was with Mageed. He is very gentle and thorough in his lessons. Roula took me to run errands for her during the lessons (?).The day of the road test, I was told to be in the school at 8am. We got to Staten Island by 9am and had my last lesson. I paid $43 for the last lesson because of the toll. Lama made sure I was comfortable and confident making turns, parallel parking and doing K turns before my test in the area where it took place. TWO AMAZING INSTRUCTORS TO GO WITH: 1).   LAMA, the ownerHILARIOUS, NURTURING, CLEAR, and SUPPORTIVE.  You'll LOVE her like your own mother.  2).   ALYAAPATIENT and explains how to drive CLEARLY and EASILY This school is awesome!  I got my permit almost 2 years ago at 33 years old but was too scared to continue after a few lessons.  At 35 yrs old, I took a chance and tried again.  This time I requested learning w/ females only and they obliged.  I am SOOOOOO happy I did.  They teach the difference between driving to pass the DMV's exam and driving in the real world.  I found there is a huge difference between the nurturing a female gives while teaching and the dictator way a man can teach, which may work for some but not for me.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE TEACHERS! and I'm somebody who never believed I would drive.  And now, I have my license!!!  THEY ARE AMAZING!  :DOn a side note, I lost my permit the day before my road exam.  Lama dropped me off at the Staten Island DMV and in 10 minutes, I had a temp permit.  Alyaa picked me up and brought me to the test site.  This is NOT a money grabbing business, they really show pride when you come away having learned a new skill.  I AM SO GRATEFUL TO THEM !
