I would recommend anyone to ask for Reid as their instructor, one of the best. He easy to talk to and very encouraging. The very first time I dealt with him was for my pre driving test before the exam, for about 10 mins since I was late. It’s safe to say I’m now a licensed driver. His driving tips were easy to understand and apply. Also I would just like to recommend Clifford, his method are easy to apply and is definitely one of the best instructors. Where do I even begin! I began my lessons with Mr. Reid and it was the best decision I could have ever made for myself. He broke things down in the simplest way possible, with road reminders that made learning to drive enjoyable! His patience and positive attitude curbed my anxiety within the first few lessons, instilling a level of confidence and ease in me that I thought wasn't possible as a new driver. Mr Dathan made sure I was completely ready for my road test. He had inside information on the difference course locations and inspectors . 5hr class is a joke but it's dumb that the DMV requires you to take it on first place. I started my driving classes with Globlex last year, got a test date but I wasn't confident so I cancelled it. Started my driving lesson again after a few months of not doing any driving what's so ever, I then decided that I wanted a new instructor because I wasn't comfortable with the one I had. They recommended two instructors but I decided on Mr. Reid, I was told he was one of the best which he was. I had two lessons with him, I repeat two lessons! This place URGES you to be "ON TIME", both on the website and when you call to inquire about the class, however, I attended the Saturday class, which was supposed to start at 10am, however, they didn't start registering people until 10, I'm  assuming because this is a money hungry establishment and have no cutoff point as to when to stop accepting people for this class. In other words they kept registering late comers until no one else came. Long story short, they didn't start the class until 11am, with no explanation of why we're starting late or any apology for the inconvenience. I had to endure a 5 hour class now listening to an instructor that was barely audible because of the loud old school air conditioners and fans that were on in the room, amongst people complaining "I can't hear you" every few minutes.  Globexx, take the $45 your making from people and get a better facility to have this 5 hour class, have an instructor that teaches a DMV approved curriculum (not personal stories) and have your staff take a class in giving good customer service. I first started at Ferrari, a great school but super expensive. So I decided to go to Globex because it was inexpensive for my budget. My first instructor was Hypolite, he the most unprofessional and did not properly teach me the rules of the road and did not instill confidence in me to pass my road test. This led me to fail my road test twice under his teaching, after that, I decided to switch to Mr. Reid after reading reviews on Google (I should of did that the first time but I guess I live and learn). When I started with Mr. Reid we spent like 10 minutes in the car going over the basics and I really appreciated that because that is something I didn't do when I had Hypolite. Mr. Reid was always on time and if he wasn't going to be on time, he would call me ahead of time and give me an ETA which is something Hypolite never did or if he did the timing was way off. Mr. Reid broke down each concept of driving so I was able to understand how to do each maneuver. I also appreciated his patience and attentiveness when teaching me. He never yelled and had a calming voice that made me feel like I knew what I was doing. As I was prepping for my third road test, Mr. Reid informed me that he was leaving  but I the information he instilled in me still stayed. After that lesson I made sure I chose another instructor named Mr. Blake. He and Mr. Reid driving styles are somewhat similar so the adjustment was pretty easy. Mr. Blake continued to instill the confidence in me to be the driver I never thought I could be. Mr. Blake was there when I attempted my road test for the third time and I'm proud to say I passed!  A huge shoutout to both Mr. Blake and Mr. Reid for instilling a huge amount of confidence in me to be a better and safe driver especially in these NYC streets. I passed my road test the first time around because of Mr Reid. He is the best part of the whole place. Wasn't a huge fan of the 5 Hour course set up but wouldn't mind. I wish that there was a rating lower than 1. This driving school is worst case scenario. I went for the 5 hour course that is required by the DMV. My instructor showed up late, so we just watched the seatbelt safety VHS from 1982 repeatedly until he finally arrived. The entire 5 hours consisted of Mr. Riley going back and forth between yelling at the class and telling stories that had no basis in driving. He brought us a gallon of water and mouthwash cups and told us we could have as much water as we wanted, but that we were not allowed to leave the floor for any reason. There were no breaks in 5 hours. Mr. Riley said that he wanted to leave early, so he would ask us 3 questions and if we were correct we could go home and he would sign our certificate (I'm sure the DMV would have loved that). We got the questions right. But he said we were wrong (a blinking yellow light DOES mean proceed with caution.)...he never gave us the "right" answer. The whole thing was a joke. I learned nothing except that nobody should ever go to this school. I think he is doing drivers in NY a disservice by pretending to be educating people. I left that room knowing less than I knew when I came in. Please never go here. Read Less

While the customer service is TERRIBLE, I will say that the treatment I received from my instructor (Dathan) made up for it. Although he is a little rough around the edges, he makes it a very comfortable environment; which eased a lot of stress that I had. When I first started my lessons, I had little to no experience. I was afraid to touch the gas - lol, I was truly a beginner. The only experience I had was driving in an empty parking lot one day with my mother. Within my first lesson, I not only learned how to do a broken U-turn, but I learned how to parallel park as well. I purchased the 10 lesson package that included a road test - and it really bothered me that they decided to schedule my road test without asking me if the date was okay, then said if I didn't take the remainder of my lessons by the date of my test I would have to pay extra  (I had to wind up taking off from school, which is a big deal in college). ANYWAY, I began my lessons in July, and took my road test in October. I passed on the first try (yay!) and I promised my instructor I would at least give him some recognition, because he truly deserved it. If possible, make sure you ask one of the many rude secretaries if Dathan could be your instructor! Read Less

I had Mr. Hippolote.........worst instructor but i didn't know that at the time I was with him. I never practiced before, so if youre a newbie dont go here or if they give you him ask for a different guy. If you just need a car to practice in, then this is fine. One time he grabbed the wheel when i was making a l. turn on a twoway with no other cars behind or coming towards me and the light was about to change........reason why, i turned a little bit before the yellow lines ended. He screamed at me for not moving after, but it was his sudden grab and continued hold that could've crashed the car.  For such a miniscule mistake, he could've verbally corrected me AFTER. But it was only until i went to a different school closer to the area of my driving test and that had an available car did i learn so much. I had 8 classes with hippolite, but with the new school i realized i didn't know how to turn on a car since it was always already on. With the new school my first lesson was learning every button in a car like windshield wipers, Hazzard lights and etc. With hipp. He just told me to drive. You know whats also important that i wasn't made aware of.....my blindspots. I didnt know small cars had blindspots, i thought it was a minivan and truck problem. Its something you need to check on your road test and show youre attentive to it. With 3 lessons from the other school i learned how to properly drive as well as please and make my road test instructer feel safe. But what was also a major help was driving on the jackie robinson from bk to the bronx and my new school area let me encounter more street signs like an always always stop sign, which  i didnt see while here and wouldnt have known the difference or how to react to a yeild sign with merging lanes. Hippolote talked about everything that wasn't important and i would have been unprepared if i stayed with them and probably would have failed my driving test. I also disliked that they kept calling to schedule me for more classes after we both realized they couldn't provide a car for my road test. If you are someone who values good customer service, Globex is not the school for you. Over the past 3 months I have been taking lessons with Blake. His problem was not in regards to his skills as a driving instructor. I would never take away from the fact that he knows his stuff. He wasn't just teaching me to past the road test, he was genuinely teaching me to drive and I feel 1000% more confident when on the road because of his excellent teaching skills. His problem was that for about my last 5 lessons (which I always scheduled for Sat morning at 8:50am) he was ALWAYS LATE!!! Not 5 or 10 mins late, more like 20-40 mins late. Every single Saturday I dreaded my phone ringing about 10 mins after he was suppose to pick me up with yet another excuse why he was running late again. Never apologetic, just full of excuses. Lateness aside, my real gripe with this school and Blake is what happened to me this morning. About a month and a half ago I called to confirm that they had in fact scheduled my road test (this service was a part of my package). I was told a date and time then about 2 weeks later I got a little postcard in the mail from them with the exact same information. That my road test had been scheduled and what time Blake would be picking me up for a practice run and then on to the road test site. This all was suppose to be happening this morning. Well he came and picked me up (15 mins late I might add), we drove on around Brooklyn for practice on the way to the test site, all just to get there and find out that I in fact DO NOT have a test scheduled for today or any day for that matter. I wasted my time, lost money by not going into work on time, all for nothing. The worst part is not one person from Globex has even apologized to me for this huge inconvenience. I call the school to see what can be done and needless to say they were useless. I ended up having to schedule my own road test and the earliest date is not till November. I'm now out of lessons and I told the supervisor that I would appreciate a few of free lessons to make up for the inconvenience. He first said we can't do that and offered me a measly $10 off my final $100 payment due the day of the test. When I stated my dissatisfaction he offered me 1 free lesson and told me if I took the free lesson he could no longer give me the $10 off. I've worked in the customer service industry before and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is not how you treat loyal, paying customers. This is by far the worst experience I have ever encountered and I urge you to give your money to a different school. Globex doesn't deserve it and isn't worth all the headaches you'll surely get. The lack of professionalism here is disgusting. I was directed here by another driving school for their 5-hour class and the staff here (a man named Riley -- who refused to give me his full name or clarify whether that was his first name or last name -- and a woman registering students) was rude and kept cutting me off when I tried to relay the information I was given. I failed my road test the first time around. Then I inquired about globex and my instructor was Mr.Reid. At first, I was impatient because I didn't drive in a long time and he kept stopping the car to explain things and I was hasty but when I listened, it made a huge difference. He diagnosed what I did wrong when driving right off the bat- literally in two minutes of me driving. He's like a driver whisperer.He taught all the tips and tricks that helped me pass the road test. He instilled confidence in my driving and made me realize that good judgement is the most important thing of driving. He loved to illustrate scenarios with his cigarette box lol but it really helped to understand..of course I passed the road test and I couldn't be happier! So hats off to Mr. Reid. Although my driver instructor Was friendly and pretty much.everyone i spoke To was Kind i did not learn much if at all anything.from my instructor,  the gentleman that teaches the 5 hr class is funny but could.possibly be insane lol.  But i heard other instructors Are great maybe i.didnt.get the best one Read Less

When i called to ask what was happening, the person I spoke with not only didnt have an answer, he didnt have an apology either. hello everyone.before i start , i have to say thanks again to mr DUNES, he is an amazing instructor. he works from his heart, he gives everything a student need to pass his road test. at first i couldn"t believe. if ill get my license one day. i was very eager to get my license, but , i wasnt ready. to be honest, but since globex school gave me MR DUNES. as instructor, he always told me my friend , all ur need is to follows the rules. respect stop sign, parking always turn ur head observe, before pulling out. then the day came. 10/26/2012, at 11:39:26. i respect everything, and the result. i definitely got my driver license. i highly recoomend MR DUNES to the new student. there is no human being perfect, but for sure he is perfect as instructor.. thanks to globex too. for having an amazing man like him on their team.
