This is an okay school if you learn best from stern teachers. I think Mr. Stewart is pretty good, but he doesn't have much patience for beginners. In my experience, the business itself is professional. The instructors are on time and I didn't have an issue getting a refund for the car and lesson I booked (way in advance) for the road test. The people who answered the phone were always courteous too. I'm anti-package and it's served me well. I hopped around until I found the school/instructor that was the right fit for me. He is patient, teaches you the rules of the road and professional. He put me at total ease and I felt confident taking my road test, in which I passed (5 classes, second road test attempt). My first attempt was with another Instructor from Adam who spent more time on the phone and listening to music then teaching me anything.As far of the school, there have been some hiccups along the way.  IF you decide to go to Adams, trust me, ask for Doc!!! So far, I like this school. This is the second time I have my permit, and since I had lessons before I am not a newbie. With all that being said, this school is good. Doc is a great instructor. I set up a lesson and they told me to be outside I stood outside for 15 minutes when I call them and asked them where is the instructor that I don't see him and they told me they canceled my lesson and forgot to tell me after taking my money is that quality service. When I call and ask why nobody contacted me they started pointing fingers and didn't know who to blame. And then when you talking to them on the phone they hang up before you could even finish your sentence. I'm going to have to sacrifice and spend a little bit more money and go to US auto school. Like someone else said they're really rude if you've never driven ..I had one instructer on a Sunday literally have the worst attitude with me almost made me cry he was so rude ..He expected me to know things that I couldn't possibly know by only taking 3 lessons ..He also made me aware of things my previous instructer did not even bother to mention ..I don't know but I know I'll need way more than 10 lessons and I plan on moving to los Angeles so I really need my liscense so it's important ..My instructor now is a little better but I don't know if I will take my next 10 with them I might just use them for the 5 hr class and the road test and pay for and better school.. I REPEAT DO NOT GO THERE!!!! the instructor was on the phone the whole time!!! i had early classes and it was 8 in the morning and the instructor i had (i dont remember his name, he had dreads and wears glasses) was on the phone not even paying attention to me and at the end of the class had the nerve to tell me if i want to drive i should read some books to teach me. that was just awful. i would not recommend anyone go there Read Less

Chose this school based upon family recommendations and price, and honestly wish I would've chosen elsewhere. If you've NEVER been behind the wheel (like me) and have only ridden in the car as a passenger, DO NOT GO HERE!!!I signed up for the 10 class package, including the car for the road test. But at this rate, I will NOT be taking the test for the sake of safety for all NYC roads.The instructors get annoyed/sarcastic if you make a lot of mistakes and I get the feeling that they expect you to have driven a car before. From day 1, you're on busy roads, expected to know how to make turns etc., & as someone who's never been behind the wheel, it can be too much to handle.I took Barrington at first and switched with the QUICKNESS. Only take him if you need a refresher course, not as a newbie. I'm taking Mr. Wilson now and he's a LITTLE better. He actually gave me a instructional packet that provided tips, outlined my mistakes and gave kudos to what I actually did right. But like Barrington, he has a habit of getting annoyed with you if you make mistakes (which should be expected as a STUDENT), but whatever.In short, if you take a chance with this school, keep switching instructors until you find someone who is PATIENT enough and willing to treat you like a student who's never driven before, not like a child. I SIGNED UP FOR 6 LESSONS WITH THIS SCHOOL, NO ROAD TEST, IM A BEGINNER SO I FELT I WASN'T READY FOR THE ROAD TEST. MY INSTRUCTOR NAME WAS MR.STEWART, LEST'S JUST SAY THAT MR STEWART NEEDS A LESSON IN PATIENCE, HE WAS NOT INSTRUCTING ME TO DRIVE HE WAS COMMANDING. Never had any outstanding issues with the school, ordered a 10-Lesson package which included the price for the 5 hr class, as well as a car for the road test. Road Instructors (I had Mr. Barrington as well as Mr. Stevenson) were always on time. Any time they were running late they would call ahead and inform me. The staff in the office aren't the most friendly, but they do their job so I can't complain. Mr. Joseph will make a couple jokes here and there during the 5 hr class, so at least it's somewhat enjoyable. Although I failed the Road test the first time because of possibly inexperience, and nervousness, additional lessons helped me work on my skills. I recommend! Read Less

I've been driving for years now but wanted to review this school. I don't remember my instructor's name but I had a great instructor. He was cool, easy going and made sure I knew everything necessary to pass the road test...which I did on the first try. The prices are affordable, especially in comparison to other driving instruction schools in Brooklyn.I had a different instructor the day of my road test but he was just as cool. Only Driving school I went to. I learned a lot from the classes. The office looks seriously outdated it's like I stepped into 1985! I went for my road test and I passed so therefore Adam's gets 5 Stars. I have nothing bad to say about this establishment. I took one class... and I was "Set Good Like The Ice Inna Freeza!" My name is Roxan M.W. I live in Brooklyn, New York. My experience at Adams Auto school was special and very hopeful that eventually led to success. As a student I have learned through hard work and perseverance the rules of the road and gained the confidence I needed not only to pass my road test but to be a responsible driver. I had 1 of the best qualified teachers. His name is MR. MILLER. The first rule was always look far ahead and make use of your mirrors at all times. His punctuality was flawless. Actually he never cancelled out on me as a teacher. He was always waiting in front of my home at the time of my scheduled appointment up and ready to help me to learn my maneuvers in order to pass my road test. He was more interested in his students success than in money and high fees. He was well qualified in the sense that he took quality time and patience to make sure that his students understand the driving lessons and the whole works. If and when he identifies your area of weakness in driving he usually spends more time on that so you'll be able to master that specific maneuver. His kindness, sincerity, and love for his students and his job far out weights the writing of this review. Honestly, I believe and recommend that MR. MILLER should be given a yearly bonus plus a raise. This is because he stands out and is 1 of the best qualified at Adams Auto School. The services I've received was awesome. I have gained an extended family. That is the Manager's wife(Mom) and son(Junior) were the best. Their professional services to students are beyond excellence. I will always be thankful for the love, encouragement, and motivation, I have received when I was a student at Adams Auto School. I have had three different instructors here, Mr. Miller, Mr. Brown, and someone else. They come off like stern fathers - you get a little frustrated, but you appreciate them later. They have a lot of patience and years of driving experience. They've also been in the neighborhood for years. They offer that BS 5hr class as well. If you can get past the rinky dink office, it's worth the money. They're always on time to pick you up, and the cars are in good shape. I have to admit that failing the road test was all my fault. Horrible experience. Starting with scheduling the appointments and ending with the drivers... I was told horror stories about DMVs, but after this school, i'm looking forward to meet any DMV officer and check out any DMV location!!! the place is godknowswhere, i had to go there for a 5hr class that was given by a gentelman who barely speaks english. the classroom had no AC, one tiny bathroom - fiiilthy! the promise is that they'll schedule an appointment for me - nope, didn't do that, i had to do it on my own, - complete incometence on their part. Oh, also, the car fleet is circa 1970 and the instructors have attitude. I know this place appears cheap, but you'll pay double at the end ($10 cancellation fee????
