NORMANS driving school is amazing ! I spent over $400 with a driving school before meeting Norman. I failed my road test three times before meeting Norman. I did three lessons with Norman and passed my road test the first time in pouring rain. Norman really cares about his students and it’s not all about money for him. I gave him a very hard time and he was very patient and understanding throughout the process. I wish I came to this school before. He taught me how to park, and do better turns something I was not getting from my previous school . Also he gives you his own evaluation before u take ur road test just how the examiners would do. I signed up without any driving experience. I took 7 lessons before taking the test. Their pricing was very competitive and their service was more than satisfactory. Norman is very friendly. He treated me with respect, professionalism and patience. Took 3 lessons with Norman and he came near my house each time. Took 2 lessons with Leo and he also came near my house to pick me up. Took 2 lessons with Bandor and he didn't pick me up; I had to go to the driving school for the lesson. I wasn't happy about it but I didn't mind. All 3 instructors are good people. They will tell you what you are doing well and wrong. I would recommend this school to people trying to learn how to drive.Read Less

I have never been around a steering wheel before Norman's driving school therefore I felt it best to sign up the 15 lesson package because I know I was going to need extra lesson because the thought of driving scared me. My initial lessons were with Norman but because he was expanding he had a new instructor Leo that I decided to give a chance, thank god I did, he was  not your regular instructor you could tell he loved what he did and he was great at it, he taught me the mechanics of driving and the significance of everything that is done, he was really dedicated to me passing my road test on the first go, he compromised and gave me addition time the evening before my test to brush up on my weak points. Well I past my road test yesterday and I am still in disbelief because I doubted myself so much but he never doubted me once......thank you Leo and Norman driving school!! I think some of these ppl leaving five star ratings are friends or relatives of the owner. Horrible customer service, canceled lesson after lesson smh. I purchased a 10 lesson package n was told that if I paid all upfront, I would receive an 11th lesson free. Our second appointment, Norman was a no call/no show. I called him to see what happened n he nonchalantly stated that the car had mechanical issues. Fine, but a call in advance would've been nice.  During a two month span, I only received 6 lessons. He canceled so frequently that I would have to call him the day before our scheduled lesson to ensure he was coming to get me.The last straw was when I called to ask if he was still gonna make it to my lesson....which was a few days b4 my road test. He had a family emergency n told me he couldn't make it n that if I failed my road test, he would give me free lessons to prepare me for the next one. I demanded my money back n took my business elsewhere. Once he gets u to pay upfront, he could care less about your lessons. And he does have way more students than he can accommodate. Run far away!! I'm happy that a family member of mines referred me to Norman's driving school. When I had told my cousin that I wanted to get my license but I wanted it to be local and affordable, he gave me the number to Norman's Auto Driving school. My cousin told me that he did his driving lessons with Norman, his prices are affordable and Norman is a really good instructor. I had called that same day and scheduled to do my 5hr class. I now have completed my 5hr class and I'm going on my 4th lesson and I couldn't be happier, and I must add that the price is incredibly affordable! I booked with Norman after failing my road test for the first time. He was always on his phone and never really provided instruction when doing lessons. It felt like I was driving him around. The week before the road test he recommended only after I asked that I pay for 3 more lessons. At this point, I was extremely hesitant and reluctantly paid for two lessons. Unfortunately, he cancelled on me last minute stating his car had mechanical problems. So I only did one rushed lesson right before the road test which consisted of running errands. After looking for weeks and months for a good and affordable driving school. I was also looking for a flexible schedule that worked with my time and for someone that was going to be a good teacher. I chose Norman's driving school from a review I saw on yelp and I am so happy I called and signed up for a package. Norman is very patient, he works with you and he teaches you all the basics of driving. I failed my first driving test, but right away he told me not to give up and rescheduled me for the next available date. I am happy to say I passed and got my driver's license on April 25th. I passed my road test today yayyyy thanks to Norman driving school I took my road test at strang avenue at 10a.m. I purchase 10 lesson package and my instructor throughout my lessons was Norman himself.Norman is patient and very laid back, he teaches you tricks when driving he has a trick for 3 point turn, parking, and when stopping at the intersection. Before my road test at 10 I had one more lesson and he also did a practice road test with me and we went over the things that I did wrong on the practice road test. I was nervous before the the test but I did good I only got 10 points off my road test I'm excited thanks Norman. My little sister want to learn how to drive and I'm gonna send her to this driving school. This school also has good customer service. definitely will recommend this driving school to anyone. Background: I took my first driver's test three years ago after 10 lessons with another driving school. I scored more points than the Golden State Warriors (that is bad on your road test). I let it go for a few years. Recently, I have started ramping up my real estate business and needed to cut down on travel time (among other life needs). I decided it was time to get my license and a car, so I looked through reviews online and came to Norman. I signed up for the 15 class package and paid upfront. Overall, it was a great experience. Norman is an excellent driver, an excellent driving instructor, and a very nice guy. He taught me the mechanics of driving, rules of the road, how the test would run, and built up my confidence, which is key. A lot of times you know how to drive, but the nerves you have make you mess up more than you would in normal circumstances and, therefore, you wind up failing the test. Norman protects you from that issue by building your confidence and providing you with the skills and knowledge you need to drive and succeed on the test. I felt so good about about my abilities that I took my test only after 12 lessons, despite having paid for 15 upfront. I passed my test and my wife and I are looking for a car right now. Not only did Norman congratulate me and thank me for being such a great student, he also scheduled me in for my last three classes so I could get more experience on the highway. I was seeking for affordable driving lessons and Norman beats the rest! Best economical deals hands down. I went to take my 5 hour and never saw a video. I sat through 4 hours of a lecture that was sprinkled with self promotion and self grander. He gave examples and questions to the most far fetched scenarios. That part was tolerable. Why I'm writing this 1 star and it should be 0 is because I from the beginning said I want all my driving lessons preferably back to back instead of spaced out due to limited time. They agreed and I paid for 1/2 of the package. I however was able to find a school that had availability back to back so I wanted to get my refund.  This man was blabbering off about how everyplace is the same and how he can hook me up tomorrow with a class. However his tone and words weren't of a customer service who is happily ready to help and understand he was making it sound as if he was tired of me and all I wanted was my money back.I called him and he told me how I was being rude during the 5 hour and that I have to wait a week for my refund.  I told him I wouldn't be able to wait went in person and spoke to his daughter who gave me attitude and told my boyfriend to shut up. He insisted on having me wait finally he came and gave me back the money and still approaching me with " let me ask you a question" he's a narcissist who needs the last words and has no regards for perfessionalism and customer service. Updated review after I took my road test. 5 hour class: very interactive and make sure you get the information. Would recommend!I took 10 lessons from Norman and was able to go from never driven before to pass my road test on the first attempt!! Don't think i would have done this without Norman. He is a super relaxed and helpful instructor. You get your hands on the wheel the minute your lessons start and he will give you instructions but also let you learn from your own mistakes. I always thought that parallel parking is super difficult but Norman made is seem like a breeze and even my road test examiner was impressed by how nice my parking was :) Scheduling is very easy and flexible, but do expect some cancellations and changes as Norman is trying to accommodate everyone. He also tends to run late so just FYI. Also, compared to bigger driving schools, you get him as your instructor for the whole time so it is really nice to have uniformed instructors as to how to drive. I can definitely sense the difference when Norman is training other instructors and have them direct me- sometimes get me confused because everyone has their own style of driving and might be different from what you have learned in the past. Hopefully, they will continue to pair a student consistently with one instructor as Norman expends his business. TL,DR: Norman is awesome and you will learn how to drive from him. Read Less

I sign up for the 10 lesson package.I came from a previous school but needed more practice and someone more committed to his work.  Norman is very professional and he will quickly notice where you need practice and will give you plenty of advice on how to pass the road test. He will accommodate your schedule, his staff is very professional and have great packages at a good price. He will also give you a mock test and this will definitely helps you to succeed on your road test. He speaks Spanish and that's plus! years ago I attended a driving school that traumatized me from driving. 12 years later I decided to give it another shot. After hearing about the reviews from Norman's school I decided to make the decision to try again and use his school. I'm so glad I did. Norman and his team are incredible. The girls in the office are so sweet! Norman is so patient and makes sure you get it. His teaching skill are superb showing you different ways and really breaking things down so you just get it. And Kimberly is the sweetest girl and so helpful. On the day of my road test his team made sure I was calm and confident and I passed my road test on the first try. Something most people don't do. Why settle for less when you can have the BEST.  I have never driven in my life and at the age of 60 thought it might be a good time.  I read tons of reviews of driving schools in the Bronx and decided to go with Norman.  I must say I made the right decision.  Norman is patient, kind and a perfect gentlemen.  He pulls up to your house, gets out of his car, extends his hand to you.  He is calm, cool and collective.  Never gets angry, never ever yells and is totally in the business of teaching people how to drive. Norman was the best driving instructor I ever had I took my 5 hour class with him as well as some road lessons, I have learned so much from safety to the rights and wrongs with the rules of driving on the road. Norman and his staff helped me out with every step along the way and they were very patient. I used to waste money and time on other driving schools and not learn anything but Norman made sure I was prepared for anything to come and spending the money was well worth it. With all the help from Norman and his staff I am now a licensed driver. FOR THE 5 HOUR Certification Course ONLYNorman and Staff : 5 stars HE IS THE BEST PERSON TO TAKE THIS CLASS WITH!!!!!!! hands down left and right.  He gives 2 breaks, he is entertaining, pleasant and very upbeat.  It honestly did not feel like 5 hours, he made it painless and fly by very quickly!!!!! I am based off this experience going to be taking the defensive driver course with him!  He is a great teacher and his staff (which are family) are so sweet and nice. Note: If you are like me and do not like the heat bc u are not  of tropical decent, wear very light clothing, despite having AC it was very humid in the room.  I don't wear a coat in the winter so I am not a fan of the heat.  He did have ac and did keep turning it on for me but had to turn it off bc of white noise.The bathroom is clean (for those who care about that) , and there is a water fountain station to get water from. I WILL 100% recommend him to anyone who needs this or defensive driving because he is a good teacher!!!!you but you need to bring your learners permit with you to the class FYII bought driving lessons from him based on his classroom demeanor and how professional he was. Norman is a great driving instructor and will guarantee that you pass your road test on the first try. He is calm and collected, funny, and very personable. He has great techniques and if you commit them to memory, you will have no trouble completing your tasks on the test. I learned everything I needed to know for the test in just 5 lessons. If you want to learn to drive and pass your test the first time, Norman is the driving school to go to.  I brought my 17-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son to Norman because of his passing rate for first-time new drivers is super high.  His demeanor is excellent, he is safe and amusing.  We can from Manhattan to take lessons from Norman.  It's really easy to take the train.  I came to Norman by trying all of the NY schools first.  What I got  from the NYC schools, was arrogant, totally booked, non-commital to the same instructor and filled 5-hour classes.  Who needed the Manhattan attitude from a diving school which is what made me look for something better which I found in The Bronx with Normal.  From my first experience with Norman's Driving School, I knew that it was worth the trip. Today my daughter was scheduled to take the road test.  When we got to Norman, she forgot some of her paperwork.  It was nearly impossible to get back to Manhattan and then back to New Rochelle in 45 minutes.  I had a bit of a meltdown through which Norman was totally calm.  He got the examiner to see my daughter after her appointment, kept me calm and even talked me through alternate directions to get there with less traffic.  MY DAUGHTER PASSED, as did Norman's previous student.  My son is a year younger and already on his 3rd lesson with Norman.  He will be the next success story.
