Worst place ever, avoid this place at all cost. Receptionist rude, owner rude. How you going to tell me I took my day off work because you guys cannot do your job and be organize you all desorganize, they call me a month in advance and you tell me my road test is on the 3rd to come in and this woman tells me my road test is the 4th! How you play with people’s time like this. I hope nobody come here I will make sure nobody come here. The only reason I’m coming back to do my test is because I pay for you stupid package I will never recommend this place to nobody. I will make sure you reputation gets know! If you want try them I guarantee you that you will forever regret this desicion!.. you think you can play with people’s money and time and be ok about it! Last time they wanted to charge me cancelation fees when they just made an appoiment for my road test without consulting which day would work for me. I’m over this place and don’t be fool by those “good” reviews I can guarantee they fake just see the bad ones and we can all agree that this is a foolery.. Let me answer to your comment: Let me laugh at “ I scream and yelled at his staff” I never did that there was ppl there that are my witness. I stayed quiet and left. There is a God yo there and you’ll see that sometime winning is not everything and I see you are so wrapped in the whole situation that you are right, remember I’m a paying customer. Imagine you paying for a steak and getting boil eggs? Are you gonna get mad that you didn’t get what you paid for? your weren’t there I never cursed at your staff all I did was is my right as a customer which is to complain when you not happy .Colwells that’s great you have recording your manager should of brought that up when I was speaking to her or tell me that she will speak to the receptionist instead of brushing me off like “oh well” If your staff would of address this issue right there and then we won’t be in this situation! Now you have recording now you want to look into the matter? We in 2018 there are a lot more driving school with better ethics and customer service skills remember that! I’m not asking for a favor I’m asking for a service which I did not received! This is America! You guys thought that I dint have a voice so your staff let me walk out knowing that I wasn’t happy. You left me a message telling me that I was rude? I’m rude for voicing my opinion for letting ppl know of your overall customer service? How is that rude? when all I want to do is help other people so they don’t have to deal with this type of situation like I did , I should of listened to those bad reviews. I feel like is my fault I’m in this situation. Please avoid this place at all cost . You don’t have to deal with this type of service! Yes this is a real situation!!!! This is a real comment and this is the thruth you are unprofessional driving school and I have those bad review under that will confirm my experience all the bad experience are related to customer service! So even if I wrong at this point you not helping your case Colwell’s. There not a drop of lie in what I’m writing and you’ll see that if you continue with this practice is gonna cost you a lot of customer! You know the funny part is that I had ppl asking me about this school meaning that if I did had a good experience you would of gain more customers but you not and you’ll see that you will either have to change your whole staff and sensitize them and show them how to treat customers. I’m just saying you want to have a headeach and deal with rude ppl this is your school! You will lose more than me just know that because now people are seeing how you address unhappy customers.. My review is not so much about the school as it is my instructor with whom i took my lessons. I was coming over from another driving school, where i did not learn a thing about the hand-over-hand motion with which to turn the wheels or even how best to approach a stop sign where a standalone STOP sign would require you stop twice and once at an All Way stop sign. Anyway, my instructor was Carmen, she was very patient and really helped me get better at my driving. She knows which school i was at first and they are nowhere near as good as the lessons she taught me. I unfortunately wasn't able to get my last road test with her as they didn't have any available space to fit me in before January ended (needed to get that D.L before Feb. begun) so i had to use a different school for my test which i passed using the stuff she taught me. If you want a patient instructor who humanizes the fact that you're taking the lessons because you dont know how or what you should do on the roads, Colwell's is a good place to start and look up Carmen too. I have postponed this process for nearly 20 years for the simple reason of agonizing over the horror stories I had been told about the DMV road test process.I decided to go to Cowell's because they offered flex scheduling and packages with car. From Start to Finish this was an easy, helpful and smooth process. The polite staff were super helpful and organized. My instructor Carmen was calm, easy to understand and on time for each lesson. I sat in on the 5 hour class with Chris who was entertaining and had many helpful tips. I decided to come to this driving school to do my five hour class. I had a very good experience so good that I came back two more times to redo my five hour class. Each time I came I had the same instructor, Chris. He is very knowledgeable. He always has a great sense of humor which made the go by faster. He's very friendly and helpful. He answers all questions with a smile and he gives great tips and advice. Each time I came they provided a nice variety of snacks and beverages. The classroom and bathroom is clean. I had the five hour class here in March. No appointment was needed and they offered the best prices in the area. It was entertaining, informative, and straight to the point and Paul answered all of our questions and concerns about the road test. My friend went here and she had got her license. So I decided to give it a try. I received the 10 package deal and my instructor name is Chris and he is great very patient with me in talked with me so I'm not so nervous. He always called me if he was gonna be a little early so I never had a problem with pick up or drop off. I was able to learn to drive by my 5th lesson I mean park in all but I'm gonna continue to take the rest of my lesson cause I wanna make sure I know everything. My road test will be in June so I just wanna be prepared.so yes I will recommend anyone to come to this school. Even tho I already sent some friends. Plus they prices are better then the rest. I've seen the cars for this driving school in my area and thought I'd make this the year I take some refresher courses and finally get a car. The first lesson I took was with Chris and it was good. (We just did the basics... left turns down this street... right turns down this street... parallel park here... etc.) I still have a way to go before I can get as confident as I once were, but I'm positive Colwell's Driving School will get me there again one class at a time! I am taking 5 lessons and I took their 5 hour class here. My instructor is good and creates conversation. I wish he was more critical of my driving, or compare my driving to how the DMV tests. Also, on my first lesson I had to wait 15 minutes for the instructor because of some discrepancy with the school (why I took a star off). The 5-hour class went well. Get there an hour before and pay in cash! The class was shorter than 5 hours. I went on a Saturday and the teacher was Paul. He spoke in a way where you would not fall asleep and he went the extra mile. He was entertaining. They did teach me how to drive but not good enough for me to pass the test. My instructor, Paul, did not teach me how to park the right way. He had me put my right hand behind the passenger seat. That screwed me over in my road test. Because I was used to parking like that, I forgot to keep both hands on the steering wheel while parking. Both hands MUST be on the wheel while the vehicle is in motion at ALL times. I'm not saying he was a horrible teacher but he didn't prepare me well for the road test. I recommend looking for another driving school. I heard from other people about their driving schools how they taught them things and prepared them well for the road test. Those are the kind of schools you want to go to. Not every place is perfect but you can find better. Currently looking at fuzion driving school in Brooklyn.EDIT: Sorry Colwell's Driving School but you need to hire some new secretary and some new instructors. Half the time my instructor was on the phone. Told me my errors but didn't tell me how to fix them. I know this isn't a good driving school because I found another school that does 1 hour lessons and the first lesson is one hour and 30 minutes(first half hour is free which he spends explaining to you about driving IN DETAIL). He corrects me on my errors and SHOWS me how to correct them. He even put me on a highway. I still can't understand how a driving instructor tells you to take your hand off the steering wheel when parking. i don't know if that's how all instructors from Colwell's Driving School teach but the one that I had taught me that. When you're doing your road test, your examiner wants to see your hands in the 2:00 and 10:00 positions.The only time your hand should come off is when your switching gears. When I told my father that my instructor taught me to park the park with one hand off the steering wheel, he was shocked. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to come here and I definitely would never step foot back in there. Even on the day of my road test the instructor hardly gave me advice for the road test. When I compare this driving school to the one that I currently go to now, I can't understand how this place is doing business. I'm sorry but this so called driving school should be closed down. I hardly write bad reviews but this is how bad I'm upset and disgusted with the way this school is. You're supposed to represent the place you work for. Being on your damn phones half the time is not the way to go. I really hope you people from Colwell's Driving School read this and learn something from it. Read Less

This is the type of business that exceeds due solely to location, and the convenience potential customers think they're going to get.I signed up for a 10-lesson package, and have had most of my lessons rescheduled due to someone scheduling me at the same time as another student, or someone in the office not knowing my instructor's availability. I've waited outside multiple times to see the Colwell car pull up, only for it not to show.If you can, avoid this place, and make the extra trip to another driving school.
