One of the Best driving schools ever. All of the coaches really care and try to help you to the best of their abilities. Before i went to this school, I had only driven a couple of times and didn't really know a whole lot about driving. But after I was finished with this school, I can parallel park blindfolded if i wanted to. I am happy that I decided to take this driving school instead of another one. This is the best driving school in all of New Mexico without a doubt. The driving instructors put in all of their time to better their customers and student drivers. Coach Al, Eddie (Ernie), and Gary are very patient with the students and are constantly changing their schedules to get driving time for them. We drove all over the city. We were picked up at our school on days that we drove. We drove nearly an hour on those days and we got to pick the place we wanted to eat. The coaches actually cared about giving us the skills, confidence and information required to drive safely and defensively. We also went to the parking lot and did forwards and backwards parking and parallel parking. Even in the classroom (the parts that are thought of to be the most boring) the coaches made it as fun and interesting as they could. Overall, it was one of the most enjoyable three weeks of my life. I was so impressed with Coach Al and his instructors. I sent my older child to another well known driving school in Albuquerque a couple of years ago and it was such a hassle trying to get in his driving hours and they charged extra for every test. Coach Al's school was amazing. They made sure to get all the kids their driving hours, going so far as picking them up from school and bringing them home after class. I am late life adult learner, having come from the east coast (NY metro area) it wasn't necessary for me to know how to drive. Upon retiring to Albuquerque I quickly realized how having a driver's license would be much more convenient than being dependent upon the public transit system. Compared to the NYC, ABQ's transportation system (alas buses only) is rather limited in terms of wait time, and complete closure during major holidays!My Experience of Coach Al's Driving School LLC:It was interesting being the oldest student (4 times older) in a roomful of teenagers. On the plus side, It wasn't absolutely necessary for me to attend every single one of the 12 evening classes.  Coach Al let me know in advance which classes were imperative.I was initially intimidated by the thought of driving a truck as I only had experienced driving a small car (over 35 years ago!).  I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I acclimated to the vehicle's size and loved the improved vantage point of a higher driver's position.The key to seeing improvement is to practice outside of class. Coach Al and associates don't have "driving fairy dust" to make the student a better driver.  Throughout the span of 3 week course, I practiced with my spouse in 10-15 minute increments in my neighborhood. IN A NUTSHELLPROS: * Much to my surprise, we started behind the wheel driving the very first evening!* I had some highway driving practice in addition to city (congested central ave included).* At one of my (private) sessions, I got to choose what skills I wanted to work which speaks to Coach Al's willingness to tailor the lesson to my specific needs.* The instructors are calm and give criticism in a professionally appropriate manner to both young teens and adults.* The instructors were able to instill confidence in even the most nervous students!* The instructors are VERY safety conscious and seek to impart that attitude to all students.* The vehicles are very clean late model Toyota Tacomas. * The instructor/front passenger seat is equipped with a brake (just in case).* Unlike the school-age students, the flexibility of my schedule allowed for me to get my behind-the-wheel practice in a private or semi-private lesson format. The undivided attention was much appreciated!* The price of the 3 week course is quite reasonable. From what I understand, there are referral discounts. * Your Road Test can be scheduled with one of the instructors from the school in their vehicle. Yup, the same Tacoma's you learn in (a plus). Student's of the course get a special Road Test price.CONS:* None really except I was the exception to the norm by being over 60 years old. Teens can be very chatty in class and in the car, which was a good way for me to practice staying focused. * At the beginning, it wasn't always clear to me what my next steps should be in attaining a driver's license. In all fairness, the official state Driver's Manual assumes the new driver is a teenager.  After the age of 18, slightly different steps are necessary. I don't have to wait for the provisional phase of the 3-tiered licensing system. In other words, I can go for an unrestricted driver's license ASAP!I highly recommend Coach Al's Driving School! My son just finished with Coach Al and I can't say enough nice things about them.  The teachers are very personable.  My son needed some extra driving experience before Coach Al thought he was ready for the road so he let us work with our son until we felt he was ready and then Coach Al took him out again.  I would definitely send any of my other kids to his school. Coach Al's - as a student - probably the best driving school thats out there. They know how to connect with teens and they have great quality education, they have a unique way of teaching. Can't thank Coach Al enough. My daughter finished Coach Al's class about 5 months ago and I just didn't feel like she was comfortable behind the wheel. I called up Coach Al and got more driving time for her, I even tagged along. She was a completely different driver with him. His calm coaching style gave her the extra confidence she needed and it put me at ease in the back seat. I firmly believe parents should do a ride along during one of the driving sessions, it will help you become the coach your child needs instead of the protective parent that makes them nervous. I had just moved from out of state and my daughter had to get her license and Coach Al made sure we were taken care of and we got everything we needed to get her license. The price was very affordable and reasonable, and the in classroom experience was the best, she learned a lot and passed her test with ease. Oh my goodness. Al is the best: driving teacher and conversationalist. I'm new to town and was freaking out about driving here  in ABQ (I'm a really new driver - got my license 4 months ago), so I took a bunch of lessons with Al. It was seriously the best investment I could have made in my safety and my peace of mind. He pointed out things to look out for with my driving, but made me feel totally calm behind the wheel. I was a student at Coach Al's Driving School to get my permit and learn the rules of the road and how be a safe defensive driver. Coach Al Guadagnoli and Coach Eddie Torres did just that. They explained it all in crystal clear detail and made it fun to learn it and not just another rule to follow. They showed me how to parallel park, park drivers side and passenger side and also the pivot points of a vehicle. They even also  showed me driving isnt that scary and that anyone can be a defensive safe driver no matter who you are. Also I was showed the  real life fact of what DWI does to the community. It doesn't just hurt you it hurts everyone and may hurt your loved one. I highly recommend Coach Al's Driving School for all who want to learn safe driving and how to be a better driver. He even goes the extra mile to help his kids even outside the classroom. The price is so affordable and you get world class service too. His wife Kay the office administrative assistant is truly amazing and does so much to support the community of new drivers and clients. Cynthia from the Traffic Safety Division was also really friendly and cool she worked well with me and showed me fun ways to remember the rules of the road.
