The only reason I chose to practice my driving with this school was because my mother practiced here and she referred me to one of the driving instructors Claira who is pretty good. Her car that she comes to pick me up and drive in is easy and great for me! And she's not that bad at teaching me either! But every thing else about this school needs some major improvements. Such as calling me whenever the instructor is going to be late, or whenever the instructor cancels an appointment instead of having me waiting at home for an hour waiting for a call to having me call them to ask what happened! But 1 tip I have to give those who are just starting is to find a driver you like an stay with them until you are done with your road test!!! Read Less

He gives your progress straight and makes sure you know the simple yet powerful tips that will get you that license as soon as possible. If you plan on practicing with this school, then I recommend you practice with Luis! He is honestly the best. I first took my road test in Lodi(easy course) and surprisingly failed. My 2nd time was in Newark, which is harder to pass in. Lots of people don't like coming to Newark because of how hard it is, but with Luis it's possible! He teaches you all the tips and tricks and actually guides you the Newark course before taking your test. All these reviews about Luis are true, this guy really is the best. Read Less

Ideal Driving School helped me out a lot but the main guy you have to learn from is Luis. He helped me out so much and taught me everything I know. I drove with him three times and today was my last day with him. Thanks to him I have my driver's license. I didn't leave him a review until now because I didn't want a discount. Horrible got a ticket with the instructor telling me to stop on a bus stop to pick up a student they charge me still and didn't back me up in nothing went to court and everything everyone there is not knowledgeable I hope they get shut down Alicia is a liar never returns calls and so call never there shes quick to charge but have horrible instructors that be on their phone for personal business just horrible run don't waste your time ! I would give 0 stars if I could. They were supposed to pick me up at 10 but the instructor didn't show up at all. I called and the guy was very rude to me saying that I did not confirm (when I actually called in Saturday to confirm). At the end he hung up on me and won't pick up the phone anymore..very very poor people Read Less

WORST DRIVING SCHOOL EVER. Paid $150 to get a 2 hour lesson before my test and to use their car. The woman does not know how to speak proper English. She was doing her makeup while I was practicing and started eating a sandwich obnoxiously. Because of that, I lost my concentration. I failed my road test BECAUSE OF HER. She did not even take me to make my new appointment. We went to pick up another girl and she said can someone pick you up from here and I said no. She got all mad and made a face. I paid $150 for a 2 hour lesson and to be picked up and dropped off home. This is nonsense. I will fight for my money back. DO NOT GO TO THIS DRIVING SCHOOL, I REPEAT DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS UNPROFESSIONAL SCHOOL!!!!!!!!! Read Less

This school is the worst school out there! Don't waste your money. Other schools may be more expensive but it's worth it. The people at the front desk are incapable of making appointments or handle questions. The Mgr/owner, Alicia, never returns phone calls. She avoids and doesn't acknowledge any issues. Each instructor teaches differently and there's a language barrier that comes into play. There are too many issues to write. It's the blind leading the blind here. The office is run very poorly. Every time you call, you have to call back in 10 minutes. I called to make a reservation for Ideal to take my son to take his test and it was never written down. Luckily I called back and was able to get it in. Today, my son takes his test and in no way, shape, or form was I advised if the child wanted to stay to get his license, the school would not wait for him. I don't discount that my son should have called me, but I feel the SCHOOL should take responsibility for not communicating their process and limitations. Why would I think that it is not a full service? The manager was, Jamie, was very rude. He would ask me questions, only to interrupt me and say I didn't let him talk. He said it was my son's fault for not calling me, but as a business, shouldn't you disclose what you can and can't do. Would you just leave the responsibility on the CHILD and not the paying adult? Far from ideal!I took a one hour lesson for stick shift driving and didn't get my money's worth of instruction. The instructor is very hands-off and does not bother to help you learn from your mistakes. Luckily, I did a lot of prior research on driving manual transmission by reading about and watching YouTube videos, so I was able to use the hour as time behind the wheel. However, if you are completely clueless on the mechanics, the instructor will not do much for you. If you stall, he'll grunt and mutter something about not giving it enough gas, but not explain step by step what to do or not do. After about a half hour, he had me stop by the office to pick up his phone for an important call that he was expecting. He took his sweet time getting his phone and wasted my time. It ended up that he just wanted to chat, text, and generally mess around on his phone. Read Less

Not a professional school by any means. My instructor was late by 35 minutes. I received absolutely no calls the day before to either confirm or cancel my appointment for the next day. The only call I received was at 2 pm ( the time my appointment was scheduled for) informing me that they are running late 15-20 mins  (took much longer than that) . Then, a second call to inform me that they are gonna be late an additional 5 minutes, the instructor tells me to wait for him outside in the meantime- why would I wait outside for you in heat when you are the one who is not on time. Needless to say I did not wait for him outside. He finally arrived and to say there was a language barrier would be an understatement. And of course with the language barrier, his directions were very confusing and unclear. Then he began to complain about how he is overworked by the company and isn't properly compensated and how he hadn't had lunch the whole day. On my way back home he had to go to the main office so I double parked in front of the office for around 10 minutes- just sitting there. Again this was time out of my 2 hour lesson when he should instead take care of his affairs dying his own personal time and not at the expense of others. What a waste of $65-never again! Read Less

The owner is more detailed in teaching drivers but other instructors are not as attentive or insightful or experienced at all. The one star is for him, if you able to schedule him as an instructor instead of the new ones. One instructor had only gotten his license 3 mo. ago. Upon taking my CDL exam for school bus I did not pass because I was never informed by instructor certain procedures by my instructor!  Also many times during practice I was the only one on the bus while the instructors socialized. I was not the only many other students from this school did not pass their trucking licenses either!Getting all the hours of instruction you paid for is also extremely difficult once you have already paid. Speaking with the office assistant was not pleasant as she was not willing to schedule my final hour of instruction explaining that I had none left although I had a whole hour left! She kinda brushed me off and said they were too busy to schedule. Read Less

CLIFTON LOCATION ON MAIN..The gentlemen is very nice but failed to explain to my son the policy if you PREPAY and make an appointment, if an emergency or something happens you LOSE your money. My son was promised 3 sessions, but we had to PAY for the third one. I think this is BAD business. At least they could have gave an HOUR out of the 2 hours we already paid for! Just a 2. Based on my experience read U might understand why. (she = "teacher")First day of class she arrive 5 minutes late we talk some minutes and then she guide to drive Kennedy blv. I ask where we going (to have an idea in my mind what path to take) she said no. We drive to a house she say stop shes going to her house to pee, I wait there... then we go back to practice park in hoboken, then home. I calculate around 25 or more minutes wasted in her talking and peeing...Second class she come 15 minutes late with another student driving, she say to drive to the school office to drop him. when we arrive she say park the car lets go in the office so u make a 3rd appointment. when the secretary finish with the other before me we talked when could it be the date but i was busy the days available I said I'll call next week, then I turn to the "teacher" and said this 25 minutes don't count in my 2 hours right? she said of course shes teaching me how to make an appointment.............. really... well she told me drive into route 3 and go to a town to drop some Avons products and chat with her client. when we come back she say get under the tunnel heading to Lincoln tunnel, at 5 pm eve I know there is traffic, well we spent 30 minutes jammed moving a inch per inch.
