I had a great experience with Maxwell's Driving School. They were recommended by a friend whose daughter had Mark as an instructor. We went to the office, had his free eye exam and they provided a validated permit at the end of his 6 hours. My son learned highway driving, rural driving and drove in local areas.  He learned defensive driving skills, parallel parking and K-Turns. I think the experience was very comprehensive and a great value. He passed his drivers test. I will definitely use them again. Read Less

I passed my road test today. Thanks to my instructor Mark. He is an awesome instructor. Wouldn't want anyone else to have taught me. He shows you the right way to do things. If you mess up he'll talk you through it and show you what to do to get yourself out of the mistake. If you park too far from the curb. He'll show you how to fix it and vice versa. Thanks to Mark I'm finally a licensed driving. Who would've thought after all these years of waiting that I would be. Thanks again for all your help Mark. Read Less

I took my driving test today in Cherry Hill:The driving instructor gave me very useful tips! I signed up for the 1 hour brush-up lesson, and borrowed the car for my road test. I failed my test the first time, but I passed it the second time ALL BECAUSE  OF MAXWELL'S DRIVING SCHOOL. There are tiny little mirrors in the side view mirrors, which help greatly when it comes to parallel parking. Not only that, but the instructor gave me very clear instructions on how to perfectly align the car parallel to the curb, without hitting the curb or the cones. I had no idea at all how to do a K-turn, and he told me exactly how to; I had no trouble at all when the road test officer told me to k-turn out of the parking space that I parallel parked into. Plus, the instructor pointed out to me that I turned too early when it came to left turns, and I completely fixed my errors. All in all, I failed my test the first time, and the second time WITH THE HELP OF MAXWELL'S DRIVING SCHOOL, I got a 100%. Thank you instructor! PS: The instructor showed me different diagrams that show tips to drive safer. Read Less

Maxwell's has taught three of my children to drive. I have been very satisfied. They were taught defensive driving techniques such as scanning which I would not have thought of teaching them. With two of my children, they were driving on the interstate during the first two hours.Besides the 6 hours of training, I had Maxwell's take my children to the road test when they turned 17. The primary reason was that I did not have an appropriate car. They all passed the first time. However they did tell me that Maxwell's instructors told them several things that them needed to watch out or do during the test that they initially did incorrectly. As a result they got no negative comments on the yellow sheet that the state's Cherry Hill inspectors give them afterwards. I believe that is considered as passing the road test with an 100%.I noted couchlady's review. While the cost has got up slightly since my first child, I was charged $325, not $360, recently for 6 hours when my last child got her permit at 16. While Ken was not my children's instructor, Steve was very responsive to a mistake that was made. One child missed the scheduled road test. When that happened Steve did not give me any excuses, and immediately offered to not charge us for the next time we scheduled a road test . That saved us $105.I am sorry that conchlady had a bad experience. We and our children's friends were very pleased with Maxwell's Read Less

BEWARE!! I found Maxwell's on the internet. It seemed convenient enough...you go there and my daughter was able to take the eye test in their office. I was told day 1 would be an overview of general driving instruction, day 2 would be K-turns, parallel parking, navigating circles and any specialized skills, day 3 would be an review of all driving skills ending with a trip around the testing course and more parallel parking practice at the testing center. Here is what really happened....Day 1...very elderly (very strange) gentleman picks her up at the house. He did not come to the door, just sat out front until we finally went out. He puts her in the car and they drive away. She had never been behind the wheel before so it was all new to her. She drove around the neighborhood and another close neighborhood nearby.Day 2...He shows up with another young girl driving. My daughter's job is to drive her home to a town about 5 miles away. Then she drives around a little. The instructor kept asking her "you don't want to go on this road, do you?" It made her think that she should just say "no" because he scared her into thinking it was a danger or something. He told her he couldn't take her on any roads that she didn't agree to. Let me just say, not many kids know what road is what road by the numbers, ex..route 295, 42, etc. So then she has to drive to another town 25 minutes away to pick up the next student. Then that student drove her home. I wish I had known that unskilled people would be driving her around because I don't like that idea at all. I dont like the idea of my daughter driving any other kids either. NO SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTIONS TOOK PLACE ON THIS DAY!Day 3-again a young girl drove to our house and my daughter had to drive her home. She drove around a little and then he took her on Route 295. She was doing 65 mph and the elderly instructor 'twitched' or something and hit the gear shift and shifted the car into LOW!!!! My daughter thought she was going to die. He says "oh that was clumsy of me". She was able to compose herself as she again drove 25 minutes to pick up the next student. Then that student drove her home. THERE WAS NO REVIEW OF THE TESTING COURSE OR PARKING OR ANYTHING!!! The instructor didn't even come to the door and tell us how she did or what she needed to practice....NOTHING!!!So all in all, we paid $360.00 and my daughter didn't even know what a K-turn was when she finished. There was no parking instruction of any kind. She was never even taught how to hold the wheel when turning. All he told her was "don't lock your arms". Her driving was literally a danger after these lessons. We had to spend many hours driving in our neighborhood before allowing her to go out on the highways.I called Maxwell's and informed them. They acted shocked. Steve told me that Ken the instructor had been with him for many years and NEVER had any complaints. I told him that I wanted at least a partial refund considering I didn't get what I paid for at all. It was all lies. He got nasty and told me he needed to speak to the instructor and would get back to me. He NEVER did. BEWARE!!!! You will NOT get anything that is advertised except the free eye exam. Read Less

We researched other schools and contacted Maxwell's due to a strong recommendation from friends. Maxwell's is deadicated to providing value for your money. While Maxwell could charge for the vision exam that the do in their office, it is free. This makes signing up for the six hours of behind the wheel driving pleasant. Unlike some other driving schools, getting the permit was done before any 6 hours time behind the wheel is started. The hour of effort that is required for Maxwell to get the behind the wheel driving permit for students younger than 17 was done before the driving instructor picked up my child. We had a choice of three two hour session or two three hour sessions. Unlike some other schools we were able to schedule completion of the six hours within a short time period. The instructor was interested in teaching skills that would be valuable in emergencies and not just being able to pass the New Jersey DMV driving test. He pointed out out several habits that needed to be developed to increase the ability of my child to respond to an emergency and probably avoid an accident. He had developed a notebook with a lot of drawings that helped my child greatly. The instructor exposed our child to heavy traffic, and taught techniques for safe merging into other lanes and onto the interstate that were not taught in my child's driving course in school. My child found the application of physics very enlighting in how to adjust the car's speed when the road conditions changed and the effect of ignoring the laws of physics. My child's friends told him that parallel parking was going to be very difficult. The instructor has drawings which described parallel parking and how to correct for various problems. He showed my child a procedure that allowed him to parrallel park easily. The instructor also provided us with a summary of what he taught and what we could do to continue building our child's driving skills. Read Less

Read Less
