The “teaching” couldn’t be any more useless. Another CDL mill.

Let me start this review by saying that my experience at this school overall was a positive one. That being said though I feel there were some major pros and also some major cons to consider. I'll start with the cons. Con #1, Trainers have no set schedule for training meaning you may have to be your own advocate when it comes to learning things like backing skills. Con #2, There seems to be a lack of organization and communication between trainers. An example of this would be several times during training our instructor took a day off and handed us over to a different instructor who had no idea what we had already worked on and so therefore those days felt like wasted time. Con #3, 4 students per instructor 3 trucks to train on. This is standard procedure for most schools but I thought I'd touch on it real quick, the bigger your group, the less time behind the wheel you'll have and if one student is not catching on you may suffer for it.Now for the pros. Pro #1, the admissions reps have an open for policy and are there to speak about any concerns you may have and will address those concerns immediately. Pro #2, the instructors are awesome people with plenty of knowledge to get you through the program successfully. Pro #3, on site testers. Again this is kind of a standard throughout the industry but it is still worth mentioning as it takes a ton of pressure off of you to be able to be tested in a familiar place around familiar people.Overall I would say give them a call, and take a tour of the facility, compared to some other schools which cost far and above more than this program I think you are definitely getting a better bang for your buck. Good luck future drivers see ya on the road! Read Less

They were pretty good when I signed up, very nice you dont have to deal with DMV testing but make sure you can FOR SURE make it the day your scheduled when you make that deposit. Unfortunately my job and financial situation didnt work out as planned so I requested a refund on my deposit and its been over a month and they are keeping $100 of it just to put a date in the computer. I am giving a fair review because the admissions guy that took care of me offered some very great alternative options that unfortunately didnt work for me but the refund process has really been difficult and lengthy. I am still considering testing through them before my permit expires and will edit my review if my experience changes. Read Less

SW Truck Driver Training helped me obtain my class A CDL a lot. The instructors are knowledgeable, and they demonstrate excellent skills in driving semi trucks.

Heard about this school by a close friend of mine. I'm glad that I listened to him. Southwest teaches you everything that you need in getting your CDL. They assisted me with getting a state grant from start to finish. When I was approved, they enrolled me into a class right away. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Instructors are very informative and well experienced. Classrooms and entire lot are clean. They have visual aids to help understand what's going on in a truck/tractor. I'm in the middle of getting my class A CDL with a couple of endorsement and will be coming back again to get more endorsements. Read Less

Southwest truck driving training is a good place to learn.  The people who work in the office, and the instructors are good people who want you to succeed.  This is not a diploma mill.  When you get finished with this school, you will be able to drive a semi truck with a 53 foot trailer.  You will be able to back up, do your logs, drop and hook trailers.  The facilities are the only bad part.  The building is suffering from age and neglect. But the training they give you inside is priceless.  I just finished the school yesterday.  I can start work as a truck driver next week.  Companies that hire know they get a quality student from Southwest and that helps you get the job.
