This is the best school by far. If you want to get your CDL and small class sizes this is the school for you.... I just graduated with my CDL, and if you want a school where the people are great and really care about the students this is the right school for you. At the end of the day, if you choose Apex over Gear Monkey then you will wast your money. If you are smart and want to really know how to drive truck and get your CDL Gear Monkey is the right place.... take my word for this.. Read Less

I am currently taking CDL training here. Not only are Butch and Christi fabulous people who conduct themselves in the most professional way possible but the level of training presented here is truly "World Class". Many recruiters for trucking companies have already visited us as well; showing us their trucks and the level of comfort of their rigs with the latest technology. Having a recruiter face to face to explain what they offer and to answer questions was in valuable experience. Additionally Butch and Christi have chosen professional instructors in John and Richard. These guys ensure that you are well prepared for your pre-trip inspection; including all of the specific wording, straight backing, backwards off-set maneuvers including 90 degree back up. Trainees have enough time without pressure with these guys where you are comfortable doing these maneuvers in there rather large truck driving training area; prior to hwy and city driving. We utilized a rest area just across the Missouri Kansas state line in Kansas to learn how not to roll backwards on hills, furthermore, we learned how to drive around the rest area shifting gears from the 5 low gears up to the high 7th gear and learning the amount of pedal pressure for the air brakes to get the truck slowing down vice locking the air brakes up. After the rest area training we went out on the highways. Invaluable points of training all along the way. I'd recommend not wasting you money by trying to get a different shorter class that's advertised else where less expensive; I'd definitely think your training all the way through. Gear Monkey is a proven training facility with awesome owners and instructors who truly desire for you to get your CDL and will do everything in their power to help you succeed. Best of luck to all my soon to be brothers and sisters out there in their driving careers. Read Less

John will teach you everythng you need to know and the best part is that he doesn't yell at you when you make mistakes. 4 people per class tops so you'll get more than enough time behind the wheel.. I attended and graduated from Gear Monkey CDL Truck Driving School a few weeks ago. I cannot express enough how pleasant my time spent with them was. I would like to share my experience. I had called around to the local schools trying to make a decision on which one I would attend to get my CDL class A license. Gear Monkey was by far the most available and genuine They were clear and concise from the beginning and seemed eager to help me accomplish this goal. I checked to see if they were certified with the Missouri Department of Higher Education. After confirming with them that they were, I decided to enroll. From day one they were kind, helpful and inviting. The environment was personal and the training was thorough. I was learning what to inspect the vehicle for and practicing straight backing a tractor trailer combination the first day. It was hands on and beneficial every day I showed up there. I highly recommend Gear Monkey CDL Truck Driving School. I went from novice or less experience in a manual transmission at all to safely and effectively maneuvering a manual tractor trailer combo (semi 18 wheeler) in all street/highway and docking/parking scenarios. All in a matter of weeks. Money very well spent, the owners/instructors are great people. If you're thinking about attended a school for CDL training anywhere in the KC metro area this is the place to go in my opinion and experience. Read Less

Great place to learn how to drive trucks. The instructor is really nice spend their time and full motivation to make sure you understand how to operator a commercial vehicle. They are not like big schools who will take your money and put you with 15 people to learn. You will enjoy your time behind the wheel and learn to drive safely, that's coming from my experience.
