Mohamed is a great instructor. He is blunt and very serious about his job. He would say as it is so you improve every minute you are in the car with him. He brings his knowledge as a former examiner with him, sk you get the first hand instructions. I passed my road test after having him sitting in the car with me just one afternoon. Mohamed was an amazing teacher of my driving! It is helpful that he always sticks to driving manual manual and very stringent on my driving, which turned out to be really helpful. And I was able to pass the driving exam for the first shot. Of course, my experience was not completely perfect. They are short of staff, and it was difficult for me to contact with them first of all. (I think something is wrong with their website.) Sometimes they was not able to pick me up on time. I picked Alamo Driving School based on its Yelp reviews. I didn't need too much tutoring, just a brief explanation of rules in MN and what to pay attention to during the road test. I give 1 star to their office staff and responsiveness and 5 star to my instructor, Connie. I bought my first class online and called them to schedule. They told me they'd call me back and no one did. I called the next day and got the same response, again no one called me. I went to their office 2 days later and they told me they were on holiday as a reason why nobody returned my calls. If I had been told that they'd be out of office and I had to wait a couple of days, that'd be fine. But they kept telling me they'd return my calls and never did. Similar thing happened with scheduling the road test as well. I called, either no one answered or I was told I will be called back. I had to send a nasty message to finally receive a call and get my test scheduled.On the other hand, my instructor Connie was awesome. She was encouraging and always explaining what to pay attention to during driving. On the exam site, she went over a couple of things we should be careful about. I got my license after the exam.In terms of learning how to drive, it's a good place, if you want to deal with the office staff. Read Less

NEVER GO TO THIS DRIVING SCHOOL!!!!! I paid online and tried to call them to schedule my class for three days but no one answered the phone. I left the message and still no one call me back. Then I contact my credit card company to get my money back. Almost a month later, they call me and complain about me! I took 4 classes with Alamo Driving School to prepare for my second try in the driving test. Aaron was the best driving teacher I ever had (and I had a few). I was quite nervous before starting the lessons as I already failed the first driving test (I trained with another school). Not only did Aaron explain every little details on how to drive safely and correctly, he was also very supportive and helped me become a confident driver. He has a great balance of strictness and fun in his teaching, which is awesome. I eventually passed the test, and I feel ready to take the road.I would recommend this school for everyone who wants to learn how to drive, and make sure to ask for Aaron as your teacher. Alamo Driving School is a fraud for sure. They took my money (they still owe me about 400$ ) and never returned my calls and didn't follow through with classes. When they did show up they were over 1 hour late and the owner is a huge jerk. He refused to acknowledge my grievances despite me showing up the office and having to cause a scene. It seems like other people have had this experience too but yelp "hid" the reviews. Not sure what that is all about. It is ridiculous that people are misinformed about the nightmare that is alamo. They will take your money and run, don't pay upfront and make sure you get everything in writing. Proceed with caution and honestly if I were you, I wouldn't proceed at all. Read Less

I had taken driving classes before in CA and I thought those were good- but I still failed the driving test. I was pretty nervous to start driving again, but took a chance with Alamo. Mohammed is awesome at figuring out how confident a driver is. He modifies his classes depending on your learning curve and is a perfectionist. He made me practice my parking (90 degree and parallel) over and over and over yet again until I felt confident maneuvering the car without guidance. The moment he feels that you are gaining confidence, he throws curve balls at you so that he can test how nervous you get on the road, and how you handle different situations. I took the 10 hour package w /road test and felt I gained a lot from each driving session with him. He is a good teacher and knows how to get through to his students. Read Less

First of all I would like to completely thank Mohammed for his tips and 100% commitment towards work. He is very patient/calm and supporting. I am not trained driver and had not driven earlier but with training from Alamo driving school I could clear my test at first attempt.Staff is very cordial and it was great to learn driving from this school. I had not driven a day in my life for 30+ years (and you would know how much harder it is to learn a new skill when you are older) until I came to this school. What sets this place apart from other schools is the hands-on approach from day 1 without any compromise on safety (self and others). It is a true example of learning by doing. My story: I'm a student at UFM Minneapolis and I had no experience driving and have never even touched a steering wheel until January 15, 2012 at Alamo Driving School. At first, I was skeptical because of the number of positive reviews, but after a few calls and email to their office, I was immediately attracted to their amazing customer service. Leeta, Mariam and Mohamed, who help answer phone calls, are extremely patient, open to questions, know everything you need about how to get your driver's license, and they go the extra mile to make sure your driving lessons are booked at a convenient time that fits your schedule best. I was worried that there would be no openings for lessons and be wasting time while they hold onto my money, however, Lana and Christina made sure I had my 3 lessons (2 hours each) booked in a 2 week period. My first 3 lessons were with Mohamed. He has more than 10 years of driving instruction experience, and is one of the owners of ALAMO Driving School. He made me feel calm even though I was nervous and felt like the car was in control, not me. I almost crashed into a car, but Robert pressed on the brake and saved our lives. Mohamed talked to me calmly and made sure I understood what I did wrong. He cared about our life, and he cared about making me into a good driver rather than only caring about passing the driver's license or earning money. He's right - learning how to drive well so that you don't put your life and other people's life in danger is more important than a paper driver's license. So I decided to invest in 4 more driving lessons. There were 2 major mistakes I made in my first 3 driving lessons - wearing thick soled shoes (you won't be able to feel how much your pressing on the brake and accelerator) and taking the bus to Alamo Driving School (you'll feel tired even before you take your lesson). My last 5 classes were with Mercedez who is extremely professional/highly skilled driver and a brilliant driving instructor. Alamo Driving School will pick you up and drop you off. The reason most of the reviews mention Mercedez is probably because she teaches the classes for lots of high school kids who are learning how to drive for the first time too. She taught me, someone who has never driven before, how to parallel park (after 90 minutes, I learned how to parallel park), how to drive safely on 6th street, and how to drive safely on the highway. She teaches you everything you need to know about being able to drive well, hands out really specific, easily readable, and informative papers on how to make turns/parallel mark. She was always on time to pick me up, went through the DPS route with me, and pointed out honestly what I needed to improve on. With her help, now I feel completely in control of the car rather than the other way around. In total, I took 8 driving lessons and did no other driving outside of those hours. I don't have a car, and Alamo Driving Schools kindly let me borrow their car at an additional fee for the driving test. Today I passed my driving test with a score of 90+!
