My teenage daughter had her road test there today. I was hesitant to do her road test there at first but anyway made the appointment cause it's close to where we live. Greg was awesome and professional. He gave my daughter some tips and what she needed to work on her driving skills after the test. The person(man) on the desk was also friendly, gave some encouragement to my daughter that she'll be okay on the test as she was nervous and very accommodating. I wish there was an option for no stars at all. This place is absolutely terrible and they just want your money. I scheduled and ready for my road test, I had all the documents and I even cleaned the car I was using. I had my registration looked at and they charged me $25 non refundable for having the old one, which was only a month passed its expiration date while all of the other things were good. They could not even wait 10 minutes for my father and I to go back home and get the newest one. The lady who helped us was rude and unforgiving and also the instructor just gave me a bad vibe. I was wrong for listening to someone hat recommended this place. They are lucky enough I had $25 on the spot to pay for a rescheduled exam or else I would have not come back here. Never left a review in my life. Instructor didn't care about anything. My son drove almost flawless and he failed him. I asked to him to explain why he failed and he just told me he was close and could handle a car but would not give me a reason he failed. He would not provide me with any documentation about it. Failed me because a light changed red as I was already half way through the lane. And when asked what I should have done other than complete my turn I was told by the "instructor" that he doesn't have time to explain to just go reschedule with the girl at the front desk. He would not show me the paper so I could actually see my score. But I feel I should not have been failed on one mistake. And if it was more than just one then they should actually tell you what is wrong. I should have read the reviews before going in. As they are all correct, this place is a bunch of money hungry scammers. That will fail you on your first test everytime. Do not waste your time or money on this place. Go else where. Read Less

I had my road test yesterday with Arnie of Academy Driving School and it was nothing but a wonderful experience. In spite of the bad weather, we completed the basic controls skill test and road test with success. I was a bit nervous at first but Arnie made me feel comfortable and relaxed and I was able to perform well to pass my test. Best experience I have ever had! The receptionist is really patient and friendly. I can't speak English very well, but when I called, she was so patient and friendly. The instructor is professional and humorous, which really helped me build the confidence for driving. Then I scheduled the road test there and passed. My teenage son took his drivers test with Arnie. I have to say it was an excellent experience. Arnie made him feel at ease with his comments and was very helpful and encouraged him to ask questions. He pointed out some things that teen drivers sometimes miss and how to respond in typical real life driving situations during the test. My son and I were very happy with the entire experience and it was quick and easy to schedule the test. We had a great experience taking segment 2 and then scheduling a road test through Academy Driving.  We were able to secure a last minute spot in their 3-day class, and completed it successfully with no issues.  It was very easy to schedule the road test on a Sunday ( higher rate), and the test itself went very smoothly.  My son had a TERRIBLE experience with a rival company for Segment 1, so I was vigilant to avoid another headache. Don't go here. Instructor was late when their policy is don't be late for starters. Instructor is 5 foot tall and has a napolian syndrome attitude. They are out to take your money here. Judging kids by Inches from the curb. Basically failing kids by how many inches they are from the curb for parallel parking. Kids were walking out upset and teacher had a smirk on his face. Plus if your daughter goes here he will look her up and down like a pervert. Trust me there's driving academy's all over and it's worth going to a different location. This guy enjoys giving kids a hard time especially girls.Go to the one on Southfield rd.  My daughter passed with no points three hours after we left this place.  Someone should turn them into the state of Michigan. My son took three tests with them a while back... Three! And each time he failed. The instructors never told him why also. He passed parking, and then in the driving section he did everything flawlessly. I remember after the first and second time he spent a half hour per day studying speed limits and road rules (he wanted his license badly). He had around 200-300 of driving practice already and yet they failed him each time. I know i shouldn't doubt their word, but I just could not fathom how they failed him each time without saying anything. I've asked friends who have been to this place and they said that they tend to grade way too strictly. I took him to courtesy and he got a full score. Terrible experience at Academy Driving School of Troy!!!!! Do not take the road test with the female instructor. She was arguing with her co-worker while we were waiting to register in the office. The male instructor seemed frustrated with her. I should have removed my daughter from listening to their argument. She did not greet or introduce herself. She did NOT give 6 feet plus vehicle length. It completely look like the vehicle length ONLY. The width was not 8 feet. The cones were not straight. They were almost in a semi-circle. I should have video taped it but I was in shock. It was a terrible experience from beginning. Make sure you do not make go there without a phone to take pictures/video. They just want you to take the test again to make another $45.00 dollars. She make that very clear. Read Less
