Terrible business. Time to upgrade your processes to include on line booking.  Folks in the City of Quincy should stay clear of this place.  If you want to get things done, go to North Quincy Auto.  They are extremely responsive and friendly and have plenty of available cars, instructors and resources.  Village - it's time to STOP and listen to your customers.  Try responding to an email or a phone message.  Also, you never know when there will be someone available in this office. I am really happy that I chose  this school. My instructor Dave (he owns the company) was so gentle, comforting with very clear English for my Russian ear. He made me laugh and it helped me to relax and not to be too nervous. I am 54 y.o. and it was my first attempt to drive a car. At the same time he was just an excellent teacher.  He gave me confidence and made me feel more positive about my future on a road as a driver. Dave was always very punctual and professional. Thanks, Dave! And good luck to you and your business. Read Less

I love this place and I'm sad to see the low reviews. These people are amazing! My girlfriend and I just took lessons and scheduled tests with them. Dave and Andrea (not sure if I spelled that right, sorry!) and the two other women I met, are great, really down to earth people who actually care about you bettering your driving and passing your driving test. I took lessons with both Dave and Andrea and they make you feel super comfortable and it's just like talking to a friend even, there's no stress. When it came down to the test I unfortunately failed the first time but my girlfriend passed. Before the test Dave was coaching us with breathing exercises to relax and just the overall vibe was very comforting. I just passed my test today with them and it went pretty smooth, they were all very happy for me. I recommend them highly, it's all very genuine. I went to a school before this one that had very high yelp reviews and it turned out to be a really sucky experience, so don't always rely on reviews because honestly I was worried about Village auto because of the low stars and I'm sad they don't have all 5 stars. These people are very experienced in both driving and people skills, they're very down to earth and this helps you learn better for sure. Thanks guys for everything! ~Chelsea and Mariah. Read Less

Awesome! I am an adult brand new driver, got my license 9 years ago magically passing the test. And I haven't driven since: partly because I didn't have the need but mostly because I was mortally afraid of the road. Now, 9 years later, I ve finally pushed myself to take driving lessons. I have taken 6 lessons here. All 3 Instructors are very good, I had no problems at all. I am driving everywhere now and even been to highway. No fear. 5 out of 6 lessons the driver was late 10 minutes, yes. But with Quincy center all dug up and detoured, you know... there's traffic. Read Less

I had an AWFUL experience here! As I mentioned in another review I am an adult driver who was nervous about driving as I was in an accident while I had my permit previously. But as it turns out, I needed to get my license and had to take lessons to accomplish this. Village is convenient so I decided to give them a try as the other school I was going to could not fit me in for lessons. My initial lesson went well and I was hopeful. Lesson two was quite a different story. While driving, I was yelled at for not giving another car the right away when I had the right away. The other car was stopped and obviously waiting to see what I was going to do. I kept going knowing this and got yelled at as the instructor said I should have stopped and let them go. A bit later I was yelled at for stopping a little bit over the white line at a stop signal. Now I acknowledge that was a mistake, but I don't feel that I should have been yelled at for making a mistake during a lesson! After the lesson, I booked another one but then cancelled because the more I thought about it, the more I felt that no one should be made to feel the way I was made to feel. It's your money...you should find a driving school that is patient, makes you feel comfortable and cares about helping you succeed on your road test....I am happy to say that I found a school that did all those things for me...Village was not the one for me! I decided to share my experience for adults who are looking for a good driving school and happen to have found Village Auto School in their research. Unless you have money to waste, DON'T take lessons here. I took many lessons yet wasn't really taught anything. I basically drove around and was told to take a left or a right a few times, did one parallel parking, one reverse driving for a few feet, and one three-point turn per lesson, although I told the instructor I wanted to practice on parking and three-point turns and know the essentials to pass the driving test. The instructor basically engaged me in casual conversations rather than teaching. Paying $50 a lesson for lazy "instruction" is outrageous. I decided to look elsewhere, and what I learned in one day at the other driving school (ADP in Dorchester) was significantly more than what I learned the MANY lessons I took at Village Auto School. I discovered that the instructor at Village Auto School wasn't even telling me the basics I needed to know to pass the road test. I regret the money I wasted here, and don't want anybody else to waste their money for nothing. Read Less

I would NOT suggest this place for personal driving lessons (perhaps the Driving Ed program is better). I was barely taught anything - just drove around, with one three-point turn & one parallel parking incorporated into each of these "lessons" (which were supposed to be $50 for an hour but was actually 50 mins) while the instructor did a lot of casual talking instead of teaching. I went several times & asked to practice more on three-point turns & parallel parking. I finally realized I needed to looked elsewhere & I found an excellent driving school in Dorchester. Not only did it cost less, but during my first lesson, I learned more than I did the several times I went to Village Auto School (i.e. hand signaling, where wind shield wiper was, emergency lights, a lot of practice doing three-point turns & parallel parking - which I didn't get from Village Auto School). I am an "older" student - never needed my driver's license before but finally had to get it for work. Village Auto was terrific for private lessons. After weekly lessons for 2 months, plus another few weeks waiting for the RMV to schedule the road test, I passed on the first try. Dave (the owner) is absolutely fantastic, making you comfortable and confident behind the wheel. Christy was a terrific teacher-  she's the one who taught me to drive from my first lesson. Evan is young, but has the makings of a good teacher. He is incredibly patient and give you encouragement and guidance as you work through parallel parking. If you google Village Auto School, you will see numerous negative comments about Mary. Those are true- she has a difficult personality and is much too intolerant and mean towards new drivers. But, I have to admit, that her approach has turned me into a cautious (or, perhaps paranoid) driver, expecting every pedestrian to suddenly jump off the sidewalk into my front bumper. It was generally difficult to get private lessons at night or on the weekend, so book early. But, overall, they gave me the experience to pass the test, and that's what counts. Read Less

Horrible driving school. The instructor constantly had me make 4 right turns while I was driving for one lesson. For that hour, I went in a circle. It was a complete waste of my time. Also that same instructor saw something blinking on the dashboard and pointed to it by putting his arm through the driving wheel while I was on a busy street. I couldn't turn away from cars going the other way because the idiot's arm blocked me from turning the wheel. Luckily, no cars hit me because of him. The instructor never even mentioned three point turns, parallel parking, or anything I would do on a Road Exam. The textbooks are about 30 years old and starting to fall apart. The videos are they showed us are also about 30 years old. Outdated material and unhelpful teaching. Any driving school is better than this place. I recommend D&D Auto School in Boston. My friends got their money's worth and learned to drive much faster than anyone who went to this place. Read Less

I want my money back. I specifically stated at the start of my lesson that my goal was to work on parallel parking... guess what, I practiced that all of TWICE in an hour of driving around and chatting. I feel like I spent maybe 7 minutes actually learning new things; all the rest was just driving around on the road, which I could obviously do, and wouldn't take a driving instructor 50 minutes to assess. I can do that for free with my parents instead of for $45 an hour, which I understand is an OK rate for private driving lessons. However, it's still steep in the broad scheme of a young person's budget, which means that for god's sake, it's not fair to waste my paid lesson time. I scheduled a next lesson, but I'm going to call and cancel it as soon as I can get a human being on the phone so I can complain. Read Less
