My child has passed the road test today with flying colors! Thank you everyone from City Auto School! I have just received a follow-up phone call from the school to inform us about license and auto insurance procedures. They have really done a thorough job. Eric is a very patent instructor who has done a great job both in explaining and demonstrating everything from checking the blind spot to how to parallel park. MR. STANLEY is the BEST classroom instructor who has really driven home the importance of following the driving rules and obeying the law. My child's class of 6 students has the one of the highest average (somewhere above 90) that the school has ever recorded. BAD! BAD! AND AGAIN BAD. Just believe me, it not a good choice, don't come to this school. They don't know how to provide a proper service, they don't know basic principles in business. They just want to make more money and that's it. They don't worry about their customers and reputation, they just getting money and doesn't matter the results. So bad. If you are not Chinese, then it will be difficult to communicate, because they have a big problem with english, everything in chenese, even forms in chenese. They do business in chenese style, they forgot that they are in USA, they don't want to follow USA legislation and rules, they just need money-money-money. I can say for sure they are doing fraud. I didn't had a good experience at all. When it comes to rates, they are very cheap in scheduling for a road test and providing the Sponsors for the same but a lot more is expected. -While booking for the sponsor, I explicitly asked that will I be allowed to drive from there office to the driving test location. I was told that 'YES' I will be allowed, but the driver denied it completely on the day of test. -The car was really messy and not at all maintained from inside. -A lot more to put but I'll conclude. Conclusion:They have competitive rates but..its better paying more to any other reputed place. Read Less

This is one of the more decently priced driving schools, but you get what you pay for. My instructor was impatient and curt, which only made me more nervous when driving. He would step on the instructor's brake and not tell me so I'm here pressing the gas because the car is moving super slow and he'd yell at me for gassing too much. There was one time he made me drive to Copley to pick up a gift from a previous student -- it was a horrible experience and I had to switch with him at an intersection. He then made me wait in the car while he went to get his gift and wasted the driving time I paid for. I switched instructors once, but the second guy made me super uncomfortable and he kept asking if I had a boyfriend. On test day, they asked me to arrive an hour earlier than the actual test time, but didn't tell me so I was super anxious waiting for them to come pick me up because they were late and I thought I was going to miss my test!Pros -  super close to Broadway train station and they will also come pick you up from there. They've also dropped me off at Chinatown station on the way back so they are pretty flexible with that. It is also good to practice your driving in the city. It's true, they try their best to make money from their students. The word refund doesn't exist in their dictionary. I stay really far away and sometimes it's impossible to make it on the scheduled time. I remember once their was a water pipe breakage in my neighbour and there was no way I could get to the class. It was all over the news as well. I called up the school to ask if I could reschedule. Obviously, the answer was we can't offer refunds. You loose the class. Well, ya whatever. It takes a few classes to find out which instructor is better than the rest. I had one instructor assigned to me on the first day who just wouldn't stop rushing me. Driving with him was like driving on an f1 race track. I felt so uncomfortable, specially since I had no prior experience in driving. He was always on his phone and was so annoying. I had to ask him constantly as to where I had to go next or what I had to be doing. Unless I asked him to teach me something specifically, I wouldn't be taught. So then I asked for a change in my instructor.Unless you constantly tell the instructor you have a driving test scheduled, they make you drive around casually. It was only when I told them , hey I have a test scheduled day after , that they bothered giving me tips and questions asked for the road test ( like a day before the test) . In the TEN classes ($400+) I spent before that - nothing! I was just asked to drive around. And no matter how much you practice, you are obviously never good enough. Which is why I ended up taking ten classes or more. After every class, I was given some commentary " oh u need practice, you dint look left" " book another class, you dint look at the pedestrian" - I get it . But I'm a student, I don't have that kinda money to spend for a 45 min class cos I dint look left.( Btw on the notices they claim that their classes are for an hour, but it's actually just for 45min) I started driving around with my friend cos I felt I was doing horrible after taking so many classes with this school. Like no class was good enough for the instructor. My friend was like, "I don't quite see what the issue is here, you seem to be prepared for a road test. Why are you signing up for classes over and over again?"Then I figured it was up to me to get the practice I needed and not with the school. I started practicing with my friend and passed the road test at the first attempt.Moral of the story: if you want a test to be scheduled easily, the school will help you with it. But if you want to pass the test without burning a hole in your pocket , is your headache . I burnt a big one. Read Less

Money loving business filled with greedy greedy workers filled with stupidity.These people are ridiculous. Scheduled for 5 classes in a period of two weeks.. drove my brother and came the first day for 2 classes. When we got there he found out he lost his permit and I told them he lost it and they said it doesn't matter u still have to pay for the lessons. I said no I'm not paying 64$ for lessons Tht wasn't received. They said tht if u don't pay u won't get any lessons. I told them well I've scheduled 3 other lessons in the future. So you'd be losing money and those appointment slots. They were so worried about the 64$ tht they didn't listen to what I was saying. So I left and do not plan on going back. So I have driven 150k miles through 15 years in 100+ shift stick cars in 30+ countries, but US requires me to take a road test with a sponsor anyway... This place would schedule a road test, give you a car and a sponsor for 100USD but they wouldn't let you practice even for 30 seconds in an empty parking area to get used to the car before the road test. Despite 3 valid EU licences! So basically the first time you start the car is with the examiner next to you! It is unbelievable, as if they want you to fail so that you can take classes with them?? Hello, I am currently 18 years of age and had no drivers ed of sorts. Looking to get my license I called 4 places within the city to schedule a test ASAP. Every one had a minimum of 2 Weeks before I could take the test, except for City Auto. I was able to schedule my test within the week and had the option of a lesson before to give me an idea of what the test pertains to; hand signals, hill parking, etc. After taking the test (and passing!) I've come to the conclusion that I would have failed had I not taken the lesson before. Good school with fair prices. Very accessible from T (broadway) and great instructors! I have driven a little bit back home but MA rules were completely new to me. I had Eric both times I took my classes and he's an excellent instructor- he not only teaches you how to drive but tells you many tricks to pass the road test. Passed my permit test and called them to schedule a driving session, got it for the day after. After the second one I scheduled my road test in Dorchester and got a date for exactly 2 weeks after I asked to schedule it. Arrived on the day of the test, instructor picked me up from the school and took me to the venue and back. Passed in my first try after only 2 classes with Eric. Dorchester is a great test location they make you do the usual (parallel parking, 3 point turn, uphill, pull over) - recommend this school to everyone but especially to international students!! This is a really great driving school. Both the instructor and staff are really nice. I had my lessons with Louis, who is very patient and teaching me stuff beyond just passing the road test. The school is very experienced and can give you exact tips on how to handle the test. I was very unconfident about driving but taking classes with Louis boost my confidence. Went to City auto school February/March of 2015 and was taught by multiple instructors which was wonderful if you asked me. 1 driver told me I was like a natural to the stuff he taught me. Another make it very clear that any mistakes I make will potentially cause me to fail, which stuck with me. I obtained my licence a month later. Between my last class and the test was about a 2 week gap which is amazing due to the fact that I passed on my first try. I do not regret coming here to learn , is like to think I'm the best driver out of all my friends , and I give credit to City Auto! Read Less

I sadly didn't pass my road test the first time and out of desperation I purchased another road test since my permit was about to expire and I failed that as well! Moral of the story if you are paying money for services you should succeed! Not get this feeling of its your fault or pay more money! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I love this place. It is the best driving school in Southie.  All staffs and instructors are very friendly and professional. Very convenient to schedule classes and road test. I usually took my driving classes with louis and Eric. They are extremely helpful and professional. Highly recommended.I was able to pass my road test in Lynn. (I scheduled my road test via city auto. So the instructor took me to the road test location, and then I used that car for road test . I've had a pretty good experience with them. I wanted to be done with my driving license process/application ASAP! I took the online test at Boston RMV on a Wednesday.Next week on Monday, after quite some research online and multiple phone calls to different driving schools, I finalized City Auto School. Went there on Monday to pay the Road Test fees (they accept only cash.) As I wanted it to be ASAP, I had to pay a little extra than their normal fees, but they got me the road test for that Thursday. Took 2 lessons with them the next day, the instructor tells you a lot of things, where you are going wrong in every situation. Side note, I have driven for quite some years in India, I took these lessons just to get familiarized with the rules here.On the day of the Road Test, they called me to the driving school at 1 pm. The lady took us (me and some other students) to Dorchester for the road test. I was the first one to go, they make you do the usual things (3 point turn, parallel park, pull over) and if you know how to drive, it's pretty basic. Passed the test.The lady dropped us back to the school.Went to the RMV, paid the fees.One week later, got the license in my mailbox.Not knowing people who own a car and all the other hassle is saved if you go with them. I make an appointment at 8:30 in the morning for a road test, but instructor shows up at 8:56. He doesn't say sorry for being late.There is 28 degree after the snow day. The receptionist is extremely rude. She told me to wait for 8:30 in the T station and instructor will come to pick me up. I wait about a half hour in the freezing morning at the T station, don't she need to feel little sorry for me? All right, she thinks I am wrong because road test is at 9:00am. Excuse me, if you already know the instructor will show up close to 9:00 am, can you please let me know? And why you told me to wait for 8:30?  No one wants to wait in cold like a stupid dog.-------------------------------------------------------This is bullshit. Don't! Please don't ever go to this drivings school. Their sucks operating system and extreme sucks workers will definitely give you a big surprise.I went to this driving school last year, yes. It is last year!! After I find out this school doesn't work out for me, I switch to another driving school. This is the time I noticed this the worst ever driving school is a completely bullshit. They kept schedule me a road test without my knowledge,  since the time  I went to this driving school. I only scheduled one and took one road test in this driving school.  However, I find out in RMV that I have scheduled 10 road tests in my record.  ( I fail one road test, since I took 10-15 classes  in this driving school, the instructor didn't teach me how to drive. It made no sense for me. Front desk is extremely rude, always try to blame you). Don't ever trust them will negotiate with you if you come to the driving school. They are a GOOD LIAR.  They will tell you they never do that, and they don't have proper to do it. They pretend that they are innocent. Please Don't ever trust them, because you will have unexpected road test come to you again and again. If you plan to take your own road test, RMV will reject your request because your EXAM BOOK.I believe the owner is sucking here, they even try to record your voice without your permission.
