I took my written course, 8 hour driving course, and final license test here and had a great experience throughout. The instructors were very patient with me and willing to teach, especially driving instructor Mr. Michael Austin. He was my instructor for my license road test and made me feel comfortable even when I was nervous. He was very fair regarding his grading. He was very understanding and lighthearted and overall contributed to me feeling comfortable on the road. Definitely someone I look up to! Read Less

My overall experience with Victor Manning driving school was great. They have a great staff. My driving instructor was Mr. Michael Austin which was a great instructor. Possibly the worst driving school I've ever been to. They were the most incompetent people I have ever dealt with. I lived in New Orleans for years and my brother had gone there for his lessons when he was 17. I just moved back from California and I had my permit for 160 days when I called them. Mr. Mike Austin told me he would give me a great price for my last 4 hours because he said Louisiana requires 8 hours (inaccurate, when I had gone to the DMV they didn't ask for any of my hours) and I had already done 4 in California; he also told me that he would be able to switch my California permit to a Louisiana permit through victor manning (which is illegal; I had no idea until I asked another school). First, no one picked up the phone, and I ended up having to call his mobile number to reach him. He told me he did not have any openings but he was willing to take me out on Saturday for a lesson. All I had to do was submit a document that stated I took the drivers Ed online or 6 hour course as well as a letter from my driving school in California that stated I had already completed 4 hours of behind the wheel to ms Katrina at the front desk. She also needed a copy of my birth certificate and my social security card. I felt as if he was doing me a favor and did not want to let him down so I I found the documents and transferred them from California to Katrina as soon as possible (20 min after I reached them on Wednesday). It was scheduled that I would go to victor manning on Friday to drop off the money for mr. Austin. I had to send a follow up email to make sure she got the documents and she sent me an email as I'm leaving to go see them, that stated that my documents did not qualify to take drivers Ed from them. I was beyond angry that she did not notify me by s call, nor did she contact me in advance. She told me I had to retake a 6 hour course of in class instruction before I could go ahead and take the lesson (400 for the lesson and class). I was already upset and I just wanted to make sure that I had no complications going into it. And she tells me that I cannot go because I'm not 17 years old yet, to which she said she had no idea, but she's already received my birth certificate as well as a copy of my permit with my birth date on it as well. I was angry that I had to retake a class already that I have taken, pay 400, and now she wanted to act as if she had no idea about my situation? I told her that there must be some way she could make an exception for me since I already received my permit and I have all documents and verifications of completing these courses. She said that she would check with her manager and she never called me back. I ended up going to drive dat academy on airline and they were able to save me 200 and a lot of grief. Please save your money and time and head over to drive dat academy. They accommodate you for YOUR situation for YOUR benefit, and they are not there to help themselves to your money. I had a difficult situation moving here to begin with, and the saddest part about victor manning is that they knew I was handling this on my own, but they were willing to make an effort to extort my money from me. However, once they realized I had all my bases covered, they didn't try again, hence Katrina never calling me back. I selected Victor Manning Driving School because of the reputation I had learned about this business over the past 50 + years. My son was about to begin driving and I was under the impression I was going with the best driving company in the city.  I learned that my perception and belief of Victor Manning Driving School being the very best,was very wrong.I entered the Manning office in Metairie with my son and found many people waiting to decide on their selection of driving school offerings. When I finally worked my way to the reception desk, I had to ask the lady at the desk if this is where I could get information on the driving lessons. While she was not in any way rude, she was basically robotic in telling me the fee and the hours involved. She did not at any time ask for my business or offer any reason why I should use Victor Manning ......... basically, it was as if they were the only game in town and I could pay the fee or just move on !I would assume that when you bring your teenage son or daughter into a driving school, that the people would know that the parent has concerns and needs questions answered. None of that type of interaction was about to happen. AGAIN, the lady was not rude......... she was just robotic and had her receipt book in hand to wrote a receipt ..........thats it.Because my son was eager and very excited to get the driving lessons started, I was not about to say ...........lets look into another driving school....SO, I simply paid and left the office. My son completed the driving written part of the process and scored in the 90's................. the next step was the actual driving a vehicle. I took my son to the Victor Manning School on Monday ( Manning office closed ) to meet a driving instructor that would take my son on his first driving lesson. The driver was late or the instructor and the office was locked. I might add, that the instructor did not offer any completion times or information about the lesson. As a matter of fact, the instructor did not even say a word to me.I later in the day picked up my son and I once again followed the same schedule the next day.  I went into the Manning office on the second day and asked if I could buy additional driving time in order to allow my son to have a more comfortable feel for driving .....prior to going to the DMV.  The same receptionist lady, was at the desk. I paid my balance of $ 200.00 and she informed me that it would be well into the end of the month or the first of the following and that the 4 hour driving would cost me an additional $200.00  for that 4 hours.  While attempting to pay my balance, it took nearly 20 minutes for the receptionist to collect my money on a credit card, because their phone kept ringing and cutting off the credit card connection............. this was yet another negative in my perception of Victor Manning.While all this may seem gibberish and possibly just an angry customer, I can assure you that it is not often that I write these type letters. My feeling is simple, I don't care to have any company taking my business for granted or just because they think I have no other option. In conclusion, the Victor Manning driving school is very unorganized and lacks positive professional interaction with it's clients. When I looked at the other review on YELP, I clearly knew that I had picked the wrong company. Victor Manning is clearly OVERPRICED and I experienced that myself, when I explored the world of Driving Lessons. If the instructors are not certified as the other customer says in his/her YELP report, is an issue I have not explored. In summary, this is a business that has clearly lost its cutting edge. In years of the past, Victor Manning was the best of the best. I have found other driving schools that offer schedules that will work with a teen's school and other activities and I might add that the fee is $ 100 less that Victor Manning.  While I have been subjected to poor service, ineffective drive time offerings and more. Check out ALL the other companies to see their offers and be sure that they will work with and help to accomplish the goal of a drivers license.   I hope that the owner or owners of Victor Mannings, will read this information and do something to help their business. The Lessons and Convenience are good.The people are super nice they seem to care.Some of the lessons are outdated. The place needs a overhaul.The conditions are horrible.I felt like i was sitting in a run down trailer.Stains all over the floor.The walls look like there about to collapse.The building is overall Tiny.Its not worth the price. They have you over a barrel,because the DMV requires the course.It is very unprofessional.Only one teacher is certified in classroom instruction.The drivers are very inexperienced,they do on the job training for them.$445.00 is a little much for this business that lacks in so many areas.No drug/alcohol screening is required to drive your child.
