I scheduled a behind the wheel session for my daughter who became ill the morning of her 6:45pm evening lesson.  I called promptly the morning of her lesson to let Top Driver know that she would not be able to attend the lesson.  They proceeded to tell me that because of the cancellation within less than a 24 hour window they would have to charge me $40 (in absence of a doctors note.)   It's all about the money.  The kids are secondary. Classroom sessions ok- usual boring stuff. Actual behind the wheel lessons are ok but it is very difficult to schedule them and they will not pick up at ETHS, only New Trier. Often they will only pick up and drop off from the Wilmette location, which is only open during actual classroom time so there's no place to wait.  My daughter attended the other big driving school and scheduling lessons was very easy with pickup at school and drop off at home.  Cannot recommend Top Driver. It will take us about 4 months to get 8 lessons scheduled. Read Less

My major issue is that It is impossible to schedule behind the wheel lessons.   They have an on line scheduling system and classes fill up immediately.  My son wasn't able to get take all his classes within the time frame.   I contacted the office and they told me I had to pay an additional $150 to extend the time period.  Another friend called to complain and she was told they had issues keeping instructors, so they extended her son's time frame.   When I mentioned this they said that was an issue at the Glenview office, not the Wilmette office.  FYI - you can take in car lessons at any of their facilities, so a shortage at one facility impacts all facilities. My son finished classroom lessons in March.  He was able to make-up two classes without any issues, but now they are telling us he never attended the classes and he needs to make-up these classes, after paying another extension fee.FYI - My two daughters took lessons with another company and we didn't have any issues. Impossible to get a hold of anyone but an operator. No local phone number to call. 800 operators are not helpful and offer little assistance. During 4 calls I was on hold over 25 minutes.

My daughter-in-law enrolled herself for driving course. She completed the programs without any bad experience. Instructor and teachers were quite fun and experienced. Instructor always showed up on time and will go extra mile for their students. She was quite happy with the instructors. The instructors are always happy, in good mood and ready to help their students. I certainly believe she is a Top Driver now just due to her instructors. Read Less

I only sent my son to this program because it is close to his high school. It is an expensive program but I figured I was paying for convenience. My first encounter everything seemed ok. I scheduled most of my sons lessons over the phone. Admittedly, his first weekend session I completely spaced out and was happy to pay the no show fee of $40. The second time I scheduled appointments they did not repeat back the dates for confirmation but now insist that they did. A couple of weeks later there was a blizzard in Chicago (12/12/10) with heavy winds and it was recommended to stay off roads. If it was dangerous for experienced drivers to be out how could they consider having students drive when there was poor visibility? I tried to call the office over and again to see if they were canceling and trying to cancel. The office phone was hooked up to a fax machine the entire morning. They sent me a bill for no show. After the first incident I made it a habit to call the office and confirm appointments. When I called this past week they told me that we had already missed our appointment that day and that I was going to have to pay another fee. I told the phone person that this time I would HAVE to dispute it. They refuse to accept my claim. I would strongly warn anyone against using this program. Read Less
