First, some background. I am not a teenager. I have a driving license from another country, but studying in a driving school a couple of years ago was the only driving experience I had. Unlike in the countries/places I lived before, in Atlanta, it is difficult to live without a car, so after some time I decided to get a Georgia driving license.
I got a learner's permit some time ago, theory exam was easy to pass. Next, the road test. I found about Just Drive Right through search in the internet. I purchased a 6-hour package, though thinking that this might be not enough for me.
Already during the first 1.5 hour lesson I was driving pretty confidently. We started from the basics at the North Dekalb Mall, then drove in the neighborhood, then on the highway, drove past Stone Mountain (this was the first time I was in that area), I was keeping the speed, braking, turning right and left more or less smoothly. The instructor, Ms. Hillman, told me I should make the appointment for the test already.
During the second lesson, we practiced back and parallel parking in the conditions similar to the test (with a similar layout of cones). This was more complicated for me, but using Ms. Hillman's tips, explanations and advice I was doing those exercises well more often than not.
In the third and fourth lessons, we went to the test location (the closest appointment was in Lithonia). The neighborhood is beautiful by itself, so I enjoyed driving there. We drove on the actual test route and practiced parking in the actual test conditions (using the same parking places).
We went together to the test. I scored 92/100 (you need 75 to pass). I made one mistake (-4) during parking which I never made during the lessons. And one slightly wide/fast turn (-4) during the road part. The examiner was very nice, by the way, explaining everything you should do very clearly.
As for formalities, all lessons went smoothly, there were no problems with anything. Also, Ms. Hillman is just a good person, so I enjoyed the conversations, although I am not a big talker.
I clearly recommend Just Drive Right to anyone. Read Less
