Before I attended this school I had never driven a semi before so definitely a super green newbie. The course started with Reid in the classroom, a very experienced trucker who shared his knowledge, a no-bs attitude, and taught us everything we needed to know to pass the test, and all of us did with high scores. Next up was James, the superstar of ustds, I really lucked out working with this guy. Calm demeanor, professional but fun sense of humor, he ended up being the one teaching us backing. He's got that skill down to a science. Very encouraging, quick to analyze what went wrong and always has a way to fix it. I only got to work with Mark once but he's the one who made shifting click in my head. Mark has a lot of experience, also a calm demeanor, and when you have a question, find him and ask, he always has an answer. If I could pick any teammate to have on the road, it would be him. My first test, my nerves got me and it was a fail. My final practice day I got to work with Johnnie, another rockstar of backing. Nerves aside, I passed the second time. These four men are the best. I watched the others and it is not lost on me that I lucked out getting the instructors I got, there was no sitting down on the course, being ignored for a cell phone, no missing an exit because of being pilled up and not paying attention, no having the instructor show up, decide not to work and just going home leaving the students to fend for themselves... Yes these things did happen to other students. I suggest corporate take a close look at those individuals as if I had been stuck with those, I'd have pitched a fit in the office every day until i no longer had to waste my time with them. Students are paying to learn, find people who will teach them. It also would not be a bad idea to get all the backing instructors on the same page. Use James and Johnnie's tried and true methods and stick to them, so as not to confuse students so they can pass their tests. Which bear in mind, this school's purpose, to teach you to pass the test. Being an experienced driver/backer/everything else will come with time and practice. So to wrap up this novel, James, Johnnie, Mark, and Reid should be given raises, it's the right thing to do. I'll be forever grateful to them for the skills they gave me to pursue my new career. Much love guys!! See you on the flip side!!!πŸ™‚ Read Less

Great school with great instructor's. If I had to do it all over again I would attend school here. My own personal advice do what you can to get Day classes and not night classes this upcoming season. It was hard to see at night in the yard. USTDS is the best school to attend and I did my research on other schools before choosing. They also have multiple financial programs to get you in school. Read Less

Having input from several experienced instructors was very beneficial. All were patient and had pleasant personalities. I've attended many training sessions where the instructors were rude and made everyone aware that they were miserable in their job. USTDS picked a great crew to share a wealth of experience, knowledge and tips for the new driver. I had a little trouble with the double clutching but not once did an instructor make me feel that I wouldn't eventually get it. They were very supportive and expressed a confidence in me that I didn't really feel in myself. Thank You! Read Less

USTDS is not even as half good as they mentioned over here, in the reviews. Most of these reviews are written by school officials, employees and their friends. So no wonder the ratings is so high but the reality is very, very different and this school is NO BETTER THAN ANY OTHER SCHOOL OUT THERE. Do not be impressed by this huge ratings because this is a scam to lure people to this school and fall in trap. About the instructors they were talking about (in the earlier reviews), only the first one, who teaches the theoretical part, is only better. However the real problem begins when you will start the road training because those people (trainers) are the most illiterate, arrogant, unprofessional, callous, and disgusting minded people you will ever see. Even the school knows about this very well and does not give a damn about it, since they don't care, and also because they already got your money. So what you will gonna do!! Either tolerate their insult or leave. That's the only options you will have. Again, do not get overwhelmed by this huge good reviews since those are mostly fake and unfortunately I also falls trap by those huge good reviews. But the reality is very different than what people have written here. It is not the biggest problem how old their trucks are. More important is how they are teaching, how professional they are and what kind of attitude you will get from these people, particularly the road trainers. Again, this school is No Better than any other school out there. Be careful before you make a decision to go there and attend their classes. They are here to make money, and absolutely does not care about you. You might get better luck by attending other schools also. You just need to look. Read Less

I give 5 stars to the United States Truck Driving School. I attended the school located in Midway, Colorado. The instructors are top notch very informative. With well over 100 years experience between all of the instructors, you are in very good hands. Every question I asked was answered in a professional manner. Also, everything that was on the tests was gone over thoroughly in the class room and the practical application portion or the course. I would recommend United States Truck Driving School to everyone or anyone looking to get into the truck driving profession. Extremely happy with my experience at U.S.T.D.S Read Less

Do not attend this School. I did, when I went to the recruiting office at Midway, Co I told them I had no previous experience driving a Tractor-trailer or Straight Truck and was concerned about whether or not they could teach me how well enough to get my Class A CDL. They assured me that they were the best School in the Industry and that most of their Students complete the course and pass the CDL Test.Once they had my money I immediately began to hear a different story, several Instructors told our class "We don't care if you get your CDL, we already have our CDL." Their Instructors are of the lowest quality imaginable. They will literally harass and harangue Students while they are in the act of learning how to drive a Semi Truck with a 42 foot trailer in traffic. From the time I started the class until the day I tested for my CDL 14 Students had tested for their CDL while I was there, of those 14 only 5 passed their CDL Test, that's a success rate of just a little better than 10%! They have a success rate of 10% and they claim to be the best school in the Industry! With only 10% of their Students passing the CDL Test one would think they would conduct a review of their Instructors and the Program. No such luck. The unspoken policy at US Truck Driving School seems to be "There's no such thing as a bad Instructor, only bad Students." When I was speaking to Leonard, the Manager of the Instructors about my concerns he told me "The course used to be 8 weeks long but they shortened it to 3 weeks, I don't know why they did that, I don't agree with it but it isn't up to me." The equipment is in terrible shape, we were learning how to do a pre-trip inspection and none of the equipment met the criteria they were teaching us was safe for road travel. Another student who started 2 weeks after I did was a former State Patrol Officer and he told me that "The Student Driver can get a ticket for driving unsafe equipment if they get pulled over and a DOT inspection is conducted on these vehicles." I told him "They told us that the Company would get the ticket, not the Student Driver." He responded "They're wrong." This same Student used to conduct DOT inspections and told me that none of the Trucks or Trailers used for road driving at US Truck Driving School would pass a DOT Inspection and that they would all be taken out of commission due to being unsafe for driving. Keep in mind that this is a 6,000.00 course! There were only three students in my class, it was a small class. the course is 3 weeks long 12 days of which is behind the wheel. But you are sharing that wheel with two other drivers…. that means that you end up with about 4 days of driving experience. Read Less
