Just successfully completed the Basic Motorcycle Safety course at the a Motorcycle Training Academy. It was a 5 star experience, the RiderCoaches were skilled and patient. Many of the students had never ridden a motorcycle let alone operated a motorcycle. Prep included an online eCourse so we could all begin on the same page in class. The actual two day course had plenty of riding practice, and students had plenty of options regarding motorcycles they could use for the course. Did I mention 'patience?' Actually, the RiderCoaches should be anointed sainthood. A testament to their skill and instruction, the group passed! Although there is no guarantee students pass, Motorcycle Training Academy is totally dedicated to helping each student gain the confidence and operator skills offering remedial training and review, to include 'range' time and instruction. I was impressed with Leslie Larson's commitment to get the enrollment correct, and her and the office staff's timely documentation I needed for my out-of-state licensing requirements. Kudos to the MTA for getting our class up-to-speed! Read Less

Really opens your eyes to some of the dangers of riding and teaches you how to handle or minimize those threats. Great people who are really dedicated to riding & helping you learn.

I might give a better review had I been able to ride today, but on the second day you have to do s turns and a uturn to start out on the second day of a weekend class and if you fail = they take you off the bike! So I sat out the whole SUN of a weekend class - to have to sign up again for another round. However, on their behalf - everyone else passed except me and I did fine on the written part of the test. What can I say - I am 57 and never driven a motor cycle before yesterday! Managed 5 hours yesterday - wasn't pretty all the time - but managed. Still alive to try another day and will master this, just like skiing, which took a darn long time, driving, riding a bike, and other things... It will take time!  Hope I can get some one on one training and soon. I figure bold enough to yelp - I might just get it! Read Less

I took the week day class on 10/17-10/18. I had a great experience with this class. I thought the class room prep was well organized and structured. The instructors on the range were very helpful and positive. I purchased and new motorcycle 3 days after the class. While I was some what nervous at first, I can tell that the instruction I received has helped me out significantly. Read Less

Thinking about buying a motorcycle, or just bought one?Sign up for a BasicRiders course ASAP. Seriously it might just save your life. The BasicRiders course is geared for people just starting out, you'll be up riding on the first day, learning more advanced techniques that could very well save your life on the second. If you don't pass the cert. on the second day, you can show up another weekend, free of charge to practice, and then retake the course. If you already know how to ride, they offer other specialty courses to help you get better and maximize your bike and your abilities, but I'm focusing on the BasicRiders course. If you're just learning, take it. One weekend, you'll be introduced to the fundamentals and help mitigate the risks associated with riding. Read Less
