Your instructors are horrible. Seen you guys around always blocking the roads. You need to teach your instructors better. Driving or practicing on public streets while driving 15 mph in a 45 zone or signaling super early when turning is NOT OK. Today, one of your instructors actually flipped me because her student was obviously having issues backing up the car while blocking the entire parking lot from getting in and out. Perhaps you should teach how be more courteous when you drive rather than teaching your students road rage. Please practice in an empty parking lot or somewhere not as busy such as Sepulveda or Crenshaw. Your students are not receiving the right type of education. Read Less

Having used South Bay Driving School for my older daughter, it was naturally my first choice to call when my other daughter got her permit.  When I called to make an appointment for her first driving class so my daughter can start using her permit, I was told the very first available appointment was OVER a month away and that my daughter would be put on a cancelation list with the other people?  The lady on the phone told me they are so booked because it's summer and all the kids are trying to get it done over the summer.  That just makes no sense at all. Kids have 6 months to get the 6 hours of instruction in, I really doubt they all held off till summer. That's just not acceptable at all. This place isn't booked out because they're just that good... this place is booked out because they are understaffed with instructors. Needless to say, I took to Yelp and found EZ Street Driving School... Wally was able to get my daughter in that day. The instructor was on time, so polite and very calm. I cancelled my appointment after the instructor was really rude. I just moved to Torrance and decided to give this place a call. On the day of my lesson the instructor had no idea how to get to my house. He couldn't even speak clearly on telling me his location. I tried to give him the directions the best I could but then he was giving me attitude. Ok when I was about to tell him to meet me up in a restaurant near my house he asks me if I knew the directions to my own house in such a rude tone. I immediately hung up the phone. If he was this rude with the phone call I could just imagine with the lesson. Finally, the office itself called me, and it turns out they had the wrong address. Decided not to go here after I called to schedule an appointment and the woman who answered the phone was EXTREMELY rude and condescending. What happened to customer service?... are these small businesses so wealthy that they don't need my money? If I owned that business I'd be furious at the person answering the phone. The program and the instructors are excellent. My 16-year-old son took the on-line course and passed his exam the first time. Once he had the permit he had three lessons and passed his driving test the first time. The people in the office were very accommodating and made it clear all the legal requirements. these 5 stars are for my instructor, Teresa. I had 3 experiences with her before going and receiving my license, and each day she was there on time with a smile on her face and a real knowledge of how to drive safely and responsibly. Teresa taught me how to remain calm while behind the wheel while giving me tips on where to keep my eyes and ears to remain as alert as possible. You pay for six hours behind the wheel training yet you only get a portion of that time as too much time is allowing another student driver behind the wheel and even dropping them off at their home.  The instructors were terrible as my daughter was clearly ill-prepared to drive after the six hours.  She failed the driving test. I found my instructor Ali to be a phenomenal teacher- patient, thorough, and very clear with his explanations. In two hours he taught me how to drive a manual to the point where I feel comfortable borrowing a friend's to practice. He is somebody who has developed a great and reliable method for teaching but still pays enough attention to tailor his instruction to the needs of the student. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to learn anything regarding driving- he even informed me of some traffic laws I was unaware of! Kudos to an excellent teacher. Read Less

Truly a great experience! My instructor was Teresa. She was really helpful and observant of how I drove. Having virtually no experience before, she helped me gain confidence and security behind the wheel. She made me get comfortable driving on the freeway, and I never thought I would like driving so much. Their instructors are insane, was on the road with one of them and sped up from behind me at a very high rate of speed and almost hit my car just so he could make a right turn in front of me.  This place has crazy instructors God only knows how they teach their students.  Shame on this place. Tonight I saw one of their cars parked for 15 minutes in front of a fire hydrant with his hazard lights on (like that makes it okay). Funny enough, but then I see him make a u-turn across a double yellow in front of another car, guy's on his cell phone, he makes another cross through a double yellow with his hazard lights still going full tilt. I've used this company twice now for my two daughters.  Over all good experiences, and they get the job done.One daughter did not like one of her her driving instructors, and thought she was not paying attention to her or teaching her anything.  Second daughter seems pleased, just had her first lesson yesterday.  I met the instructor, he was very nice! We used South Bay Driving School for our daughter.  Her instructor was Al.  She really learned a lot from him during each lesson.  What we liked is that she got picked up at our house to start her lesson and was dropped off at our house at the end of the lesson so basically she got a lot of driving practice in from the get go.  Other schools make you take your child to their location, which isn't always convenient, then spend time talking about driving during your hour long lesson vs. actual practice for the whole hour.  Would recommend South Bay Driving School to others.  Ask for Al!They have discount coupons for lessons, too. The driving school was a good experience for me to learn the importance of driving. But after taking the 3 driving lessons, i had driven with this one instructor twice, and her name was Holly. I felt that she was toooo distracting when it comes to her teaching me and other people how to drive, she constantly asked questions, starting unnecessary conversations, she even said i was doing too many mistakes yet she was making me feel agitated with her on the phone calling the radio station for weird al' tickets, yep. South Bay Driving School is the best.  My daughter took lessons with the school.  Her main instructor was Alford.  All I can say is Alford is the best!  My daughter was very nervous and not confident about driving.  Alford built up her confidence and made her feel so comfortable behind the wheel.  She was well prepared for her driving test and today she's an excellent driver.  Additionally, I had an instructor from the school take my daughter to the DMV to take her driver's exam.  I felt she would be less nervous....and, it worked out great.  Thank you South Bay Driving School!! I had a horrible experience with Sabino at Avers Driving School, so a friend recommended I try South Bay. My instructor is Luis, and although I've only had two lessons with him so far, I am already 100% more confident about driving and taking the test than I was previously.  Luis is very energetic, passionate, and meticulous.  His methods of teaching are quirky/funny yet very practical, detailed, and effective.  I also feel very comfortable when driving with him--he answers all my numerous questions without judgment or getting irritated, and he actually answers them! My previous instructor would hardly answer my questions; instead, he would get angry and reply that I should already know the answer (obviously I wouldn't be asking if I knew).  I am scheduled to take the driving test in a few weeks, and I feel very prepared already! I chose South Bay to prepare format driving test and didn't have the best experience. I had the same instructor for the first two lessons, Lexi. While charismatic, she was impatient with me and made me feel nervous and unconfident. By the time It was time to take my test I had one lesson to go and was dreading it because I had such a bad experience with lexi. Luckily I was able to ask for a new driver and the lesson went really well. Eugene was calm and mellow yet very helpful and let me know exactly what would be on the test. If you choose South Bay just request an instructor you hear is good (I've also heard al is a good one). Or just get sabino, a private instructor who has great reviews. Read Less

When looking for a driving school I knew the South Bay Driving School was well established and had been operating in the area for over 15 years.  I knew there were some cheaper schools but they have come and gone.  I was also scared about the reliability of the instructors as well as the cars.  Despite the slightly higher price, I'm glad I went with the South Bay Driving School.  They were always very reliable.  My step daughter was well prepared and past her written and driving exam in the first try.  I would recommend them highly. It was a good, conveniently located school.  They pick you up at your house for the lesson which is 2 hours long.  You can choose your instructor.  They were patient and knowledgeable with my teenage daughter.  They offer tips and told her what to expect at the driving test.We got a discount for kids that went to local schools.  The pre-driving online course was fun, also.We liked it and would reccommend it.My daughter passed her driving test the 1st time, too.
