I had a fairly good experience with A1 driving. I had two amazing instructors Justin and Amanda (and one bad instructor, but I won't talk about that). I HIGHLY recommend you schedule your behind the wheel training with them. They're super nice and make a nervous driver feel more at ease. Thanks to them I was able to pass my DMV test on the first try. :)p.s. If you can, schedule your DMV appointment with A1. Let me start off by saying that these lessons are worth every single penny. The knowledge, skills and confidence you'll acquire are insurmountable. The instructors are real, down to earth and invested in your learning experience. If you're willing to absorb the helpful hands on information you'll come out feeling comfortable and at ease behind the wheel. As an adult with absolutely no experience behind the wheel other than in a parking lot, I entered my lessons with apprehension. Long story short, I didn't think I could drive and due to a slew of different reasons the idea of having to operate a vehicle mortified me. Basically, me + driving = just no. However I figured it was time to get my license, but after being a passenger in a couple car accidents, I wasn't willing to trust anyone other than a reputable driving school to teach me. That's where A-1 came in. The bulk of my first set of lessons was with Carolyn (who no longer works for the company) and she helped pave the way to a sense of comfort behind the wheel. She was extremely encouraging and although easily flustered when it came to navigation issues and heavy traffic, never once made me feel like I was incompetent. My second set of lessons was with Raelyn and that's when my confidence really started to kick in. She's no nonsense, to the point and on your side about helping you get as much driving experience as you can in that 2 hour block. She even completely quelled my fear of the freeway. After each lesson I left feeling more confident and prepared than the last. Needless to say she's an honest, amazing instructor. Plus she's hilarious.I also had Symone for 2 of my lessons and she too was amazing. She gave me helpful tips and helped me master the art of parking--believe me I thought I was a lost cause in that department. With the help of A-1 I went from being completely skeptical about my abilities behind the wheel to a completely confident LICENSED driver.It doesn't matter what walk of life you're in-- whether you're looking for a school to teach your teen, an adult needing to gain confidence on the road, or a senior looking for a refresher, A-1 is the place to go. My son just finished his first two hours of behind the wheel training.  The instructor was supportive, patient and helped build my nervous teenager's confidence.  We have been driving with our son for a few days since his initial training this past week and he is clearly paying attention to his mirrors, blind spots, staying in his lane on turns,  anticipating traffic changes, coming to smooth stops and having smooth accelerations, and more.  I have great confidence that A1 is producing good drivers. By far the best driving school I've been to, calling and scheduling my driving lessons was fast and easy. Also my instructor was timely and very informative. I was able to correct a lot of things that I didn't even know needed to be corrected. And I can honestly say that i feel confident about passing my behind the wheel driving test! I sent all 3 of my kids through A1's driving program.  It was wonderful.  We had a bit of an "emergency" with my 3rd child. She completed her course Sunday right before closing time and her permit test was the next Monday morning.  The staff was amazing.  They knew how desperately she wanted her permit so they stayed late to get her paperwork printed out and enabled her to get it all on time. My Daughter just turned 21 and had never been behind the wheel.  So for her birthday I bought a 4 lesson package from A1.  I bought the 4 lesson which includes 4 two hour behind the wheel lessons or 3 two hour behind the wheel and 1 use of their car with DMV driving test.  While researching driving companies (there really is a lot out there) I had to take in to account my Daughter fears first about driving and her anxieties about her skills.  The first lesson she was apprehensive but did very well and came home feeling very confident.  By the third lesson she was feeling very brave and had a new found self esteem about her driving skills. I'm in my late 20s and was finally ready to get up and get going in terms of driving, and I knew that A1 was the place I wanted to work with to do this. My brother had used them and loved them.I came in early in July to get signed up for lessons - my permit was expiring at the end of the month. I expected to have to renew it, but the owner set me up with three lessons and told me she  KNEW I could pass my test! Laurene encouraged me to go home and schedule my test that day before they filled up, so I did.All three lessons I had Natasha for my instructor and I couldn't be happier. She was such a great teacher. Calm, patient and we got along really well. She took me on the freeway on the 2nd lesson and kept me calm. When my third and final lesson came around, we reviewed everything from start to finish and she told me all about the behind the wheel test. When I finished my lesson, she told me she knew I would pass and to keep them updated. I passed! I missed two things (very minor errors) but I passed and am now driving. I've been looking for a driving school that taught adults, as I am on my own and my parents are in another state. Before trying this driving school, I took one lesson at Referral Driving School. It was "meh" and more geared toward teens than adults, even though they said they teach adults too. However, their instructor didn't take me driving in the street just basically going in circles around a residential area. I don't know if she was scared because I haven't driven in 6 years but I didn't reschedule another appointment.I found A1 Driving School and scheduled 1 lesson, Pavel was my instructor. I told him I haven't driven since 2006 and of course I only had one driving lesson with the other school. He made sure I knew where the controls were (brakes, gas, signals, etc) before heading off. He took me driving out onto Greenback and  Sunrise near Citrus Heights, we then headed towards Folsom. I wasn't sure if he was crazy to take a new driver out into traffic, but he was very professional, made me feel calm and he would steer the wheel if I was having trouble staying in lane or if another driver got too close to me. He made me feel safe at all times. After the first lesson, I bought their gold package $930 with Pavel being my instructor every time. On the 4th or 5th lesson we went driving on the freeway. Again, made me feel safe. Today was my DMV test in Carmichael and I passed, only missed 3 points. Pavel was my instructor from beginning to end, I had no one to practice with at home. I would highly recommend A1 Driving School to anyone, adults and teens. Their instructors are not afraid to take students out into traffic heavy streets or even on the freeway. Read Less
