When I was learning how to drive I can keenly remember how nerve racking and incredibly stressful it was. At the beginning, I purchased a package from Varsity Driving, and while they served their purpose for the most part they were nothing special. Then I heard about Persis Driving School from a friend, and everything changed. Think of Sam (the owner and proprietor) as like a Persian Yoda. He's wise, knowledgeable, patient, pushes you to be your best, and most importantly he's an incredible mentor.  I can assure you whole heartedly that Sam is everything he's chalked up to be - and more. Everything I learned in terms of driving I learned from Sam. The personal touch and bona fide skill of Persis cannot be beat. Sam taught me how to park, master the expressway, turn with grace, and even conquer the DMV driving course.  When I had trouble learning how to park, Sam took the extra time and effort to help me get it down to a science. Sam's words and driving wisdom are things that I carry with me to this day two years after getting my license. I can not express how appreciative, satisfied and thankful I am with Persis, esp. my incredible instructor Sam(!!!!). He's so friendly, professional, experienced and patient.I had tried one other driving school before Persis and seriously, I am so glad I found Persis/Sam. Leon, the guy who picks up the phone was so helpful and patient that he answered all my questions and assist with the booking process with great courtesy.  1. Sam's punctual (always early!) 2. Theory + Practice: I really like it that he pulls out his notepad halfway through the lesson and explains different situations and traffic conditions to me so I can have a better (visual) idea of how to react and what to do. 3. Full 2hr service. The other driving school I did lessons with was so misleading when they advertised "2hr driving lessons" but only did 1hr 45min claiming students need to take a 15min-break after an hour of driving according to DMV (And basically they took no break in between the 2 hours and finish the lessons 15min early). Sam either uses the "break time" (claimed by the other driving school) to explain things to me or, a FULL 2 HOUR DRIVING PRACTICE.   4. Sam's very knowledgeable. He just knows what he's doing and he tells you the "tricks" of driving and parking (perfectly)!5. He's also very familiar with DMV routes and the test routines - in our last lesson, he took me to San Clemente DMV (where I'd be having my test), practiced 4-5 routes and equally importantly, he showed me what I'd need to do on my test day, like where to submit documents, where I'd start the test, where I'd be asked to park after the test, etc. This helped a lot because I obviously wouldn't want extra pressure that day and knowing the procedure and where to go is important.6. He trains not only your driving skill, but mentality. Sam understands very well one gets nervous, makes mistakes or does stupid things sometimes and he's just so calm and kind. He was like a counselor telling me not to be nervous, the worst case was just failing the test, no big deal, blah blah blah. When looking for a driving school for my 16 year old son, I did the usual homework and read the reviews here and elsewhere.  The costs were comparable to other services in the Newport area, so price alone was not a defining point.  I called Persis and received a call back quickly.  The person provided me with answers to all my questions and also offered pick up service in a great, clean vehicle which my son used throughout all 3 of his lessons. The instructor was amazing.  I then called back to ask about the driving test services and quickly signed up for the $135 fee which included his recommendation as to where to take the test, registration for the test, pick up in the same car as his lesson and help with registration at the DMV and waiting to return him home.  Could NOT be easier and Persis could not be more helpful. There is not a doubt to recommend 'Persis' Driving School.  My instructor was Jahan.   He is very professional, supportive and does care all his students. My wife suffered a real blow to her confidence early on in her driving instruction but we knew she needed to get her confidence back. We contacted Persis and were allotted Sam as instructor. He worked around our work schedule and slowly gave her, her confidence back. On the day of the exam she had a bit of a meltdown and called Sam who once again returned her confidence to her and she passed with flying colors.She still doesn't drive much on the freeway but is a confident and capable driver now and is doing better every day thanks to Sam. Persis did an excellent job, and my daughter passed her driving test easily. This is a smallish company but they are quick and professional, always on time, and perfect with email reminders and paperwork. Their normal procedure is the following:     2 hours right after your child earns their permit - they will do the nerve-wracking first drive around the neighborhood. You then practice on city streets with your child for roughly 10 hours, until they are good at off-freeway driving. Then you call Persis and make a second appointment, creating:     2 hours freeway driving - Off they go, and your kid comes back saying, "no big deal, Mom."  You and your child then bond for 40 more hours of driving around Orange County. Your student chooses the music; you choose the volume. Then the 16th birthday comes close, and you call Persis again. They ask which DMV your child will take her driving test at, and then:     2 hours near the chosen DMV - My daughter drove all around the Laguna Hills DMV, they talked about the test and the paperwork needed, where to line up, and what to expect.All in all, Persis made a confusing and stressful event into one where my child was comfortable and competent.  Thanks, guys! I highly recommend this school. I took the six hour lessons in order to take my DMV here as i come from abroad and also to refresh my driving skills. I got Sam as my instructor. He is a great teacher, he is patient, courteous and gentle when correcting you of your mistakes. He gives you useful tips and helps you built your confidence in driving and also helpedme  by teaching how to drive safe in California . He is a wonderful person too. I haven't take my test yet but independent of the result i must say that he did a great job! They assigned Sam as my instructor and he is really patient and showed me all the basic stuff and tricks that beginner like me merd to know. He will suggest you all the improvement you need to change in positive and funny ways so you will never forget them and can easily work on them forever! I highly recommend Persis Driving School! I called 3 driving schools in Irvine and no one picked up but Persis Driving School was the only one that called me back. Elysis, the customer service representative, provides fantastic customer service over the phone! He's always willing to help!I already had my license for 2 years but hadn't driven since thus I wanted to refresh my driving skills as well as gain confidence on the road. I requested 3 driving lessons and for Sam to be my driving instructor from a recommendation. He is a fantastic instructor! Sam is very patient and gives terrific tips! He'll ask you what you want to work more on and be honest when critiquing your driving skills. He genuinely wants his students to be good and smooth drivers.
