Awful attitude by a Mr. Johnson and the lady secretary. They scheduled me at the same time as another girl and didn't lete know until I went in for my appointment. I was so excited and he was so rude about it all, acting like it was my fault I was set up at the same time, I asked what the solution would be then and he said, "I'm telling you I'm looking for one!" It made me feel so awful. This appt was set up a week before my appt. I honestly don't understand how they didn't realize especially the secretary that's her job. I was meant to come to this school. As soon as my mom and I walked in the office we were welcomed by Mr. Johnson followed by his lovely wife, Lourdes. They are both such outstanding and warm hearted people. Lourdes actually remembered my mom when she was 18 years old and visited their old office as well, so that made my experience even waaayyy better. i quickly became very comfortable with them. I started my lessons with Mr. Johnson right away. I got the 8 hour lessons package. Mr. Johnson is very funny, so bring along your sense of humor. He is loud as well but that is just part of who he is and a way to get you to not be so nervous. He also has an accelerator and brake on his side, which made me feel more secure, just in case anything could've happened. I took my written test after I finished my lessons and passed the first try and then had my driving test the following week. I passed my driving test the first try as well. I needed a car for my driving test so I decided I would rent one from this business. I called a week before my test inquiring about the price I was told it would be 80 dollars and that they would take me around driving 30-45 minutes prior to testing. The young lady on the other end of the line was very nice and told me to go at 8 a.m on the day of my test which wasn't scheduled until 10 a.m. but I said okay that's fine, I figured there needed to be paper work done. Fast forward to the day before my test I get a call from a different lady telling me that I would have to be there at 7 a.m. when I asked why, she told me that they would take me to take my test earlier and see if the DMV would take me, I told her my test wasn't scheduled until 10. She then proceeded to ask me that if I wanted them to take me driving prior to the test, I said yes of course but my test isn't until 10 a.m. She then told me that if I didn't get there at 7 they wouldn't be able to take me driving. I was a bit confused because the quoted price package included the car rental and the 30-45 minute driving lesson before the test but I agreed to it anyway. I got to the establishment at 7 a.m. sharp and they weren't even open. I called them and the man on the other line said they would be there in a minute, while he didn't take long to get there his wife (who was going to be my instructor) did. To my surprise there was two other people who arrived after, the man took one person and the lady took me and the other person. After taking turns practicing in the same car, we headed to the DMV. We got there around 8:30 a.m, apparently the two other people had their driving test around 8. The lady was told that I wouldn't be able to take my driving test until 9:50. One of the other people was having trouble with his paper work so we had to wait until it was cleared up, which took quite a bit of time. I ended up realizing that all 3 of us would be using the same car to take out driving test, which is why they scheduled all of us at the same time. I didn't end up taking my test until 11 because I had to wait for the other 2 people to finish their driving test. My question is as to why they would schedule so many people at the same time, I mean its not like 80 dollars is a little bit of money to paying for renting a car and having to wait 2 and a half hours to take my driving test because they failed to properly schedule their students. I have two friends that recommended me this place saying that they had a wonderful experience and that I should go there, they both passed their tests after the lesson they took with Johnson, but I didn't stop there,  I wanted to check it out on yelp before actually buying their services, then I see a bad review from a person saying  blah blah, but again the reason why I didn't get discouraged was because of my friends' pretty cool experience at this driving school.  I called to their office(the lady that answered the phone was really nice) and I got an appointment , when I arrived Johnson and his wife were really nice and welcoming people that automatically made me feel very comfortable. I am really glad I took the chance  because even though I already knew how to drive I needed to make sure I was passing, there were definitely some mistakes I was making that I wasn't aware of, so Johnson gave me 1 hour driving lesson prior to my test, pointing out my errors which was really helpful,  (He has 30 years of experience teaching people how to drive and pass their tests) right after that he took me to the dmv,  provided the car for the examination, everything went great, I got passed on my first try!!! I have my driver's license and I couldn't be happier!!!I can say the bad review I read wasn't accurate at all  because Johnson is professional and respectful, he jokes around, so you got to have some sense of humor be prepared for that though, which I think is amazing because in the middle of a stressful situation like that, the funny jokes can help to calm you down, be positive and that can leads to getting your driver's license! Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Johnson.What was supposed to be an hour of practice and preparedness for the driving test, was the most uncomfortable, unpleasant  experience ever!Instead of teaching me the correct driving techniques and skills needed to pass the driving test; he made sure I learned what he thinks of:- His wife- & MexicansThe way he expressed himself about the above was completely sexist, racist, disrespectful, and UNPROFESSIONAL. (For the use of better words) I was completely disgusted, by the way he expressed himself, not to mention that I was not there to listen to his beliefs/thoughts or his life story.This was supposed to be a simple business transaction which is what I paid for. What I got from the hour was nothing close to what I signed up for. Johnson also made me feel discouraged and tried to make me doubt myself on completing my driving test. By stating, "are you sure you want to take the driving test today? You don't need to take it today." Oh yes I do, my dmv appointment was already booked for this morning at  (8 AM). He purposely took me to my driving test appointment 35 minutes late (8:35 AM), wishing my appointment would get canceled and pay him again to use his filthy stinky car which he basically controls all the time. So much for practicing and perfecting your skills and learning from your mistakes. Plus  listen to his unnecessary banter again NO THANKS!I would personally not recommend this business establishment because it is far from being professional and ethical. They skimp on what they actually need to teach in order to book you for more driving lessons and driving car rentals. This establishment is also unorganized and disgustingly dirty.This is my first yelp review, even though I am a active yelp user but this personal experience was worth noting down because it was a horrific experience. I really appreciated being taught by mr. Johnson very nice man plus he has over 30 yrs teaching . I was just gonna rent a car to go take my test and I ended up getting a hr of practice before my test and got to use the car for the same price which was AWESOME plus this man knows everyone in the dmv so that made me feel a little less nervous . Only reason why I am giving him 4 stars cuz his wife that also works with him has a rude attitude when I had 1st called to get info that almost made me not want to come here but honestly I came cuz of the prices she was giving me. Excellent instructor. I had 2 lessons and not only did I pass easily, I feel very comfortable on the road. Teaches in both Spanish and English. Like the previous review said, he has had 30 years experience in teaching driving. I went from a complete idiot into a safe, self-sufficient driver in 2 hours. Don't have a friend teach you, have a pro teach you. He is also willing to pick you up and drop you off. This was very much appreciated. Don't make it too far, though! Read Less

I will definitely give this driving school 5 stars. I will start off by saying a massive thank you to Johnson for believing in me and for helping me pass my drivers test on my first try. It was my first time taking a drivers test and I passed! He helped me A LOT and I learned so much in just two hours. I took a two hour class before my drivers test and in just two hours Johnson helped me so much. His techniques were very helpful and everything he showed me, I had to do during my test. Two stars because I actually learned some things. All I wanted was more practice on my left turns and tips/suggestions, being that I already felt pretty comfortable driving. I went in comfortable & relaxed & came out so nervous that my stomach was hurting. I don't remember the man's name but he kept yelling stuff in English (which I couldn't understand) so I asked him to speak spanish because it was more clear. He held the steering wheel for most of the time I was driving & made me nervous. I asked 'what do I look for when I look over my shoulder?' & he yelled "JUST DO WHAT I SAY!" He kept telling me to "obey" him....when he wasn't even saying anything....After I told him to have patience with me, and that not everyone learns the same way he asked if I felt he was being too pushy I said YES!!! He got the point and calmed down. Would I recommend this place? NO!!!! I hate leaving a bad review but that man got me very angry, he's lucky I didn't crash his car on purpose....jk but really worst experience of my life! Read Less

This driving school is okay. Lessons are $80 for 2 hours. The instructor kept making me pull over for him to run errands around L.A. and usually made me wait until he was done which is definitely a waste of your precious money and time. He is a little hard to understand (had an accent) but has a pretty good system of teaching you how to drive, make turns, etc... I scheduled an appointment in the morning of my behind-the-wheel exam (this driving school offers to take you to the DMV with it's company car) but he never showed up. I'm giving this school a 4 because I passed my driving test on the first try and after 4 hours of practice. My instructor, Johnson, definitely knows what he's doing. Trust him, follow his instructions, and you will pass on your first try as well. The reason I am not giving this location 5 stars is because they do not keep their cars clean outside or inside so it really threw off their professionalism and made them appear disorganized and unqualified. However, they are a very honest business in the Lincoln Heights community and will save you money by not making you take further lessons if you are prepared for the exam. They also offer free lessons to prepare you for the written test. I would definitely recommend this location for anyone trying to pass their driving exam  in a week. Read Less

If you want to pass your driving test on the first try, come to this school!!!I'm so happy I came here, after 4 hours of driving instruction I passed my behind the wheel test!! I couldn't have done it without my instructorJohnson! He's a sweet man and he's been teaching  for over 30years. My instructors name was Jhonson. He helped me get my license and taught me how to drive, Although sometimes he was strict but patient, he showed me everything they look for at the DMV during the driving test .I had originally scheduled 6hrs of lessons plus my test, however, after training for 4hrs he took me to get my license instead of training me for the remainderof the 6 hours of scheduled training, he said there was no more training needed for me to pass the test. something i thought was a very honest gesture by him because it save me $70 . My instructor is sometimes really mad, i thought they have two instructor. I took 6 hours driving and test .  He is really mad when i try to make turn ,especially left turn, we seperate 3 days 2 hours per day and i have to go to their school . They said in my fee there is no pick up fee included. i went to their driving school for take a lesson. He just asked me to make turn a lot and i pratice most of my turn and yah later i am used to it. I didn;t pass my first try and i pass on my second. When he mad, he;s going crazy, shouting you too loud in the car. that will make you feel more nervous and he act like i am an idiot.I paid extra $70 for my second time DMV test and for the second time , he don;t take me out for practice since they have too many student  on that day. He changed the car.So i am not used to the another car and it make me really upset . Cos when i break , it stop abruptly. This place was hard to find.My driver, was an older guy, I can't remember his name but he was real cool. I went for my driving test, they give you a free hour to practice prior to your test. They take cash and checks, neither of which I carry but he didn't turn me away. He actually directed me to my banks ATM after the hour training. He's been instructing people for over 30 years, so he knew the route and test to a T.We pretty much went in circle the whole hour or so, it was actually longer than an hour. I went the route of my test, so I knew what to expect. I kept getting my hand spanked because I could not let go of the wheel when I turned the car; I also kept putting my hands in the wrong place on the steering wheel. I got in trouble a lot but it was in love and he meant well. It worked because I passed my test and he hugged me afterward.The service is $70 for the car usage and free hour.
