Delta Driving school is fantastic. Both my kids took their 3 day in class lessons and passed their written exams on their first try. Then, my kids both took many behind the wheel lessons with George, who was always patient, on time and professional. Six months later, when it came time for their behind the wheel tests, we utilized Delta's services again. George picked the kids up from our home and gave them each last minute pointers. He then took them to the DMV for their appointments. Both kids passed their behind the wheel tests on their first try. After passing, George took care of all their paperwork with the DMV and then drove them home again. From start to finish, our experience with Delta Driving School has been wonderful! Read Less

What a headache.  We scheduled our three driving lessons with the school.  First lesson, they simply did not show up - no explanation.  Next two lessons, the student driver was kept in the car while the instructor picked up another child.  Then she sat in the back while he drove.  She often would get back after THREE HOURS, as opposed to the two hours they had quoted us - throwing her entire schedule into chaos.  And the final straw was her last lesson, the driver is running 45 minutes behind - simply saying he hit traffic. WELCOME TO LA.  This company is unprofessional and unorganized.  Simply put they are a complete mess!!!! Read Less

DO NOT REGISTER FOR DELTA DRIVING SCHOOL!  THEY ARE AWFUL!  I scheduled my daughter's lesson from 11-1.  The instructor, Melissa, arrived 25 minutes LATE and offered no valid explanation.  Melissa just said,  "sorry, I am just running behind."  To make things worse, my daughter returned home at 2:00.  Again, Melissa just said this is how it is done at Delta.  The new student drives the previous student home so the end time cannot be predicted.  With most normal businesses, there is a start and stop time.  This is not the case with Delta.  Melissa said she has similar complaints from many parents about this which makes you wonder why their business practice is not clearly communicated. My daughter indicated the instruction was poor. She said she was driving faster than the speed limit and Melissa said nothing nor really offered any advise that was of value.I would NOT recommend Delta if you expect any type of schedule or solid driving instruction. Before I took my 3-day lesson with my instructor, I looked upon this site for reviews and didn't see much of them. It would have really helped if people wrote more reviews on this driving school.Since I have just completed my 3-day lesson, I would like to help you guys out by writing a review. :) All-in-all, the behind the wheel training was very good. I was a completely new driver when I got onto the road and had issues keeping calm provided that I'm now the driver, not the passenger. My instructor was very patient despite the slow learner that I am and gave me a better view towards driving. On the first day, we practiced warming up on residential areas and eventually got on the main street. On the second day, we practiced parallel parking as well as general parking. And last but not least, the third day. This was when I finally get to go on the freeway and after, practice my weaknesses. By the end of the day, we always picked up some students and switched seats so they take the driver's seat to take you home.My instructor always suggested safe driving tips and/or critiques when he notices some flaws. Don't be offended, they're only helping you try to pass the driving test. Not to mention, try to remember these tips. They'll serve you good on the long run.Sadly, we did not go over U-Turns and vehicle controls (wipers, headlights, etc.). Hence, the star deduction.I would definitely recommend this place and instructor Robert for anyone who wants to learn how to drive! :) Read Less

The 3rd behind the wheel was scheduled a few days later but this same instructor arrived 2 days early unannounced. (it was a scheduling mix up) but again he did not park in front of my home and text my son to for his lesson. By chance I happened to see the Delta vehicle approach my neighbors home and felt that was odd because we were not scheduled for a few days. This time I went out and confronted the instructor on his method of picking up my son and I told him it was rude and that this was the wrong day. I told him I was going to call the office to straighten the scheduling problem out, (Message left on answering machine, office closed at 5pm and it was 5pm)The office called me right back even though she was on her way out for the day. I requested a new instructor and the correction was made for the last behind the wheel.Robert, the instructor came to my door, shook my hand and introduced himself. My son said he was an outstanding instructor, more engaging, and very helpful with questions. For the most part, Delta was a good experience but go with your instinks. I don't think it was financially worth it. DO THIS INSTEAD: You're much much much better off somewhere else or studying a CA Driver's Handbook and taking the 6 practice tests on the dmv website, or taking the $19 dmv online school course vs. mediocre Delta for $300+ to prepare you for the written test.NOT DELTA! WHY?: I took  3 driving school days.. but it FELT like 3 years of being in an elementary classroom full of immature idiots throwing paper planes around the room. The "immature idiots" part isn't entirely for Delta to blame, though, their fabulous location of being near restaurants and the mall, hurts them by getting richer, spoiled babies by nearby La Canada who seemed to exclaim, "look at mee i don't want to be here, i don't have to pay attention, and like omg look at my expensive clothes! i can afford to just sit here and distract all the other students who want to learn!"The sessions were so tedious and boring. They packed so much information at a time, you really have to pay attention. And the weird thing is, is that there are many times that the instructor just sits there for a while when they could've just spaced out the information so it would've been easier and more comprehendible. The staff are nice, though, I couldn't understand what the instructor was saing sometimes. At the end of the course, the class got to take a practice written test. I swear, 75% FAILED. Excluding me of course, but like I said, pay attention if you come here; even take notes. ON THE PLUS SIDE: I also took the behind-the-wheel course. I liked it. My instructor was so empathetic and friendly. He did not get mad or make me feel bad in any way when I made mistakes or went AHHHHH! lol. He was very encouraging and almost theraputic with the casual talks about life, the weather, and seemed to love his job. The information he gave me was useful and you must remember what they teach you! If you need them to keep reminding you, don't be afraid to ask. Also, my instructor let me take my time eating my granola bar because I was so hungry. In no way did my driving instructor waste my time. Though he did not teach parallel parking, the driving was overall enjoyable and productive. If you must, I say, Go to Delta ONLY FOR THE BEHIND-THE-WHEEL SESSIONS.I would give this place 4 stars for the behind-the-wheel-session, but I give 2 stars because the schooling was terrible and I really want to emphasize that you'd save so much more money and time if you just follow my suggestion at the top, instead. Problems with their scheduling system and answering messages. There was one guy who the other instructors called "the beast" or "the monster" -- seemed justified -- he started yelling at and acting like I was hopeless during my first driving lesson! The other two instructors I had were nice enough, but they wanted to chat with me more than teaching me! Maybe that was my fault. I should have asked them to be quiet. Anyway, I did much better with Chevy Chase driving school down the street at Colorado. There a tough-minded grandpa didn't chat too much and actually helped me get my license. Read Less

Most of my friends went to Delta for driving school, so, thinking it was the only option, I went too.  I made SUCH big mistake by choosing delta! My instructor gave me advice such as: "never let anyone pass you-- if someone tries then speed up".  Also, he made phone calls during my lesson.  In one lesson, he even had me stop by his friends house and wait in the car while he went inside.  Though he was only inside for five minutes or so, it was pretty sketchy.  AND they don't teach you how to park, saying that things like parallel parking aren't on the driving test.  True, they may not be, but is it possible that, as some point in my life, I may need to parallel park? So, in a nutshell: they teach to the exam, give bad advice, and have you drop them off for playdates (or drug deals? by the way, that's a speculation, not a fact-- I'm not positive that drugs were actually involved).Everyone teenage driver in LA may use Delta but hey, maybe that's why there are so many bad drivers here. I saw someone's review on a driving school so I figured I would jump on the bandwagon and say a good thing or two about the place that taught me how to drive those many years ago. Note, it has been a while so I don't know what still applies or not but I figure it can't change THAT much...Delta Driving School had to deal with me as a student driver. I'm a horrible driver now (or so I say since I'm female and Asian) so to deal with me when I didn't know how to drive takes some REAL GUTS. +2 stars! You get to drive cute VW bugs instead of gross old sedans with "STUDENT DRIVER" plastered on the side. +1 star! It's located across the street from the Eagle Rock shopping mall so you can go there for lunch and shop around during your free time. +1 star! The only reason it doesn't get the last star is because, since you practice on VW bugs, you get used to parking in tight spaces and such. Once you get in your real car, you realize - hey! I drive a car twice the length of a bug! I can't make that turn in the middle of the street anymore! I gotta relearn how to drive... Read Less

Read Less

Becareful when you signed with DELTA, if you kid get sick they will charge you their $40.00 cancellation fee, and they won't bill you, they will call you and just leave a message saying to bring the $40.00 dollar on you next appoinment. if you question the charge they will hold your certificate of completion, in my case they even drove my daughter to their office and question my daugther regarding her sickness, without me being present.
