Great Instructor! Mr. Kumar is the best. I used their car for DMV Test only. He was on time to pick me up for my DMV Behind the wheel test. He picked me up 7am, and we had 2 hours driving session.Mr. Kumar knows everything about the DMV and the examiners. His instruction was clear. Mr. Kumar is the best. He Strictly follows DMV grading criteria and many other safe driving practices. My wife was short on time  and he was able to help my wife who speak basic English to pass with very minimal points deducted. He offers the vehicle for testing purpose for an extra charge however the vehicle you practice should be most familiar when testing. Cal State Driving School has my highest recommendation. Read Less

For people just trying to use the car for the driving test at the DMV:(I didn't pay for any classes, I simply needed an insured, registered car to use.)The little dude with glasses is hilariously angry and easily aggravated - if you can't put up with that for an hour, try to find somewhere cheaper or a friend who will allow you to use their car. The little fellow had me drive the car from Canoga Park to Simi Valley and he was fine on the way there. Very know-it-all attitude, but it was whatever. He came off as "chipper".After passing the test, I drove back and he seemed to be overwhelmed with a compelling urge to try and correct my every move; he actually grabbed the steering wheel while I was going 63MPH on the freeway because I was going into the left lane a little too slowly for his liking.Told him that he was pissing me off and that he needed to chill, so the next 20 minutes of the drive ended up being an awkward silence. (kinda what I wanted anyway)I didn't pay for an instructor. I paid to use your car. The car wasn't bad, but the accelerator sucked. Took forever to to get up to speed limits and had to be pressed deep before it would even engage. TL;DRCar is registered, car is insured, guy lets you take an hour to get used to his awkward car - probably the cheapest spot I've found to do the test.Guy is an insecure control freak but if you can shrug him off, you'll be all right. Exceptionally awesome place to learn how to drive. I will highly recommend any one who wants learn driving, this is the place you must step in. Instructor is very nice and teache well. I don't think you will any questions left to answer once he trains you. In my case, I got pass the test first time. Do you need to drive California safely, this is the one and only place to go. Mr. Uday is very good at his job. He is very friendly and makes sure that u know mistakes u r doing. He wants everything perfect before he take u for test. Getting a driving license here in CA is a very big achievement and he will make u achieve that.. I took 4 hrs class and cleared my behind the wheel in first go... Whoever was driving a white corolla 7gws617 is a !@#$%&+ assh0le! Cut us off almost causing us to hit him. We thought it was a student driver but nooo. Good thing we were able to step on the brakes on time. Called the number on his car and he started screaming at me telling me he knows the rules and regulations and we shouldn't be using our high beams and what not on him. Geez. And why is he answering the phone anyway? He couldn't even apologize instead was belligerent and crazy! Everyone be warned. Why would you want to get lessons from such a person?? Read Less

Hi, I too had a very bad experience with this guy Udhay (instructor/owner ) of CAL STATE driving school . i  was new to driving and as all new driver was little scared but was confident but he within tat one hour of 1st class made me feel very low , he scared me to hell . he was verbally abussing  me , doesnt hv the patience to teach a fresher . He declared tat iam not fit for  learning driving . i just dont understand how any instructor would comment in tat way . i was badly hurt and depressed , he made me feel very low . But my husband encouraged me  and i got enrolled in a different driving school and got licence too . so guys please dont go to this CALSTATE DRIVING SCHOOL (Udhay )  wat ever confidence u have ,u will lose it if u learn from this guy . i dont wish to give even 1 star rating :( Read Less

SCARY to know that there are horrible driving instructors teaching people how to drive when the instructors shouldn't have a license in the first place! I am almost 7 months pregnant,  had my 2 year old in the car when this asshol* cut us off without signaling, forcing us to slam our breaks and veer to the left to avoid getting hit.  My husband was driving and we thought it was a student driver driving but it was an instructor!  We rolled our windows down to tell him that he had almost hit us and he started screaming at us! He had no idea that he almost hit us and that makes it even more scary! Run from this business! We have a 15 year old daughter and will be looking for a driving school and there is no way in hell we'll be calling this place.  I contacted the main office to report what happened.  The name of the driver is Brahad. I think, I am one of the first students to learn driving from Udaya.I received my driving license in 2011 December and driving for 3 years without any issues. He mostly focus on teaching how to drive safely and properly than just how to pass the drive test. He also taught me things that are not tested but really crucial to know such as three point turn and parking in between cars. I am definitely recommend this school !!!! :-D Read Less

Firstly of all i am Really so much Thank fully to Mr.Uday kumar and his wife. Both are very good people who always treated me like a family member not only for me but for everyone they treat the same. Till the time i met Mr.Uday i really don't how drive and i never drove before in back home and Today i got my license its just because of him who has taken speacial care and helped me to get it and all the credit goes to Mr.Uday Kumar who is really wonderful teacher and i really advise if any one is looking to learn driving then i would recommend to go this School .
