So before I was referred to Alliance by a friend who is a trucker, I spent four months at another group based CDL school and it was a nightmare (deceitful, hostile ownership and apathetic instructors).  I picked up the inspections and even driving on the road fairly easily but I STRUGGLED HARD to learn my backing skills and failed my CDL test three times because of it.  I had very little confidence I was ever going to get my CDL and I was pretty much ready to throw in the towel.   After talking to Emmitt, I decided to renew my  permit and give it one more shot.  Now believe me when I say that this guy knows his stuff.  He teaches a very structured and methodical approach to the inspections, driving and skills and if you pay attention and put in the work,  you WILL have the skills needed to pass your test as I just did.Now if you train with Emmitt, be ready to work. He doesn't let the little details and bad habits slide and you need to be focused and take it seriously.  You will get real time honest and constructive feedback so you will always know where you stand, and what you need to work on. He wants the people who graduate from his school to actually have the knowledge and proficiency to be GOOD, SAFE drivers once they pass their test and go out into the world unlike other schools that seem to just want to teach you enough to "get away with it" at the DMV.Alliance was money well spent for me as it gave me the tools to finally get over that hump and get my CDL so I can start my new career.  Thanks again! I will try to be as objective as possible. 25 hours $ 2500 is more expensive than any other school. $ 1200 extra classes. Total $ 3700 and about 3 months time. Since you will adapt to the schedule of the instructor. What result this person will teach you the theory and in general is very difficult but probably will teach you parking. Most importantly, he will not teach you to drive a truck. That is, not because he does not know how. He does not know how to teach it and will not be with you on the road that is used during the exams. Conclusion . The first exam is not passed (driving skills). The second exam did not pass (driving skills). After the second exam and two additional last classes to my question what will we do next. Emmet replied, you can do whatever you want. My personal feeling a person is not doing his job. Not because he does not know how. He does not like it and he does not bear absolutely no responsibility for learning. Specifically, in my case, I applied to a sudden school and passed the exam from the third time since I was taught to drive a truck. I put 2 stars. For the fact that I still received theoretical knowledge .P.S. unfortunately the rating of this school is also made artificially. And more information about the proceedings with this school and what you accused of it, you can also find on the Internet. Unfortunately, I found this information already in the process of learning. Although this is not the decisive factor, it still gives an understanding of reputation. Read Less

I called around, and visited schools in Sylmar, and the LA Basin Area. I had my Class B, but needed to get my Class A. Many of the schools are group instruction, you have to wait your turn in a rotation to get behind the wheel, students teaching students, even watched an instructor yell at a student while pointing his finger at him. I then found Alliance, and they are able the others. Alliance is one on one, a paved lot, and great hands on training. Emmitt and Vic are always there to show you how to do it, answer any questions, but will guide you through how to fix anything you mess up, so you do not put yourself in an unrecoverable position. Emmitt and Vic make sure you are comfortable with a skill before moving on to the next skill, need extra time, no problem There was never any pressure to move on until I was comfortable with the skill. I never heard a discouraging word, always positive. I would recommend Alliance to anyone who needs to get a Class A without hesitation, Emmitt and Vic will take care of you, have your best interest at heart, and is not a CDL mill like many of the others are. During your training you will receive real world tips on what to expect after you graduate and get your CDL at DMV. I arrived at DMV for my Pre-trip, Skills, and behind the wheel driving test. Vic met me at DMV and walked me inside. While standing inline you will see other Schools in there with their students, many of whom were there for a second attempt. Vic assured me I was ready and not to pay attention to the others, he and Emmitt many times told me they do not let students test unless they feel they will pass. A few hours later I passed the DMV Tests, and was sporting my Class CDL. Alliance delivered on everything they promised, from practice tests to help me pass the written exams and get my permit, to the behind the wheel instruction which enabled me to get my Class A CDL. Alliance School of trucking was the right choice to make after researching other trucking schools within the Ventura and L.A. Area. Reasonable price and works with you with your schedule if needed. Emmit taught me everything to know step by step with patience . Explaining what would take place in the field and on the DMV test. I had victor also, a couple of times, and both are very descriptive for you to understand what is needed from you. I visited 2 other truck driver schools and it seem they weren't as caring as Alliance. If you listen and study hard you could pass the DMV test on the 1st try like me. I lead a busy life and worked full time while attending this school, so anything is possible. If your dedicated to learning these guys will dedicate the time for you. They did for me.! After recently retiring from my previous job I decided to take up truck driving as a second career. I chose Alliance School of Trucking for my training because the majority of their reviews were 5 star. The instruction was one-on-one and they constantly pushed me to excel. They were demanding, but always with the intent of making me better. They taught me everything I needed to know, from the pre trip inspection to the skills tests to actual on the road driving, to pass my DMV road test, and I did on the first try. I now have a CDL (and a job offer from Schneider). Since I signed up for the advanced course I am still working with them to hone my skills and help prepare me for my new career. I highly recommend Alliance School of Trucking to anyone seeking to take up truck driving as a career. Thank you Alliance School of Trucking. Read Less

I did my research on different schools and finally chose this one. I'm glad I chose right. One on one, teacher to student. I like the way he really drills all the skills in your head.  He takes the time to go over the things you need to improve on. Emmett Marshall, I just wanted to thank you for teaching the unteachable. If he could teach me, he could teach anybody. Finish the class, then the next day was the test. I went to the DMV and before the test we went through all the things that I was weak in. He made sure I was calm and told me what I should do. I started the test remembered all the things he taught me and passed on my first shot. If I could give Alliance more stars I would. This is a veteran owned organization that takes true pride in their students and professionalism. I am a Marine Corps veteran and I felt totally at ease with their instruction during stressful techniques being taught. They have a number of instructors and have the knowledge to fit you as the student with the instructor that best fits your personality. Not only are they very organized, they also do everything in their power to accommodate your work or school schedule with the broad hours of operation. Two things I liked the most was their absolute integrity when it came to preparing me. They set you up for total success and won't allow you to DMV test until your absolutely ready. Which is a lot more than can be said for most schools in the area that want you to fail so you have to keep paying them to learn how to pass. The second most important element was the complete confidence they gave me in my driving ability because of their outstanding training, that allowed me to find a driving job three days after I passed my DMV test. Not only was I able to show the employer my ability to drive but they were well aware of the outstanding reputation School Of Alliance has which swayed them into hiring me immediately. I HIGHLY recommend this school to anyone that truly wants to invest their money into a school that will give you MORE than you pay for. Read Less

I'm a municipal firefighter and came to Alliance for my Class A drivers training based on a recommendation from another firefighter. Emmit and his instructors are incredible. Sandy did a great job with my training and prepared me for the test even more than I ever thought they would. Before I came to Alliance, I visited 4 other schools which were either shady or had mostly group instruction. At alliance I got one on one instruction and as much practice as I needed. I even met several people that had left other trucking schools and had come to Alliance looking for help.Along with driving our tiller truck on the fire department, I now drive a 65' tractor trailer that's a regional Urban Search and Rescue vehicle. Alliance delivered on everything they promised, from practice tests to help me pass the written exams and get my permit, to the behind the wheel instruction which enabled me to get my Class A CDL. I never heard a discouraging word, always positive.I would recommend Alliance to anyone who needs to get a Class A without hesitation, Emmitt and Vic will take care of you, have your best interest at heart, and is not a CDL mill like many of the others are. Thank Emmit and Victor ! Read Less

Thank you so much Mr. Marshall!!! Read Less

Read Less

With both of their immense knowledge and years of experience as both drivers and instructors I was able to pass my DMV class A driving test. They make everything simple and only move at your pace of you need it but also give you that confidence to push yourself to the next level. I highly recommend this school, it's definitely a step ahead of any other schools out there.

Thank you to all the guys at Alliance for your help. Keep up the good work! Read Less

I felt like all this place cared about was getting my GI Bill and that's it. I dropped out about a month in and they didn't even care to call me to ask me why ...well I'll tell you Sandy the instructor there is a grumpy short tempered old trucker who seems like he is hell bent on taking his frustrations out on you, should not be teaching anything with that poor attitude. If your looking to get a CDL go elsewhere or call to see if they got rid of sandy, don't expect them to care regardless. Read Less
