A1 Driving is great!  I passed my driving test on the first try at the Costa Mesa DMV 2 weeks ago!I called in December (2015) and scheduled my first appointment.  The receptionists were kind, informative, and quick for scheduling.  I was asked if I had a preference of instructors, and requested Jim after reading good reviews about him on Yelp.  (Great choice btw, PICK JIM!!!)  I believe I paid roughly $300 for the mandatory 6 hours behind-the-wheel driving lessons.  A1 Driving offers free pick up and drop offs (locations of your choice).  They even allow pick ups at your school, which is extremely convenient, considering a majority of the people taking the lessons are high school students, like me.  I scheduled all of my appointments 1 month apart, in order to get a sufficient amount of practice before my next lesson.  I highly recommend doing this, so you benefit more from your lessons.  I also recommend scheduling your appointments in advance if you are very particular on the date and time;  When scheduling, I had to choose weird times like 1-3pm.  I had TERRIBLE driving anxiety before I started my lessons but my Jim made my lessons fun, and made me comfortable behind the wheel.  His teaching method was really chill, and I didn't feel as if I was taking a lesson.  Despite his jokes ("Feel the power of the Corolla" LOL), and story-telling, he was very informative, corrected my driving, and gave me plenty of driving tips.  On my last lesson,  we drove to the Costa Mesa DMV (where I scheduled my driving test to be), and practiced the route.  Jim was very informative; He told me everything the DMV examiner would be looking for, and ran a practice driving test.  The only "negative" commentary I have to say about my experience with the lessons was that Jim was always 10-15 minutes late, and ended the lessons roughly 10 minutes early; However, that's not a big deal considering A1 Driving offers lessons all throughout Orange County and LA, and there is traffic.  Overall,  A1 Driving and Traffic got the job done - I had fun and learned lots from my lessons; I passed my driving test on the first try andI'm now licensed!Hello and thanks Jim if you see this :-) - Joanna Read Less

A-1 Driving and Traffic School was a convenient way for my child to have the driver's ed experience needed to obtain his DMV Driver's License.  The driver arrived on time at our home.  He reviewed the driver's instructions, and made my child drive the course the DMV uses during the test.  My child is confident he will be able to pass the test. We used A1 driving school for our teen....Great driving school and friendly/courteous staff. Always arrived on time and communicated via email about upcoming lessons. My husband and I would recommend this driving school to family and friends. Read Less

Jackie the gal in the office is great. The driving instructor had some serious issues one of which was taking smoke breaks during lessons and no follow up after my daughter got sideswiped during a lesson. Actually I had to inform them almost a week and a half later. Read Less

My instructor was Jim and for some strange reason I absolutely loved this guy. I Only Had Him For Three Days 2HOURS Per And Man Were His Jokes Bad And Did He talk. But he helped me out alot, got me out of my comfort zone and broke the ice pretty fast. Anyways. Five stars for Jim and Jackie.  Jackie mainly because she got me every appointment  I wanted. Horrible customer service. Please don't use this service. They want you to take your lessons months apart since they don't have enough instructors  to service their customers. They like to over charge for simple things.  Instructors always run late and are given the wrong pick up address. Read Less

Awful place! don't use them. They took my money and then said they didn't service my area. I called twice to schedule my son's training and they said that they were with a student..which was a lie. The women argued with me telling me that I didn't call before...then they said they didn't service my area because of TRAFFIC. What a horrible driving school. They can't even handle driving in traffic. Read Less

OMG they were great! I called - I paid - I had appointments for my daughter immediately.  They came to the house (always on time and Saturdays) to pick up my daughter to teach her how to drive. She completed the course and paperwork got her permit. She is a confident driver. Like clockwork.  This business has got it down to a science! Abraham, my instructor, was nice and well spoken. He could clearly illustrate his instructions and was very receptive to my questions. He gave me a good summary on what to expect for the driving test and I easily passed. Also, this was the best priced school I could find in Huntington Beach. My A-1 Driving and Traffic School experience was nothing but great! I had the pleasure of having Geo as my instructor for two lessons. He made me feel comfortable and calm while driving. A1 driving school is probably the best in their business. For a person who has not driven much ,driving became a lot easier here due to the nice instructor that I got and that was christy. She is charming,friendly, very encouraging and not to forget patient with the new drivers. I took one 2 hour lesson everyday for 1 week, making a total of 10 hours, then culminating in my drivers test last Friday, which I passed getting 10 deductions.  Which is pretty good considering I had very little experience driving before that.  My lessons: 4 with Jeff plus my drivers test and one lesson with Tiffany, who works in the orange county area. I totally enjoyed my lessons with Erica. She was patient with me and I learned a lot from her. All 4 lessons I learned something new. Erica took me from beginning to end on how to drive. I started to learn on my own with friends but after taking these 4 lessons with Erica I took my driving test in Westminster and I passed. I recommend her now to my friends that are in the same situation. The schools prices are the lowest in the area and I got really great service. If I could give them 6 stars I would!! Read Less
