I had a couple of lessons with Stan from CDDS, having moved from the UK to the USA and needing to get my CA license. He was an excellent instructor, calm and clear, and I'd definitely recommend him.

CDD gives more in depth instruction and makes sure that all students are given the tools needed to be perfectly safe drivers. The instructors actually care about the skill of the students and do not go through the motions of teaching like other driving schools. By the time of the driving test i felt completely prepared to safely undertake any driving obscure presented to me. Read Less

This is NOT the driving school to use for your child.  I rode along for my daughter's first time behind the wheel.  There was no instruction about how to pull away from the curb, or any other intro to driving skills.  After a half hour of whiplash in the back seat I noticed that she was breaking with her left foot and not her right foot.  I brought it to the instructor's attention - he never noticed!  Also, when she was driving in the bike lane (because she was centering her body to the car lane, not the car!) the instructor just "suggested" that she might not want to be in the bike lane.  Maybe some driving instruction would have been helpful here.  Then he took her into Isla Vista.  Anyone who knows the area knows that I.V. is not the place to take a driver on their first outing.  Too many bikes to try to avoid.  And when I called the owner of the driving school to complain about the instructor, he got mad at me!  Big Mistake.  Eventually, after some discussion, he did realize that what the instructor did was wrong and offered to take her out himself, but I had already paid $90 to put my daughter and myself in danger.  I wasn't going to chance it again.  It would have been appropriate for him to have refunded my money under the circumstances.  Instead, we went down to Orange County and put our daughter in Masterdrive's driving school.  Best decision ever.  It is expensive, but there is no price that I could put on my child's life. For me, it's not about her just getting her license, it's about her being safe and prepared on the road. Read Less

This is a decent driving school for the price. You get an hour and a half of behind the wheel driving for about ninety dollars. Yes, it is pricier than learning from your parents but in certain situations you may need to resort to a driving school. Being in the SB area, this price is competitive considering the amount of training you get. Unlike a certain driving school I had a negative experience with, this place actually gets you driving behind the wheel for nearly entire allotted time. For some perspective, as soon as I got in the car after some brief formalities (less than 2 minutes), the instructor asked me to start the car and drive. There was no fooling around here. You get what you pay for. We practiced lane changes, freeway driving, and extensive driving techniques in preparation for the driving exam. I recommend this driving school if you absolutely have to use driving schools to prepare you to take the test. Read Less

My daughter goes to San Marcos High School and has Mr. Bradley as a teacher.  Isn't it odd that Mr. Bradley pushes his driving school to students in his classes.  Isn't this a CONFLICT OF INTEREST. WOW!! If I was another driving school in town, I would complain to the principal of the school and then head to the NEXT board of education meeting. San Marcos High School could be in store for a SERIOUS law suit brought on by his competitors because of his ACTIONS. Read Less
